I'll spoiler tag this in case for some reason somone doesnt want to know how to get it
there is a door on the top floor of the medbay, with a blue light above it. After you do a wandering staff side ops mission, go in there, and then through the next door you have to press a button to open

Cool thanks, will have to go give this a look, havnt explored much there. For some reason, every time I go to the medical platform I get distracted by something.

Quick question on mission 6:
Is it possible to prevent the russian from transfer hamad (the prisoner dude) to the other base, without alert them? Or is it scripted that hamad has to move to the other base?

I bought the helicopter music upgrade but where do I equip this? It says it's "On" but I don't hear anything when it comes in. Also where do I change the song that plays?

Can anyone give me help with mission 3
2
?

It's the
hard version of the mission where you destroy the three com stations
. It isn't fun at all.

Steal a gun and some ammo on your way there. Shoot the three communication stations from the area that overlooks the base until they are destroyed, then bounce.

I'm sure you would be able to stop them before they leave, especially if you do the mission later in the game after upgrading weapons and a certain buddy.

Thanks a bunch man. Would have taken me ages to realise I don't have to use explosives.

Actually the Destiny comparison earlier is pretty spot on =/

This game has a lot of notable tedium to it, from the loading screens to always doing everything from the ACC and not in field, unskippable missions intros in the chopper that pad things out, constant trudging around on the map, almost every mission is a variation on Destroy/Execute/Extract, plus the little plot significance of many missions.

Yet it's so bloody addictive, and the mechanics are great >_<

Anyway, couple of questions:

1) Can you fulton kids?
2) I'm at mission 29 now, how much is left?

Am I the only MGS fan that thinks the amount of story in the game is more than adequate?

After just about every main mission they bleed in more info about what's going on with Cipher. I feel like it's plenty, but they just do most of the story on the bookends of missions and over the radio while you're playing. Sure there aren't as many cut scenes but I think this is a good way of handling it. Think about some of the cutscenes in MGS4, they were just massive information dumps from a few specific characters while you sat there and listened while they panned some imagery on screen, or entire 1 hour conversations key to the plot were delivered over Codec in the middle of a boss battle in MGS2.

Also, we have to think that generally they're going to keep the amount of story the same, but now they have to spread it over gameplay that's significantly bigger than the olders MGS games. On average MGS 1-4 took me about 13 hours a piece to complete, which 1/3-1-2 of that time being cut scenes and codec calls. So really about 6 or 7 hours of game play for each first run. I'm a little under half way through the story missions and I'm already hitting 30 hours.

I managed to. I snuck under the bridge through a little square tunnel, wound up right near the jeep, and then reflex mode killed everyone other than the prisoner. Worked just fine, no alerts.

Omg, this game. I'm avoiding most of the Internet bc of it but I had to jump in and praise it for a second. This game is just so damn good. I can't stop thinking about it. I can't wait to get home so I can play more. That's a feeling that's getting really rare as I get older.

I missed the hint when it came on, but the first time I dove into prone, I think it told me how to roll but I can't seem to do it.

Anyone know how to roll while proned?

Fuck me I thought this game had cloud saves on Steam and moved the game off my SSD to my HDD. God damn it. 18 hours of progress lost.

Aim your weapon while prone, move the left analogue stick in the direction you want to roll, and click the stick in.

Ready your weapon and then press the LS in while tilting it L or R. I think. Not very intuitive since L3 is sprint when crouched/standing.

Seriously. Where the fuck are the god damn targets
I've not tried this, but if you grab a MB soldier while doing these, maybe you can interrogate them and use the "Where are the rest?" option to make more appear?

Mission 40 is another level of bullshit altogether, tha trick doesn't work here btw.

Also I hate how your stance while using Int scope is different than your stance while you use a sniper, You can see an enemy by barely peeking your head with the int scope, but soon as you change to a sniper and try to aim your character will pop out their head even further making for an easy target, giving you little room to aim before you get one shotted by a headshot.

1) Eventually.
2)
A few missions until you see the credits.

Use a soldier who has the 'Tough Guy' attribute. They'll be able to survive a bullet.

Be aggressive and use D-Dog to sniff
her
out.

Aim where you think you need to, move out of cover and immediately back until you are shot at, then move out of cover as soon as you can after the shot is taken and fire a shot yourself. Stay in first-person when doing this if you can; the orientation in third-person can screw you up.

Go to the Cassette option of your iDroid and a button (R2 maybe?) will allow you to set a song as your helicopter song

Without spoiling what it is, can you spoiler tag how to discover it?
When you go to the medical bay, go to where you'd start the target practice, look up and you'll see a door with a blue light above it. Make your way up there.

I'm assuming that's the one he's talking about, anyway.

No I certainly think that the amount of stuff is adequate, the way it's presented however is not optimal. It's spread out thin and you play a character who doesn't speak at all during gameplay (due to the fact that you can use other characters/grunts) but speaks a fair amount on tapes.

Tapes are also imo not a suitable replacement for codec because it's set in the past, the reason why I say they are not a suitable replacement is because you only hinder your gameplay if you listen to them while playing as you can't hear anything else....unless there is someone talking to you on the radio in which case you won't be able to hear anything on the tape.

But I'm not too fussed about this aspect, my biggest complaint is how it has been unevenly spread out and giving it a very thin feeling.

I'll have this game soon - anyone else playing on Xbox 360? How's the experience for you? I read the Digital Foundry review, but being behind a generation leaves little other options.

How did you do the
Skull missions on hard
? Barely anything I do is damaging them at all, and I'm near-enough dying in one hit

The open world being empty is a pro in my book.

It's not supposed to be some Ubisoft-style open world where you explore every nook and cranny for things to collect/do. It's just there to facilitate the open infiltration idea. It makes each base an open area that you can sneak into from different directions in a variety of ways.

If you're just aimlessly wandering the world, I don't think you're playing it the way it was designed to be played.

Destiny's open world doesn't serve anything in the gameplay. But MGSV's does, in a better way than most open-world games.

I feel very much the same as you. I was afraid we were going to get a DA:I theme park world where you're tripping over stuff every five feet.

Snake can survive a bullet too, provided it's not a headshot.

Locating is not an issue, and I am already doing that which you mentioned but gameplay should not resort to such cheese tactics but whatever I guess, camo and slow movement doesn't really seem to help in this case.

Which one?

I used
the tanks
in the truck one.

I used
a shotgun and D-Walker (equipped with a minigun)
in the
Code-Talker
one. The trick is to
use 'Square' to dodge the blade attacks as they come, and try to fire all of your shotgun rounds into the Skulls. They do a lot of damage, and can remove their armour pretty well. After that get into D-Walker, head behind the warehouse with the plane (where they are more restricted in their movements) and shoot them with the minigun when they are doing the 'mist attack' (if you get too close it'll rust D-Walker).

For the
rescuing Code-Talker one
I
used Stealth Camo. Smoke grenades also work, but I didn't have the patience for it.

Two questions! :)

Do anti-air radar stations etc stay destroyed forever?

And why is it that some side-ops remain highlightable in white text even though I've beaten them? I can't seem to reactivate them. Seems to happen the most with extra highly-skilled experts, as if I haven't extracted all prisoners even though the game says I've completed them. Edit: Seems to happen with most target practice missions too at mother base.
