Well Kojima did say that he was not too concerned with minor plot holes while writing Metal Gear Solid V because "fun" should trump everything else in entertainment.

"The most important part is writing something that is fun, something that is impressive, something that is better than it was before," Kojima said. "So sometimes in the interest of doing this, of having a better experience, we sacrifice some consistencies in the story. I hope the fans and players understand this, but I need to write the best we can, even if there are some small discrepancies."
That quote makes me wanna laugh and/or cry.

I think he takes drugs and then writes stuff.

So after getting the true end, listening to the truth tapes, and listening to the leaked/data mined auto clip from Venom I come up wiht one conclusion. Both Naked and Venom Snake are basically Big Boss. Both make the legend. I feel that Since Venom was BB's Most trusted man, he sent Solid snake to Outer Heaven to Kill SS. I'm going off this based on the Truth tapes. Big Boss doesn't acknowledge any of his clones' existance, he despises them. I think when He finally had one join Foxhound, it was the perfect opportunity to Kill him.

However as we all know, SS was basically a tool of the patriots and Killed Venom.

Another amazingly stupid plot point.

Why does Mantis never even approach that level of power in 1?

He exceeded it by breaking the boundaries of his reality and spilling onto ours.

Unfortunately, he was foiled by gamefaqs.

So do you reckon Ocelot was the one that killed Miller in MGS1? Their post credits conversation implied it. Always thought it was Liquid.

MGS2: An Illuminati organization that controls the US and the world, led by 12 mysterious individuals. They have created an AI for the purpose of controlling the Internet and the AI considers The Patriots true form and power to actually be American ideals in the minds of the populace. It turns out that one of them aided Philanthropy, yet all 12 of them died over 100 years ago and have a connection to Manhattan.

MGS3: There was actually an organization called The Philosophers who were all just really rich and powerful old dudes in America, the Soviet Union, and China right after World War I who really wanted to kill bad guys with cool expensive guns so they set up a Gofundme for cool gun stuff. The organization all split up after WWII and their money got lost. Eventually they all died or got replaced by The Patriots in America during the Cold War.

MGS4: The Patriots were actually Big Boss and Big Boss's friends (including the woman who cloned the Snakes and experimented on Gray Fox and the Genome Soldiers, a young DARPA Chief, Solid and Liquid's mom, and Ocelot) who got all The Philosopher's moolah and replaced them. Big Boss's commanding officer is their leader. They exist because they were all really sad about The Boss. All the stuff about them dying 100 years before MGS2 was a ruse about the founders of The Philosophers which is a bit of fuzzy math since it's more like 70-80 years and that's if we're only talking founding members but okay. They all split up because of drama bombs and Ocelot was actually on Big Boss's side and the AIs (the one in MGS2 was actually only just one) have actually been running the world and communications for some undetermined amount of time.

PW/GZ/MGSV: Zero actually created an organization called Cipher because it was some hilarious wordplay about his name or something and they used an AI after Otacon's mom made an AI based on The Boss that was installed in the first ever Metal Gear. The AIs were named The Patriots after the DARPA Chief effectively took over because Zero was infected with throat bugs by a guy named Skull Face (his face looks like a skull).

He started playing video games and got obsessive over vibration and memory cards.

Unknown to him, vibration was actually his weakness and the DS3's vibration level delivers the final blow.

I'm the biggest boss tho. You big bosses are weaksauce.

Psh, I'm not Big Boss. I'm Solid Snake. And you can't say I'm not the real Solid Snake because I said I am and all that matters is what I said. Facts are illusions and all that.

Kept you waiting, huh?

oh yeah someone tell me what the deal was with the chest headphone jacks

It was actually in the throat, it was playing a tape of the English language in general I think so that the vocal cord parasite picks up on it. It sounds kind of stupid but I actually liked that aspect of the game and Codetalker makes it convincing if you listen to his tapes on the subject matter which are ALOT.

Codetalker was probably my favorite part of the game. He really sold the whole parasite angle.

But what about Chico's? I don't think that was the same thing. Could he just not be bothered to not drag the jack around, so he went "yeah, I'll stab it in my chest for safekeeping"?

Nah, those were incisions with headphones placed in. Chico had a headphone jack in him in GZ. Like an audio out socket. It was never explained or mentioned which is super weird as it was a weird thing that stood out and made you think it'd be explained in TPP.

That or they simply tortured him with it. Who the fuck knows, it looks cool(In an ugly way) and screams torture so why not.

kinda amazing how horrible everything got the more it was explained.

That's why I think GZ would have been better if it was in this game instead of it being separate because this leads me to believe Skullface was infecting Chico with the vocal cord parasite(early stages?) however if you listen to the first tapes we know that he died.

Codetalker was probably my favorite part of the game. He really sold the whole parasite angle.

I agree. He surprised me alot and I can see what Kojima was going for by making the character Navajo.

The Codetalker Perfect Burger tape was probably Metal Geariest the game felt as well. Perfect tongue in cheek nonsense but with a message and heart.

Exactly and fuck yes, I LOVED it. It's a shame that most people may not even listen to most tapes but they really go in depth on many things. I listened to all of them as soon as they unlocked, I find that if you kept on piling them up, you'll never feel like listening to them.

yes this were the Cassete Tapes I waited all game to unlock, the ones that don't provide anything but silly side information. Peace Walker was also full of them, so what gives.

Where is my Gray Fox dlc.

When all is said and done about MGSV, I still think Metal Gear Rising should have been about Eva and Raiden retrieving Big Boss' body.

So how do you control quiet? Can you control quiet? It seems like she stays in one place unless the gunfire gets loud and then she comes over to where I am. Saying her name doesn't seem to help.

Another amazingly stupid plot point.

Why does Mantis never even approach that level of power in 1?

Mantis is a warning of what happens when you play too many videogames. You lose your luscious hair and amazing powers, stop eating, start wearing bondage gear, and become an overall horrible and ugly human being. Kojima just trying to help with life lessons.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering too. Unless it was some sort of proto-experiment they were trying out with Chico, there's nothing in the narrative that refers to it, nor follows up on it again in TPP.

you can manually deploy her to a point through the buddy menu (same menu you order supply drops etc) and then choose Quiet (Attack)

I just took it as torture. Otherwise it doesn't make sense that Skullface just lets him plop it out to listen to tapes

I hope one day we find out what that MSX tape in Ground Zeroes is and how it is connected to The Phantom Pain.

More I think about the ending, the more I am satisfied with it. I can see how people are pissed (namely at what the fuck did he do that made him a demon and not even playing as Naked Snake in the first place) but the ending and the revelations that follow after it are fantastic IMO.

Still think the game is incomplete though.

But they did torture Chico. They forced him to rape Paz in front of Skullface. I don't understand what purpose doing some kind of bio-experiment where they put a headphone jack in his chest proves.

Add that to the list of unanswered questions.

Honestly, thinking about it more, is the Big Boss / Venom Snake of MG2 / MG1 that different from the Big Boss of Peace Walker / The Phantom Pain except the perspective the stories are told?

1) Held the world hostage with nuclear weapons - How is this different then what he does in Peace Walker. Part of the reason for what happens in Ground Zeroes is due to him having a Nuclear Weapon.

2) "Turning War Orphans into Child Soldiers" - This may be a perspective thing as from the outside you could perceive the same thing of them in The Phantom Pain. They could be just giving them a home like in TPP and they are volunteering as they age.

3) Wanting perpetual war - Is this not what the MSF was about in the first place? Freedom for soldiers, to be without borders, via conflict.

4) Kidnapping Scientists - The entire gameplay concept of MGS: PW and TPP is around kidnapping people to join your army.

We get Snake and Campbell's perspective of Big Boss during MG1 and MG2. Don't you think their perspective may be skewed and off the truth.

So in summary, Big Boss is a fallen hero who had noble goals but went down the wrong path into darkness.

That's what I'm saying? I'm saying it's not an experiment and they just did it as an additional fucked up thing to do to him.
