Not with MGS 5. 900p vs 1080p is what you'd expect considering the hardware gap.
Yeah, whatever they did (and I personally choose to believe the rumour of MS sending out engineers), it brought it back to what you'd expect.

1080p vs 900p is expected. But this...

..not so much.

In addition to the graphical differences, it's worth noting that this turned out to be another game where the i3/750ti combination "matches or even exceeds" PS4 performance. This still seems to be the case more often than not.
Anyway, in my opinion the only bad thing about this PC version is that they didn't integrate HBAO+. The NV driver-level setting shows that it's both much better and not more expensive than their AO.

Wat. The hell of disparity you are talking about O_OHow many 1080 60 fps locked you see on PS4? I don't think that's really important. The disparity between two with Fox Engine games has been atypical compared to most other games.
Async compute has not discovered recently on ps4 and PC slightly ahead with xbone somewhere in the distance? O_O seriously? So PC slightly ahead with PS4 practically biting at its tail and Xbox trailing somewhere in the distance. As expected then considering the hardware in the respective 3 boxes. I believe that the PC-PS4 gap is even smaller than the one for Ground Zeroes which is doubly expected due to the recent revelation that PS4's ability to use async compute provides a massive boost in performance. It's a shame that Kojima Productions has disbanded as, with the next iteration of the engine, I could easily see the gap fully close.
I don't know about this game in particular, but generally HBAO+ is pretty cheap performance-wise given the quality of the result it achieves. Just give it a try. What's performance like using the driver HBAO versus in-game AO? Personally had to drop the in-game version from very high to high to keep a consistent framerate in the denser areas.
Maybe this is an oversight, because SSS is usually not expensive at all.
Wait a 750Ti is enough to match PS4 level at 60 locked?
big difference but they missed the fact you can force hbao+ on nvidia cards and unlock the framerate for 144hz
FXAA it's definitely better on ps4 compared MGS GZ. It seems FXAA high setting. I suspect it wasn't even FXAA at the time but just a PPAA. I don't know about pc version however. The community has already found how to unpack the files and pave the way for INI edits and mods.
My biggest comaint with the game is the terrible AA implementation. FXAA adds far too much blurring to the image.
Soon.

Quite a drastic difference AF makes, I wonder once again why 16xAF is not standard on consoles.
Game is absolutely superb on PC, just like GZ and definitely a very significant cut above any console versions on burly hardware.

If you mean "pc on low settings" then yes its slightly ahead.
Thats what you mean right? Right?
implying the framerate wont eventually be unlocked
PC version for me...hopefully in a patch or two they add in HBAO+

Missing textures on PS4 and PC!

Glad I went for PS4, the PC isn't that big of a jump and I got to play it with DS4 with PS controller icons. It's just sad that developers don't include them as an option. Even Arkham Knight for all the shit it got had a native DS4 support.
This is only the definitive edition article. Wait for the definitive edition remastered article
In case anyone missed it -

The addition of screenspace reflections in the PC version is a neat subtle touch too.

Brilliant.Consoles doing there bit for the environment by turning lights off.
Knowing some people seem to enjoy texture sharpening filters and strong contrasts it wouldn't surprise me if someone said the Xbone pic was better :lol
And stronger AO![]()

Does the game actually have volumetric clouds on console? It says it in the article, but none of the screenshots show them (or in the PC screenshots for that matter).
Yeah it is. It is only limited to specific areas on console (hospital for example), while on PC it is anywhere as long as it is glossy enough.
