The IGNSOC nonsense is giving me flashbacks of the fake Fallout 4 ARG a few years back.

It reminds me far more of the counter to Peace Walker and MGRevengence's announcement. Both games were announced at the same time, with a counter on a puzzling site very similar to this one.

Also, too many links to Hideo, PT, MG, 1984 and hence MGSV, for this to be done by someone else.

And Black Hound / Gray Fox.

So I've figured out i'm a doppleganger, got quiet to kill herself, Huey is floating in the drink and liquid has my Gundam. Is that it as far as story goes? I've seen main credits roll 3 times now.

I don't believe I ever saw the cutscene with the MB soliders fighting when VS comes up and makes one of the soldiers stab him. I also never saw Eli's boss battle. I just knocked him out when he stood on the ledge of his boat. Bah. Also, why did they say he had no relation to VS in the end? I figure it was a massive hint that VS what not BB but eh I could be wrong.

MS Base soldiers fighting is when their morale gets too low.
The Eli cutscene happens if you don't flub the fight and tranq him.
Venom Snake isn't related to Eli, so that's why the test failed. Real Big Boss would be related.

Possibly the angle that even though the ruse was sorta cheap, it did mean that the player themselves became Snake. They weren't playing a character, they were a clean slate.

It's a stretch but it adds weight to tge idea that the final mirror acene is Kojima talking to the fans.

"You and me are both the boss... Thank you, friend" etc.

The "thing that's never been done in videogames before" was a reference to something with the rumored Camp Omega mission/GZ savefile transfer, not anything to do with the main themes of the game.

Whatever it is, it was either never implemented or cut before release. There are no references to it in the strategy guide.

One more thing, did they change the timeline in the Truth mission ?

In the intro I remember the doc showing me mirror number 1, then after a brief talk, mirror number 2 before quiet strangles him. He talks about the plastic surgery then too, but no cut to black or otherwise.

In the same intro in "The Truth" the doc shows mirror 1, says they're gonna do the plastic surgery, then it cuts to 48 hours later with mirror number 2 and the longer photo scene and the flipping it around part (WHICH HAD MY NAME ON IT !!!) before quiet does her thing.

That bit made it somewhat seem like Medic/Venom was subconsciously aware of what's going on. Maybe by the time he got to the freighter the hypnosis had fully kicked in.

Anyone else feel that way ?

V gets his real memories back, so yeah the events unfold as they actually did. The doc had no idea about BB and so on, just that this guy had to have his face changed cause people were looking for him.

Not playing as the real BB was the first thing people said when the trailers started coming and the release of Ground Zeroes. It was the most obvious twist and its a shame that Kojima used it instead of following through and turning BB into a war criminal/tragic character with an incredible character study this game should have been. As The Boss said, todays good can be tomorrows evil, its a shame Koj decided that BB is too awesome to be an antagonist the franchise has always maintained. Fuck lore i guess.

The thing that is frustrating to me is how much of the post-MGS2 games are devoted to the "Big Boss was actually a good guy that fell from grace" concept yet it seems like we are never actually going to get to the interesting part of that concept.

I'm fine with the "two shadows" idea, but the game gives the impression that Venom's "fall from grace" happened during the off-screen timeskip.

Yeah... let it go, dude.

Mission 46 unlock requirements remain a mystery to me. It just unlocked for me and I haven't finished building out Mother Base, have done one or two of the "harder" repeat missions and just saw Huey exiled. I still have Quiet too.

I wonder if the requirements for unlock are based on time played or the internal clock to keep it secret as long as possible? Like, it gets easier to unlock the further from 9/1 we get?

so the doc changed it *to* big boss's face ? or was it already changed to big boss's face in the 9 year period ?

Just keep doing the missions. 45 i think is the final Quiet mission, and 46 got me got unlocked when I finished 47. I unlocked 46 and 48 through 50 all at the same time then.

Keep doing the missions and if it comes to an impasse, do a few of the side ops. There's no specific 'trigger' besides that i think. Quiet's mission kicks in after the mother base slaughter cause all her story beats go like 'she had to leave cause she saw the parasite mutation and didn't think ti was safe for her' etc.

I think it ties in perfectly with EVA's speech from MGS4 where she talks about the Big Boss being an icon and an idea, even if its false. I haven't fully digested it yet, I did mission 46 today and am currently listening to the tapes.

He didn't have BB's face during all that time, he had his real face. Then they changed it to BB's after he woke up. If they had changed it before it would have just put him at risk.

Anyone else get the feeling that Miller is still a Cypher mole?

I mean, he could have been all the way up to the point where he was killed pre-MGS1,

Would certainly explain why Liquid wanted him dead.

Not sure if he is a Cipher mole, but he is definitely a villain or future villain. It does sound like he is though, although he could well be manipulated through his anger. The phone conversation with Ocelot doesn't make a lot of sense. He says he'll use SS and V to send BB to hell, but presumably he still wants to take out Cipher. Logically, this conversation would take place much later than MGSV, because of the way they talk about the two kids. Kind of confusing, like pretty much all post-credit phone conversations of every MGS titles, even MPO, they often are thrown in the trash by the next game.

What was up with the motherbase scene where quiet attacks a soldier and starts plunging a knife into his mouth? It happened to me before chapter 2 IIRC and I never really got what happened.

He was infected with the parasite. She knew. Its mentioned that he was one of the first ones to go symptomatic.

I think it was implied that he was one of the first infected and she wanted to take him out to prevent the parasites from spreading. Don't remember if it was in a tape or another cutscene.

No that's what I'm saying I DID unlock it. Haven't done 47, haven't lost Quiet, haven't pimped out MB fully, etc.

Ocelot later says that guy was one of the first parasite leak victims, so maybe Quiet could sense the parasite in him ? She was trying to knife his throat after all..

I'll have to pay closer attention while I go through and S-rank but I took this to be that she sensed he was infected.

I used that as a clue on finding out who are infected, that it had something to do with their mouths (which ended up being language).

God damn thats what the cut content they were talking about huh, Hope we get them one day.
As Kotaku said when they reported it, I could've seen it being released as DLC or in a new edition next year but the fact that they just dumped what appears to be everything related to it on that disc and go through the episode in explicit detail makes that doubtful.

Thats such a shame I bet konami was rushing Kojipro to wrap the game up, That could have been a great bossfight

Not only are his eyes weird, they kind of look like Code Talker's. When BB asked him if anything was done to his eyes, Kaz says "no it's just bright...". Really? Plus, when CT is possessed by the parasites speaking to him, he recites what you would expect a spy to say; "secret meetings between containers, Ocelot's aim is off today", etc., and then says "eyes on Kaz, a message from the parasites". If the parasites are speaking these things to CT (he says it's a message from the parasites), it means they can "see" and hear things; they are reporting to CT about what they have seen. The parasites can be used as a communication/intel gathering device, and they have been around for a long time, decades, centuries, recording everything? Logically, Cipher/AI would eventually be able to store all that info. Nice little way of justifying that the AIs would know everything (except supposedly Ocelot hypnotizing himself lol).

They're not weird he's blind, that's why he needs Snake and Ocelot to be his eyes.

Yeah, it really is such a shame. I don't know how the game would've felt with another ending though. There are already two, neither of which are particularly satisfying, but I personally think the Quiet one is better.
This one.

Not sure what triggers it or why she does it, but it's there.
I loved this scene.

Just to confirm: no way to get Quiet back after beating the game? Had some S-Rank related plans for her postgame...

Also, I'm confused about the whole split thing. Miller/Ocelot say The Real Big Boss goes off the create Outer Heaven in Secret, with Venom in charge of Diamond Dogs. Then it states in the timeline that Solid kills the Venom first, then The Real Big Boss. But isn't the bad guy faction in Metal Gear 1 called Outer Heaven? Shouldn't it be Diamond Dogs, or shouldn't Solid kill The Real Big Boss first, then Venom (not sure what the bad guys in MG2 are called).

I think Kojima is just as confused as we all are.

They're not weird he's blind, that's why he needs Snake and Ocelot to be his eyes.

Is he blind? The first thing that happens when we find him is he's trying to close his eyes, and V asks him "did they do something to your eyes?", he replies "No, it's just so bright", and V gives him his glasses.

He never takes them off until that speech, and that speech isn't to V and Ocelot; he's going on a rant about everyone being suspicious and how no one should trust their own comrades, and how THEY (DD soldiers) will be his eyes. V and Ocelot are not being talked to when he gives that speech, in fact they seem both worried by his attitude.

Add to this CT's "Eyes on Kaz" after pretty much telling V Kaz is a spy.

Anyone else think it's a huge stretch that venom is able to do everything that he does?

It is, but the game allows you to play as any random guy in your base that can also do everything V/BB does.

Basically, the game doesn't give a fuck about BB. Totally devalues him as a character and as a soldier.

I don't understand why Quiet never writes or tries to communicate to others in the other language (like she did in her ending) or like learn a language...or get a translator for her alternate language.

Well I guess I do understand why, it's just cause fuck you that's why....lol
