Mad Max would've told Skull Face to shut up during his big monologue. Big Boss would've told him how stupid he was while CQC'ing him and his guards all at once at the helipad then taking Metal Gear for his own Outer Heaven.

That whole part with Skullface was so stupid. There were countless moments and opportunities where Venom could've CQC'd the guards and taken Skullface hostage. But nope, just stands there quiet looking like an idiot for 10 minutes.

You should've picked up and listened to the music tapes (not the licensed music). It's great.

Ugh, you just reminded me of another thing I hated about this game... fucking killing Strangelove, and off screen too. I was so hoping to see her again, but instead she gets this despicable death, and from Huey?? What the fuck...

This game also started making me think though that this game really started to take shit too far with the coincidences about how closely related everyone is.

I mean, we got

The Boss > mother of Ocelot, and the person Strangelove wishes was her child shared genes with, so Strangelove in essence wanted Otacon to be The Boss's son too.

Then we got Big Boss, who is sorta like The Boss's son/lover too...

Otacon's father just happens to work for Big Boss at one time, and betrayed him...and he just happened to work on Metal Gear project also, even though there's never any indication from Otacon that his family had any connection to Metal Gears before...he wasn't following in his father's footsteps according to him, he wanted to make Metal Gear because he loved Japanese anime.

Plus yeah, we got all the stupid contrived dialogue where Ocelot and Miller talk about the future of the series as if they know what's going to happen...That's not really a smart wink and nod, it sounds like stupid pandering. Stop acting like the characters know the future when they shouldn't.

I just beat the game last night and I'm still in stunned disbelief that they actually went with another Snake/Big Boss character popping out of nowhere. It was literally the first thing everyone guessed when people started speculating.

I personally don't mind Venom Snake, but like Quiet, there's wasted potential with a character like him.

I mean EvilLore put it best that they could have done something in terms of his degrading psyche from the hypnotic treatments and add some trippy/creepy ass illusions from both his past and BBs. Basically, give me more of that ghost Paz stuff but eerier.

You forgot when Big Boss uses his elite soldier skills that have been nurtured for years to give his son a hug, then admit he fucked up and Solid Snake was way cooler than him, then die paying respects to a person he had forsaken years ago.

You may think I'm making fun of it but I'm not, it's the perfect ending and always gets the tears flowing.

You're probably right, but I don't think it was ever this bad before. It was usually more broad and clever, like references to how they'll keep making Godzilla movies, or James Bond movies...that's just an off comment that doesn't matter to the plot that I can forgive. When characters basically say "this is what happens in the other Metal Gear games, haha, get it?" fuck that nonsense. Geez.

Also, another thing about this game that I find so disappointing is...the one thing about MGS4 that I always had a hard time stomaching is how the Patriots were basically started by Major Zero...this unassuming commander, who seemed kinda badly voice acted in MGS3...I kept hoping that we'd see more of that conflict, and what Zero really was like, and how he became a more twisted bent for power character, because I feel like we've NEVER seen that, except from hearsay. Why this story was MGS5, I don't really understand.... Skull Face...XOF, none of it felt like a good payoff, or that any of it was necessary backstory.

Way I see it, people wanted a conclusion. And this kinda does track what happened to various members, and it explains MG1 and MG2 in a nice way. The themes fit with the other games, as BB said in MGS4, that people can be made to 'play' a role.

The only conclusion is the beginning of the series.

Zero goes to great lengths to clone Big Boss to have more soldiers of his caliber.
Para-medic goes to great lengths to create the Genome army with Big Boss's genes.
The entire plot of MGS4 is about a mad rush to recover Big Boss's body and with it his magical genes.

And all along Ocelot knew some secret dark magic where he's literally able to turn anyone in the world into Big Boss with a little hypnosis. Also, it's amazing this this guy has actually hypno'd himself twice in the franchise.

Ocelot hypno'd himself to believing he could hypno other people and everyone else just went along with it. Venom is actually Big Boss, but he pretends to be Venom. The entire series is just a ruse to keep Ocelot believing that he can hypno people.
