Welp, thanks to Konami's shitty servers, I can't play the game. Every time I want to use the Idroid, it forces me to construct a FOB. But because it can't connect to the server, it just locks me out of control while the game loads forever.

Konami should add a Jack Bauer player model/Staff member so you could deploy as him and kick ass, Bauer style with Snake's in game prompt dialogue.

If they can't use Jack, let us use Keifer wearing Jack Bauer gear lol. (Leather jacket, jeans, shades)

I hope they have that hidden up their sleeves. I'd replay every mission as him

You know, also this effort into producing these art/animation assets and yet they couldn't have just put in a salute emote for Big Boss?

Hate when soldiers salute and he doesn't do shit... well except beat their asses!? WTF man!?

Yes, they should've included that. Kind of bizarre how it isn't in.

After doing about 7 missions and 4 side opps... im feeling a bit bored. Im getting quite tired of sneaking into places to take out or capture these people who dont stand out as interesting characters in any way... they are nothing more than portraits and unique skillsets to me. I need interesting characters to get into this very very soon... of its 40 hours of this, oh my...

Im currently replaying Peace Walker at the same time and enjoying that more...

MGS 3 and V boss story spoiler:

PARASITES, SON! Can't believe they went and explained the weird powers from 3 with parasites. I guess they needed some kind of magic tech before nanomachines...

THIS GAME IS SO FUCKING GOOD.

It really is the best stealth game ever made.

Like Videogamer said Ubisoft should be embarrassed with their asscreed series. MGSV is Kojima Productions first
and sadly last :(
open world game and it's miles better than any of the AC games.

I squirt their crotch with the water pistol then run away giggling. I am Big Boss.

I have no idea how to use Quiet. I can't seem to figure out how to tell her do to stuff. Also why does she hum when she's with me? I thought she was supposed to be Quiet.

Help is appreciated. Thanks.

I mean these-

I'm almost done with the game and I've yet to see them.

Ohhhhh. He actually wears them in the very FIRST Afghanistan cutscene, when you ride through the sandstorm with Ocelot. But after that they disappear and are never seen again sadly. I'd love to equip them at will but unfortunately that's not a thing....

so my R&D is almost full and i need it at 18 or whatever to upgrade the fulton, HOWWW
I cannibalized every other team to bump up the score. Default sorting tries to evenly spread the good soldiers, but you can stack the most talented onto one team to boost it's level

Wait till she's in position. She hums when she has a target and ready for your order.
Also there's a reason why she can hum but not speak.

I would have loved if he automatically puts on the scarf and googles once a sandstorm comes up, just like in that art.

It's weird but if you change very few things (old computers, casettes etc.) this game could easily pass as being set in 2015.

Cut the cord bruh! Offline is the only line I care about right now

replace people with a higher skill and/or add a 2nd R&D platform to increase capacity from the base development menu,

"Boss! We're almost at capacity! Stop sending soldiers! HEY, STOP PUSHING! MAN OVERBOARD!"

thanks guys! got it up to 18, much love

Yeah I love the scarf look, always use it unless I really feel like using the sneak suit for a night op or something.

It seems like it would be easy to add to the empty ass headgear menu so you could put them on before missions.

Oooh right there are head options, maybe you can unlock the googles? that would be pretty neat.

Btw. those are Eva's googles.

I beat mission 16 with practically zero trouble at all after a bit of trial and error.
Right after the cutscene where the skulls hop out of the truck finishes, I ran straight up a catwalk on a nearby building. I had Quiet positioned in such a way where she had clear shots at all of them. Because the skulls were funneled on this narrow catwalk, I just fired an ass load of rockets into them until they were all dead. None of them even got near me at any point (Quiet's shots would briefly stun them).

Mission 16:
I ended up finding the convey in an outpost and after the cutscene where the skulls hop out I ran to the truck and fulton'd it out of there, got in one of the armored vehicles and drove/ran out. I can't believe it worked.

There are 3 containers inside at the airport in Africa with no roof access =/.
I guess maybe I need to C4 the ceiling or something or use a truck.
Might have been covered by now, but you get an upgrade that sorts this out. Upgrade spoiler:
Wormhole Fulton! Can be used indoors.

I'm working my way towards the Hellbound mission right now. I have to do the two missions that
require you to blow up trucks, but I don't have a rocket launcher
so I've been spending my time in free roam and Side Ops. Overall, I'm really loving the game.

Positives

  • The mission structure and Mother Base development are a huge evolution over the systems in Peace Walker. MGSV lends itself well to long and short game sessions.
  • I really love the darker tone of the game. While in previous games there was a sort of (loveable) cheesiness, sections like the intro are downright harrowing.
  • Kiefer Boss is awesome.
  • The tapes are really well done. As opposed to regular audio logs, which act as a sort of diary, I enjoy that the tapes are more recordings of conversations between characters. Gives you the feeling that you're part of the conversation, as opposed to listening to something that's already happened.
  • I'm already forming multiple theories as to what's going on in the story. Can't wait to find out!
  • Gameplay is the best it's ever been. I feel like a complete badass most of the time (well, except for when I have to restart checkpoints multiple times during a mission), gunplay is amazing and the decision to go with 60FPS was the right one to make.

Negatives:

  • Silent Snake: I'm a big fan of 24, and Sutherland gives a great performance in the tapes - which is why I wish he would talk more during cutscenes. It's a bit jarring seeing Snake silent throughout the game, especially when other characters are having full conversations. On missions it doesn't bug me so much, but during cutscenes it becomes distracting.
  • While I'm not far enough into the game to judge how Kojima has handled this: I think Quiet's design is lazy, tonally dissonant and undermines her character.
Having her sit in the cell like an animal is a bit off putting as well, considering it's designed more like a cage.
General impressions seem to suggest that Kojima does a poor job at justifying her outfit, which is unfortunate because she is a great character.

Really enjoying it overall, and my only complaints thus far aren't real deal breakers, just disappointments. In the "Rate the MGS series" thread, I put MGSV (GZ+TPP) as my top game, and I feel confident that it will hold that spot.

Goddamn it
stop fucking lying all the time

So many annoying characters

SO MANY
He's such a pathetic, lying, sack of shit. Comes off kinda insane too, but Jesus in tape 7 of
Questioning Huey
I kinda think he was right lol

Yeah, this is what I did. I don't feel bad about cheesing it at all considering how much of a pain it is.

When people refer to the "true ending" are we talking about the secret mission 46? Strategy guide offers no tips on how to unlock mission 46.

I'm only on mission 16 but I'm curious what the requirements are? Hopefully nothing like S-rank every mission...

Nah. Just do some side ops between missions and they unlock fairly swiftly.

I'd like to know this as well. What's the name of the location?

I see a few side ops with extracing highly skilled people...I also want Take Me On

I got the tape a few minutes ago. Got it during side ops #
61
, some place called
Yako Supply Outpost
on the west side.

I dunno why people keep blaming Kojima for Quiet's design when it's really Shinkawa who people should be having a go about, he is the art director and character designer, after all. It might just be a case of Kojima trying to back up his pervy friend (and hey, Kojima is definitely no saint either, that's for sure).

Really? I'm a couple of tapes short but I should be getting it soon, will be interesting to see if I'll think the same as you. Right now it feels like I could never side with him lol

Man, I got my Fulton upgraded, D-Dog, and a tranq sniper rifle. I'm almost all set

Is there an easy way to get vehicles to stop in the middle of the road? Do I just park a car in the street?

for mission 16
if you have Fulton that can extract trucks, enter from the door behind the building beside the truck and run to the truck, after cutscene quickly Fulton the truck, run back to the opposite side and you will find a cargo jump on it, extract it and stay on top and press Action Button (Triangle) to be extracted with it. for the Truck Fulton you can find the Transportation Specialist in one of the previous missions, look in the mission details to know which one.

Soooooooo where are the surveillance cameras? The game keeps telling me they exist and I can even send out teams to disable them in the combat deployment but..

I've never even seen one before. Just finished Mission
18
and have yet to see a camera.

Is that another thing they start using later on?

I'm still pretty early on, but I just heard the radio message about
Quiet. Something about how there's a sniper out there who is super deadly.

Where do I have to go to
recruit her?
Or is it just something that will happen naturally?
