I'm an idiot. I didn't even know you could hijack the tanks. I thought you had to blow them up. Do you sneak up to them and press triangle?
I started with trying to snipe a Skull with my tranq sniper, from relatively close-by didn't work out good and they went all aggro and I just sprinted to the tanks. The Skulls take actually a lot of time to jump around, so it was easy to get to a tank and just press the entering button. After you're in, they barely do any damage and even if your tank is destroyed you just leave it automatically and can sprint to the next. It's really funny, got a S-Rank for that.

btw. Kaz' eyes seemed fine when we brought Huey back.

"This is good isn't it?"

"Yeah...hey wait I got question?"

"Huh?"

"How come you didn't have a horn anymore when we fought in Zanzibarland?"

"Uhhhhhhh..."

"Oh, and you managed to get a real hand back then too."

"UHHHH"

"Well?"

"Um...BLARGH IM DEAD"

nanomachines

real answer is kojima didn't think this well, so we're supposed to imagine that maybe Solid Snake didn't get a good look at him in Outer Heaven.

No clue. I think it's implied that Kaz is now blind but it happened before you even rescue him. But he seems to see fine. And there is the reference with "you'll be my eyes" but he seems to be able to see shit ok.

Codetalker is probably blind and uses the parasites to "see"
Yeah, Kaz being blind was the first thing I thought of, except there are all these scenes where it's pretty clear he sees or was hit by a radioactive truck. Wouldn't that contradict later games?

I assumed Code Talker's eyes were the result of parasitic therapy but Kaz using it too would be a huge deal to hint at so casually.

looks like the same grey ghostly eyes.

Kaz is not blind, he is a spy most likely infected with parasites. Code Talker pretty much says so in one of the scenes, and the parasites speak to CT as if they were reporting on what they saw: "secret meetings between containers, Ocelot's aim is off today". The parasites tell him "Eyes on Kaz", and he says to V it's a message from the parasites. Parasites are really the nanomachine precursors. Heck, Skull Face even says they've been around forever, so if we ever get an MG game set during WWII or WWI expect parasites to be there.

When V first finds Kaz, he asks him if they did something to his eyes cause Kaz is turning his face away and closing his eyes, and he says "no, it's just so bright" (bullshit), and V gives him the glasses. He never takes them off until that speech. He was hiding his eyes from V.

When he says "you will be my eyes", it's during his big INGSOC/Big Brother/1984-like speech where he says no one is to be trusted and everyone has to be watched at all times, and there's the "Big Boss is watching" posters that appear, which is a 1984 "Big Brother is watching" thing. Kaz is a villain in the making. And when he makes this speech, it's fricking sunset in his face, so the "it's so bright thing" was really bull.

Just watched Kingdom of Flies...fuck. I hope we get that as DLC.
I saw some people talking about a true ending the other day, are there two different endings?

Except the plot does nothing with that.

Because it will in the future. He's dressed like MG1 BB. He's going back to Foxhound. He says to Ocelot that he'll send BB to hell using SS and V.

There is the ending of Chapter 1 (which should have been the games actual ending)
The ending with Quiet
And the Truth ending from mission 46

And the proper ending which was mission 51 which was cut.

I'm watching the Miller rescue scene and he definitely has pupils before he puts his glasses on

Which means that whatever happened to his eyes happened during the events after his rescue.

Exactly. You can say a lot of cool sounding things but unless you actually do something with it, it's meaningless.

It's MGS2 all over again.

It'll take years for the dust to settle before people recognize the masterpiece.

Hahahah. Maybe from a gameplay perspective it's a masterpiece but no, people aren't going to start huffing that Ether Juice and start claiming this narrative to be a masterstroke.

I would not count on it.

The hidden meanings and references in MGS2 are nice (some fans go a little overboard with analysis) but even without any sort of 'meta narrative' the plot is still intricate and interesting. MGSV's plot is barren. There is nothing here.

Great, so when he says it's so bright but then later on gives a speech with the sun in his face, we know something is up.

Huh. I wonder if there was a plan to do another outbreak in MB itself (forcing Code Talker to synthesize a cure) or if it was just typical Kojima trolling in the trailers.

I agree 46 is bad.

Its the same shit bar the horse scene. Its a great prologue to witness once, but falls flat on a second play. Tutorial shit being in there again makes matters worse. They just copy pasted the whole thing there.

I don't know. I think it was a little more literal since he was probably sitting in the dark with a bag over his head for at least nearly 2 weeks.

But what? We have no idea what it could be if there even is a thing. He sees perfectly fine so there isn't any question on if he is blind or not. What caused it? Well there is no change so nothing caused it. Why? Because it looks interesting and gets people talking.

The truth? He puts contacts in to fuck with people at his burger joint and just leaves them in on Mother Base.

I thought for sure that Kaz was going to be a spy or something going from Code Talker's warnings to Revolve Ocelet's jab at anyone being a spy. Something like Skull Face and Kaz were working together prior to GZ and Skull Face burned him.

Well Kaz was a spy in PW but then that gets glossed over at somepoint and he's all in on BB until the post ending codec when he's all "fuck that, I'm gonna get my own Snake!".

That remains to be seen and we'll see what Kojima does, if anything till December. For me though, I enjoyed aspects of the story/ending. It sure as hell is memorable than shit tons of games which is weird how some people are overreacting with their opinion but I guess that twist generated dat salt and soured them on the rest of the experience, to each their own though.

I mean, everyone but Venom was a spy in this game for Big Boss and Zero.

Looking back at how off handed that comment was, it's quite funny considering Ocolot and Kaz are playing Venom like a f
iddle
ool, and Code Talker goes right after Quite and starts talking to her and gets her plan and never tells anyone till after.

Helping me out by ordering supply drops while the previous pile is still lying there. Yup. Fuckin' gold digger.

I swear Quiet was messing with me. Constantly ordering Supply drops in the open. One foot out of hiding and I get one shot by some rando tank sitting 6km away.

His shifting loyalties are touched upon in the Quiet scene where Ocelot rightfully points out that they could all be spies, but yeah, I wish Kaz's character arc was a bit more obvious, between Code Talker's cryptic warning, his eyes and Kaz generally being an asshole, I expected a bigger payoff I guess.

Honestly, it's not so much the (unnecessary) twist as story threads generally falling apart or being poorly executed that has soured me on the narrative side.

Snatcher project bro, BB is supposed to be a cyborg in MG2 remember

I finished the game last night & looking back on the ending I really don't like it. The game was great, but I really didn't like the story & now that I've lost Quiet I can't be bothered doing any Side Ops. Really wish I hadn't done her fucking mission now.

I'm saving the vast majority of Side Ops for when I unlock Raiden.

The end of the scene where quiet finds the necklace in the acidic gas, Kaz uses his crutch to feel around for the necklace on the floor like a blind man. Strange.
