As a HUGE Metal Gear fan, I just want the series to die already. With, or without Kojima. No more, please.

indeed, even with Kojima on board, what could he even do? He just showed he won't actually show Big Boss becoming a demon, so what's left for him to do? Show Solid Snake's adventures destroying Metal Gears before the Tanker? A Boss game? I don't trust him or Konami with either of those.

Big Boss, circa the end of MGS3 is on track for Outer Heaven/Zanzibar Land.

Peace Walker...maybe. Having nukes, seeing The Boss dragged into the light again. If he ended that one a bit more angry, would make perfect sense.

MGS V is a stretch but it's not impossible. Outer Heaven from Venom I can get, especially if Miller if giving him bogus and potentially hurtful advice. When he bails and when Ocelot leaves to take up his duty at shaping Liquid, Venom has Big Boss's memories and his own choices to make. He's the guy who threw himself in front of Big Boss out of loyalty, he'll make BB's nation for him. Boom, Outer Heaven, killed up by BB's clone, done and done.

I like the idea that BB is doing Zanzibar Land in semi-secret, that Solid's interference was unexpected. But we don't know enough about Big Boss in this time period, why he would go on with that even after seeing Outer Heaven go down. Not expecting him to just give up on the idea but...Well. It got us the ending of MGS 4, so I can't complain TOO much.

Sometimes I just don't get why people can't have fun haha. Stuff like this has always been a part of MGS games after 2 and I find them fun. Who knows, with Kojima's insanity they could also turn out
true.

I mean, how could it be true? Why would a company set something like this up? It has to be a fake, the memo about the restructure that set everything into motion was March 3rd and the website was registered on March 1st

...

wait what

Yeah. And people asking for a game about The Boss have no idea of what they are asking for....

This game did not get evil. "Acid does more to the container" quote, where did that ever apply? Do we apply it to Kaz and not BB? I was on the edge of my seat when he fired into the cell of the child soldiers, jaw down. Oh wait, it's nothing.

I'm looking forward to December where kojima can open up and spill the beans.

Even the quarantined zone where you have to eliminate the infected soldiers while Huey is voicing his disgust in you. That scene was great, yet eventually deemed pretty insignificant when you realize it was never even BB.

I would take another Rising. I'm sure Platinum could talk to Kojima on the sly.

Otherwise let it die. MGSV wasn't really a necessary game.

That was somebody else. If you check the shot you see very quickly that there's two people with bandaged faces.

I think they we're going to do it until the whole Kojima/Konami fiasco happened, remember the Rising "2" image that got plastered around for a while before it got shot down by Konami?

Just can't believe it went out like this.

How I feel about this game is that I absolutely love it since it's one of the best playing stealth games I've ever played. So I'm glad that the series ends with that.

Story wise it's bad but then I've been finding the story in the series to be bad since MGS4.

and you realize Huey is just being a hypocrite because he killed his lover and was willing to risk his son's life

Likewise. I feel like he's washed up after finishing TPP.

I don't think he's washed up, I think he's been forced to continue with Metal Gear over new IP for over a decade now. His other project at Konami was a Silent Hill reboot, they wanted him on established IP to make money. Having the freedom to create something new could be very good.

And as far as gameplay goes, he's anything but washed up.

Speaking of the disease it would have been more of a character moment if Big Boss himself made it spread to Mother Base. That's the impression I got from the 'Chapter 2 preview' but nope the real demon, Huey Emmerich, is the reason.

Plus the whole Eli angle doesn't make any sense. Basically negates the relationship in the game when its not the real BB. Tape Big Boss basically shits all over his clones and doesn't want anything to do with them. And if Eli interacted with that Boss I could see him becoming the Liquid we know. But Venom Boss basically reaches out to Eli and is a nice guy to him.

Another thing that leads me to believe that maybe this twist was thrown together.

I really do think more plot was planned, but I'm curious as to how much of the cut work was Kojima, and how much was Konami pulling the plug and and the dev team salvaging what was left.

It feels a lot like Xenogears to me. Amazing first-half, then a second-half that takes a weird narrative turn. It wouldn't surprise me if, like Xenogears, it was due to budget and meddling suits.

I feel like this is what happened.

Chapter 2 was the huge budget cut chapter. damn shame.

We already let go after MGS4.

I say Konami do one more. Just so we can finally find out if Metal Gear Solid can exist without Kojima. It could even be an iOS card game, as long as the story is there. Like, I want an origin story for Kerotan and GA-KO, it could be more interesting than The Phantom Pain. Think about it Konami.

I know they would probably ruin Boss but something about The Pain shooting bees at nazis on Omaha beach is something I'd really love to see.

Yeah, ideally it sounds cool. But just imagine what Kojima would do with it.

"The Boss was a scrub who trained under a legendary World War 1 hero called Magnus Boss. She developed CQC alongside her own pupil, Jack. She eventually gave birth in the battlefield of Normandy, but died during childbirth. One of her apprentices, called "The Joy", took her place in the battlefield as a doppelganger in order to keep the spirit of her master alive. And this girl is the one that became The Boss that we met in MGS3".

You KNOW it would happen.

im excited for a new Kojima IP, look at how good the actual game in this one is, now take all the baggage of having to answer questions the fans wanted and having to use an already existing cast away, and we'll probably be looking at a new fantastic series.

This makes me so mad. we literally learned nothing from this game. Nothing about BB, and nothing about outer heaven. This game leaves so many questions unanswered when it was supposed to be the game to answer all the questions we had about BB post peace walker pre MG1

I think I know now why I didn't care about the body double twist, it's because I never played or cared for MG1 and 2. I only read notes of them and I pretty much started from MGS1.

I hope it's mecha related so I can get my spiritual Zone of Enders sequel.

I keep re-thinking how I feel about the story overall. There were great elements, I enjoyed the tapes, especially the truth tapes with Zero, although in those tapes Zero kinda downplays the whole parasite stuff making it feel a bit unimportant. Idk I wish there was more about the big boss's story. And how I wish we got to see solid snake.

I wanted 2/3 things from this game.

1. Signt & Paramedic as bad guys.
2. Solid in an Epilogue(could even picture Solid standing over BB's 'dead' body with TBIYTC playing)
3. Ocelot torturing Signt epilogue(knew it wouldn't happen though)

It should have been the MGS4 of the Big Boss era, meaning it should have answered literally every fucking question that tied into how this game leads into the Solid Snake era.

Can't believe they cut episode 51. It looked amazing and gave at least a little bit of closure for one story thread. It was the most mgs scene in the whole game and it got cut. Sigh, at least we can watch the cutscene online.

It was impossible for it to be like that and I knew it the more we saw gameplay videos. The structure of the game just doesn't support a lengthy narrative unless Konami has no problem in throwing in even more money for it because this would probably be a 100 hour campaign.

Oh god, if this ever happened...

I want a WWII Boss centric game so much, but I don't think I could bear something like this happening.

There'd probably be some bullshit about The Boss getting it on with Jack and him actually being Ocelot's father instead of The Sorrow.

It honestly feels like they intended to make a sequel, but i think we all know that's not gonna happen.

Well there is the dialogue on the base where the soldiers are talking about the Boss and stated that her and Jack were lovers.

My main issue with this game is NOT that it didn't answer questions. My issue is that it created more unnecessary questions...

If you are not going to answer stuff, then at least don't introduce more bullshit that creates more questions... :(

There is absolutely no way Kojima would make a game about The Boss without thinking "Well, I already introduced the Venom Snake bullcrap to the series. I need an even bigger and crazier twist for this new game".

At this point in time I just want the series to die with the timeline as intact as possible.

This hasn't even happened yet and I'm pissed off.

FFS Kojima.

Shiiiit. I clicked on wrong freaking thread and just spoiled the ending. I kept reading thinking kinda weird that there's no tags and then bam. I see we the ending. So, I'm gonna spoiler tag cause in paranoid.
We are playing as a fake big boss?
please don't tell me any more details than if this is big twist or not. If so what's all the bitching for? I saw it coming since the intro. Fun little twist.

I can agree with that. But the "story" of TPP has left me very skeptical.

No, we definitely are playing Big Boss in this. Just play it.

Just got Paz's ending and I gotta say that was the last thing I wanted from this story. Paz was literally the last character in the game I had any interest in since anything else either went nowhere or got an equally awful conclusion. So then the twist is she lived, but she didn't live is the second twist and the first twist was just a lie so we can have it all happen again?

God damn that pissed me off. Not just the awful approach of it being a double twist where nothing is real about it but the fact the tapes in GZ make it easy to feel sorry for Paz as a character, then all we get is brief hope we might actually save someone followed by more crap for her then find out it was never real. It doesn't even make any sense since this isn't the same Boss. Damn this stupid story, all I wanted was one victory but I can't even get that from it. I'm surprised D-Horse and DD didn't need to be killed too.

Btw I didn't play Chapter 45 as I want to keep Quiet but is there any lead-in to 46?

They just dump it on you.
No. There's literally no buildup to it at all. They just go "HERE IT IIIIIIIIIS!" I may not have minded the twist as much if Venom had slowly begun to realize that he isn't who he thinks he is and then unravels the mystery, climaxing in us seeing his true memory of what happened. But nope. It's just kind of thrown at you because twist.

Damn that's wild. I like it. Hope they don't screw up the explanation. You lied though, that's not as bad as MGS4! Just messing with you. I'll see how it pans out ;)

Well bro, it's all relative. Of course I would say that since I absolutely LOVE MGS4. Some people here consider the twist to be worse than MGS4, others consider it to be better. But the general consensus is that the twist is terrible regardless.

Glad you enjoyed it, though.

It was all in his imagination because of the guilt he had for her. It's one of the better aspects in the story honestly. It'll make sense when you do the wandering assholes side ops and give her the pictures you collect.

screams that kojima probably had another way to reveal it but konami didnt allow the budget so they just had to copy paste the prologue and then add the new scenes in there.

Nope, it's pretty much dumped on you.

Come to think of it Episode 45 and 46 reminds me of anime like Cowboy Bebop or Evangelion in which episodes leading up to the finale actually finish certain story arcs (e.g. Quiet in this case) but when you finally get to the last one BAM here's an ending.
