Because it's not a spoiler? She was in the trailers and in the game she is just "there". You have had literally the same amount of narrative build-up as I have.

Tell me how it can possibly negatively impact your experience? Thanos all over again...

so you are just a prick then, cool.

Yep. Totally just started the game last night, only about an hour in, and thought i'd swing by the OT to see some peoples initial impressions.

"Surely these of all people will know to spoiler tag stuff" - Me, being naive.

Life of a perfectionist.

This is especially funny in hindsight.

That should be ban worthy. I wasn't spoiled because I already went through that but I if hadn't played this morning, you would have fucked it up for me and for sure would have messaged a mod to get you the fuck out of here.
I completely agree. And then he goes and defends his spoiler sharing it actually wasn't one.

Spoiler tags or ban, is what I say

The open world being empty is a pro in my book.

It's not supposed to be some Ubisoft-style open world where you explore every nook and cranny for things to collect/do. It's just there to facilitate the open infiltration idea. It makes each base an open area that you can sneak into from different directions in a variety of ways.

If you're just aimlessly wandering the world, I don't think you're playing it the way it was designed to be played.

Destiny's open world doesn't serve anything in the gameplay. But MGSV's does, in a better way than most open-world games.
Not just that but the mission structure itself can take place in multiple remote locations simultaneously. Targets are often on the move. You can tail one target or ignore them completely and get your Intel a different way. Mission 1 is a perfect example of how the open world enriches the mission design. This wouldn't be possible if each zone was separate. Once you've replayed the missions a few times it becomes clear that this stuff wouldn't be possible without an open world. Yes, not every mission takes advantage of this but most do. It would be nice if there were more enemy patrols between areas and more animals or things to find besides plants, but as it is I find it immensely satisfying, and I'm only on the 13 mission.

Seriously?! Dude
she literally died
at the end of Ground Zeroes, it's a huge spoiler. Just be a good sport and put some spoiler tags on it rather than wasting your time justifying why you shouldn't.

Hey guys in MB is there a specific place where DD/Ocelot/Kaz hang out where you can see random dialogue or something? Other than when some of them are at the LZ when you arrive.

Also how do you choose something to play on the damn helicopter speaker, bought the thing, can't seem to have figured it out.

Select a song and when you have it selected, press triangle or square (PS4 obviously. Can't remember which button it is). A yellow helicopter sign should appear next to the song name.

I didn't watch the trailers, thanks for continuing to act like it's not a big deal and leaving it unspoiler tagged. Glad I now know what to expect.

I want to know the same thing. Ocelot keeps saying to visit DD but looking around the base there are only other soldiers saluting, nothing else. No where to go inside or anything.

Seriously i've watched all the trailers and also saw it in the game but for people who don't know this it would be a huge surprise and definitely one of the biggest WTF moments in the game.

I feel bad for everyone who got spoiled.

First time I enter thread to see general feelings, get spoiled. Cool.

Ban that absolute fucker into oblivion >:(

Goddamn Mission 31! I assume the best way to get past this is by buying the best grenade launcher and rocket launcher I can currently get?

I edited in for ammo(for free) , and the who;e shower thing. But maybe if the supply drop is not very expensive? Also what about the new MB staff? I am guessing you probably dont need to go back to MB for them to be assigned? Still doesn't make sense why the whole chopper/MB thing takes all so needlessly long.

MB staff is assigned automatically if that's what you want Miller to do (I haven't dove into micromanaging that as so far everything is fine with me). Supply Drops aren't expensive either. You can make your money back just by grabbing materials and minerals as needed. You really shouldn't be worrying about GMP too deeply as you'll be getting a lot of it doing side ops, main ops, and hunting/fultoning anyway.

Oh and check out the reply I left for you. It answers the question on what the speaker is for.
I did see it. I'm totally using it on those side ops.

Question: if I'm hearing music through my iDroid speakers will soldiers hear me when I'm sneaking through? I don't even know if in using headphones or speakers have the time.

I'm going to say this again because it bares repeating.

Riot SMG - find that Blueprint asap.

If with the helmets on - you might burn your suppressor but if you have to you can just stun blast 2 guys out at once and walk over their bodies to the future.

Can you guys stop repeating "Wtf spoiler alert" and answer my question, your spam pushed me to last post on last page so no one noticed it. Plus he edited his message ages ago.

Also I finished whole game (well I think so - again, now I have questions) and didn't encounter scene from guy spoiled. So in hindsight it actually helped me since I didn't realize there were hidden triggers for some story cutscenes.

To use speakers I think you have to hit R2 and then there is an x over the speakers you have to remove it. Once it finishes playing a cassette I think it defaults back to headphones.

It's a spoiler, don't justify it just accept it and tag it.
There is a reason most people were shocked when they found out the first time.
People play MGS for little details rather than just the main plot so even if there is something that pertains to something other than the main plot it is a spoiler.

I guess I'm not feeling it, I'm a couple of hours in and all the main missions just feel generic and boring, I don't care for any of the characters. Does it get better? are more of the main missions given more purpose later on?

First time I enter thread to see general feelings, get spoiled. Cool.

Ban that absolute fucker into oblivion >:(

I've seen people banned for less.

I'm with you man, THERES AN ENTIRE SPOILER THREAD FOR THIS.

Anyone who thinks that the OT is a better place to post something like that than the Spoiler Thread is insultingly inconsiderate.

I miss ONE FUCKING TROUBLEMAKER and what does he do? He immediately kills Malak, the only fucking anesthesia specialist. There go my tranq pistol and sniper upgrades.

Fuck this system so much.

e: also fuck you jackpot

Instead of doubling down on being a douchebag why don't you just edit your post? Seriously, ban worthy.

Can someone answer this? I am super early in the game so maybe it isn't answered yet.

GZ Spoiler
Skullface posed as XOF, wanted to hurt Paz to get Cipher/Zero's location (presumably to kill him), and then attacks MB

EARLY (like 1-3 missions in) PP Spoiler
They keep saying XOF is a Zero/Cipher org that attacked MB. So... how was Skullface part of XOF, a Cipher Org, when he was hunting Cipher?

Why is it telling me to construct an FOB for the combat unit missions? I thought FOB was for online stuff only? I have more available units to send but I can't seem to queue up more than 2 active missions

How can you tell who the troublemaker is anyway? They all have these symbols but don't have a clue which one indicates a troublemaker.

Because having an F.O.B. increases your deployment. You don't need to do it, it just makes it faster/more available to do.

Outright says it in the member info.

I don't agree completely, it's pretty obvious that the focus are infiltrations and in the regard the world is perfect is just that the setting is... unispired outside the outpost, camps or villages, is minor if you understand that this is not the important thing for this game but you do have to travel a long way sometimes and most of the time is like a lame task. Personally if I want diversity I refer to the setting, I don't want collectibles or side stuff, I want populated villages and other settings that fit the area, even if you don't have anything to interact with.

Am I the only MGS fan that thinks the amount of story in the game is more than adequate?

After just about every main mission they bleed in more info about what's going on with Cipher. I feel like it's plenty, but they just do most of the story on the bookends of missions and over the radio while you're playing. Sure there aren't as many cut scenes but I think this is a good way of handling it. Think about some of the cutscenes in MGS4, they were just massive information dumps from a few specific characters while you sat there and listened while they panned some imagery on screen, or entire 1 hour conversations key to the plot were delivered over Codec in the middle of a boss battle in MGS2.

Also, we have to think that generally they're going to keep the amount of story the same, but now they have to spread it over gameplay that's significantly bigger than the olders MGS games. On average MGS 1-4 took me about 13 hours a piece to complete, which 1/3-1-2 of that time being cut scenes and codec calls. So really about 6 or 7 hours of game play for each first run. I'm a little under half way through the story missions and I'm already hitting 30 hours.
Urgh, yeah, I definitely dig the lesser story going on here. I thought I might miss codec stuff and I kind of did in Peace Walker, but here, you can do a lot of stuff while just letting the tapes play.

Is there a good Tips video? Lol I'm getting lost with some of the mother base jobs and etc. also what's the best way to farm resources. Lastly, is there a way to open containers or only through that cargo lift lol

XOF is part of Cipher but they went rogue, and they are now trying to hunt down Cipher. Zero was not part of the attack to Mother Base, that was all Skullface acting on his own.

So I upgraded my iDroid with speakers. What does that even do? Does that mean I can blast music from it and people will hear it too? Why would I want anyone knowing Im listening to Kids in America for the 20th time?

There's certain miscellaneous tapes in the world that are probably meant to go with that feature.

IE, the Afghan Lullaby, or the "Recorded in the toilet" tape. If I'm thinking correctly since this is an MGS game, I'd say those two would have effects when played in speaker mode, such as putting guards to sleep, or scaring a soldier away from searching the porta-potties if you're hiding in it.

Of course though, if so it's damn impractical due to the menu crawl and load times to get to those.

And the asshole still hasn't edited his huge spoiler with a spoiler tag. I'm 15 hours Ito the game and had no idea that that would happen. The imbecile spoiled it to me.

Fuck him. Can a mod at least edit his post so he doesn't spoil others?
I'm so fucking stupid, I went to see what all you guys were on about and spoiled it for myself. 22 hours in myself and I had no idea that would happen. My fault though for looking back though I admit it should have been in spoiler tags.

I take it this means it's revealed later then. Won't read the spoiler yet. Thanks!

How can you tell who the troublemaker is anyway? They all have these symbols but don't have a clue which one indicates a troublemaker.

Go to the staff list and "troublemaker" is listed under the abilities. You need to be on expanded view, I think by pressing triangle twice.

I read about the troublemakers yesterday and immediately culled them all.

Same thing happened to me. Is that seriously how this works?

From the cassettes it sounded to me like
Cipher grew out of control so Zero ditched and and went into hiding. I guess Skullface is part of Cipher and is trying to find out where Zero is hiding or something.
