So I'll ask once and exit the thread, anyone knows where can the OST can be picked up (digital/physical)? Or is it an exclusive for the collectors' edition?

So what is the general consensus of this game so far?

A fantastic game.

Very different from traditional Metal Gear Solid, for better or worse.

Pretty stupid in-game justification, you are a bunch of elite career super mercenaries, and have an R&D department that could manufacture guns, but no one knows how to screw on a silencer?

Well, you actually do know how to do that, and can do it in the field, even.

As for
merging weapons together
, and using
attachments like silencers that weren't designed for a particular weapon
, probably takes some skill.

Hey Guys, I've only completed one required mission and one side op (still super early into the game).

I have Hideo from GZ imported and see he has an S in persuasion? I don't see anything assignable yet that's mapable to that attribute. Should I just dedicate him to research for now and change it later?

Also, in the opinion of folks who are much further in to the game, what should I prioritize my investment in early on?

It doesn't make me feel 'uncomfortable' or any silly thing you will only hear on Twitter, but it is embarrassing.

Show off the game to a party who isn't familiar with the medium and Quiet shows up.

the party would appreciate D-Dog slitting throats with a knife more anyway

isn't so bad, just bring a rocket launcher and fight.
Don't try to drive the truck and escape, it's borderline impossible.

Finally got M16 and 17 done. S Ranks on both.

16 was easy once I worked out where the truck was meant to be at the
airport
so I just ran round the wall, climbed over the fence, triggered the cutscenes, fulton'd it summoned the almight D-Horse and rode out of there. About 3-4 mins total.

17...had to restart once but wasn't too bad. First bit is annoying. Second is kinda easy-ish.

Anyone else recently have a HARDLOCK of their PS4's while playing MGSV? Had one late last night. I'm talking about:

  • Close application didn't do anything.
  • Turning off the system from the menu didn't do anything.
  • The power button on the front of the console didn't do ANYTHING.

Ended up having to uplug the system.

Started up the system, it presented me with a error report option which I sent in, and seemed to run fine afterwards. Enough to play another damn mission (this time, sending the Spetznaz Commander from mission 3 to go and capture...himself in mission 3.)

Is their another, different side op I have to do to unlock the gunsmith side op?

I think I did one of them but the other 2 aren't showing up.

I did have a hardlock, yeah. I held down the power button for a couple of seconds and it turned off. I only got the one.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
The new guy did an awesome job with the soundtrack, very Cliff Martinez.

How do i level up my staff fast my R&D is a level 16 and my support is at level 10 i need these two to be at level 18 and level 16 so i can get the cargo 2.

20 hours in...MGS5 really is 2014's Destiny. The similarities are staggering.

+AMAZING play mechanics, feels great to play when the action starts
+Looks really nice, although clearly cross-gen

-Open World is really a few walled off linear hot spots used for main missions and filler "free roam" missions, with resources to collect. Areas you think you can traverse, ya can't. Its a hassle getting from one side to the other. No NPCs, villages, anything particularly interesting or notable.

-You spend a lot of time sitting in loading screens after you extract from every mission. Your ship takes you back to the hub base, until you realize its horrifically boring with maybe 2 activities and you can't interact with anybody, so you go back to the loading screen ship.

-There's not a whole lot of narrative momentum or structure, you can play for hours and not really have much of an emotional investment in any of the world or its characters. Main character feels like an avatar and not a person. You do "main" missions thinking they'll advance the plot, and not only are they very similar to the filler missions, but it feels like nothing you did mattered anyway. Just another chore taking care of.

-There's a big grinding metagame they attached to it, so you're always on the lookout to collect a hundred different things to build yourself up and micromanage various components of your loadout. IDK, they felt this was a needed evolution over the old games where you just played it and found cool shit in the world. Now they make you grind for it.

Can't wait for the expansion next year that makes MGS5 a great game

shiiiiiit

I mean MGSV is still way better than Destiny in every way, and Big Boss has the advantage of having some of the greatest games of all time as backstory (as opposed to nameless destiny characters I give no fucks about), but I see where you're coming from.

How is playing with FOBs online? Macro transactions notwithstanding ofcourse but it seems like such a great addition. How in depth can you customize your FOB?

Don't even need to fight,
they slowly hobble towards you anyway, just hobble them away then circle around to the truck and fulton it.

There's just too many guards to stealth properly for me, and the end was frustrating me until I
did what someone mentioned a page or so back and just fucking ran

Was I the only 1 legit scared? I shot the hell out of
the first zombie
trying to man up but he took the bullets like a champ so I
called D-Horse and we Nope'd out of there

Also when I first encountered them I did the same but chucking grenades lol. Managed to take 1 out

From the numbers I've seen thrown around, probably a quarter. I'm there too though, so I'm not exactly sure.

Then again, 17% complete at 19 hours x.x

Thanks, hope there are more cutscenes from now on though, my playtime is standing at 16 hours and almost no cutscenes until now.

You're still in the beginning lol.

lol, thanks! This game is so huge, it got me a little confused.

Man it took me like 30 mins to find this soldier in the mountains. Finally found him and the Fulton extraction failed. Luckily I got mauled to death by a bear on the way to the helicopter so I could try it again.

I just got
Huey to Mother Base

How far I am in the story? No spoilers, pls!

This is not how you spoil something. learn2spoil. It defeats the whole purpose of the tag when you give no indication of where you are in the game.

Why is this so hard for people to understand?

Is there a way to listen to tapes on an iOS device? It gets a little annoying listening to them while Ocelot constantly talks about various vegetation, animals, and rock formations or whatever.

How do I set so the staff members are not auto-assigned?

I'm not near the game but in general you can hit Select/Menu and there will be an overlay showing you what everything is on each iDroid page. I know that's more general than what you were looking for but it might help and just a general tip for people.

I was REALLY hoping playing this game would finally get the song Nuclear our of my head.

Nope

Oh, and this Riot SMG is kind of awesome. It just burns the suppressor to death but I'm glad I found it. I can react much faster and sweep out a group of guys without killing them.

When do you get do load out a vehicle?

Someone said there was an app and I looked into it and it says you can listen to "music" from the game. The person here said you could listen to the audio logs too though. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet. App is not working for Xbox One currently fyi

Just had an enemy guard spot DD wondering around doing its thing, and the guard was like "shoo dog, go away" and threw a stone at him. Big mistake, press Call -> Do it (kill enemy)
