Just traded this in, and decided to jump in here to see how it ends.

So, you aren't Snake throughout the entire game? Is that for real? Holy shit, fuck this game.

MGS4 had much more cuts. The whole game was supposed to be designed so that you could influence the battlefield. Look at the production value that went into the Middle East map. Then this concept is cheapened in the second chapter, and non-existant afterwards. Chapter 3 is a mission where you just walk and then watch endless cutscenes and have a motorbike chase. Chapter 4 has one type of enemy and some Gekkou. Chapter 5 is a hallway.

MGS4 was a joke after the first chapter. People have a short memory, it was almost not even a game, just a bunch of long cutscenes. It had the worst story. At least MGSV realized what it set out to do for the most part. The story quirks are not making the game boring to play. The best battle in that game was against the Frogs. The others were just dumb patterns.

Talk about people with short memory...

He's not wrong about those cut scenes... They should have been handled better. But I for one loved all the acts. I don't love the boss fights that flowed but I really enjoyed them acts.
It's funny how much more game there is in MGS and it's set in one central location.

I'm not saying the cutscenes were short. They were long. Extremely long. But the "it was barely a game" is incorrect. The game still has several hours of gameplay.

Part of me wants to pretend that the story ended with the conclusion of Chapter 1. I liked that status quo, with Sahelanthropus onboard, the newfound ability to craft a nuke, and Quiet, Huey, and Eli all a part of Diamond Dogs. There were some good parts in Chapter 2, but for the most part the quality took a nosedive.

I'm sure this has probably been answered but is there a way to get quiet back after you complete the game? For sideops and replaying missions and what not.

Actually..

..in the nuclear trailer there's a cut between his walking/screaming. It's possible they used that same animation and simply transplanted it to Africa for the trailer. That or the fight against Eli was supposed to be in Africa?
Who knows. Big Boss is tired from the beginning of the cinematic so I don't think the scene was supposed to take place in Africa and they changed it for the trailer. A joke I made a couple months back is that his grieving pose is really consistent, knees, head back, looking up, arms spread lol

The mysteries and twists behind the development of the game are more appealing than the game's story itself.
I wanna see how they compiled some of the scenes. I wanna see what Kiefer was doing while the other actors were recording lines.

Apparently reading lines with zero expression, if that fancy facial capture technology was used.

That video of Kiefer doing the Snake faces was funny but seems very rarely used.

I may have found the cheapest way to defeat the Skulls on extreme with an S rank,

I barely did anything KEK.

Beans. Spill them.

I've been enjoying the social aspect of discussing mission strategies. Lots of people giving different recommendations because of all the different approaches you can take.

Just finished the game, holy fuck that ending. TBH i think it was good, the biggest problems of the game are not that but how it builds towards it and how poorly the pace of the story is.

Also, i don't think mission 51 should have been in the game, but i do think Eli's part of the story should've had a better closure, only a fan of the series could understand it the way it is currently.

finally got the outfit combo i wanted

Turns out D-Dog was really D-Walker hypnotized into believing it was D-Horse all along. Thanks to the nanomachines in the Boss's parasite's AI, D-Walker was able to steal the Philosopher's Legacy from Drebin after his sister Olga drowned in the pool with their father, Ames. Now Metal Gear Arsenal Gear has become mass produced by every nation with nukes.

And it was all orchestrated by one person this entire time - that annoying Mexican kid from MGR.

even as a fan of the series i'd like to know what happens to Liquid's mech/nuclear weapon launcher and the vial of parasites capable of destroying the entire English speaking world lol

That's racist! He's not mexican.

"YOU KNEW?

Oh, another thing. The doc says the shrapnel is lodged deep into V's skull, and it's touching his optical nerve. Who cares, he's supposed to be blind from that eye!

Not reading the thread at all because I'm not all the way finished.

Super surprised that someone else in the gaming world used the Tales of Legendia story structure of:

1st halfish of the game is the main story
2nd main part of the game is post-main story and focuses on character development.

I think I said this before the game was out, but I really want the Big Boss who appears at the end of MGS4 to be Venom Snake. Personally, that would help smooth over the inelegance of particular narrative aspects of this game while simultaneously justifying the complete idiocy and pointlessness of MGS4's ending. I'm more than willing to forgive fudged details (extremely fudged, in this case) if the result is thematically appropriate, which I think Venom making peace with Snake is. Rising fixed nanomachines, so let this fix surprise Big Boss.

So... when did Ocelot become a expert at Hypnotherapy anyway?

I guess being the son of the Fear might give him magic powers but thats one of the many things that wasnt really touched on in any of the games. I dont think I even knew that until years after MGS3 when I was reading a wiki.

I'm guessing Liquid managed to possess Ocelot because Mantis. I'm thinking this is supposed to be a thing now.

Let Quiet do it?

Pretty much. Run and go into the main building (top floor), crotch down near the boxes and let Quiet do the rest. You MAY need to move from time to time to avoid the one attack that explodes. Took about 20 minutes.

That'd be great, if I still had Quiet.

KOJIMA TOOK QUIET AWAY FROM US

...BUT KOJIMA TOOK QUIET AWAY. HE TOOK CUTSCENES, STORY, MY SOCIAL LIFE AND NOW NOW HE TOOK QUIET

WHAT IS THIS

Anyone annoyed they felt the need to explain The Cobra Unit's powers in this game? I don't understand why he feels the need to explain all the supernatural stuff away has science mumbo jumbo when you've got Psycho Mantis and The Sorrow doing their thing.

I think he was like "oh parasites! that works as an explanation" and threw it in there.
