Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

There are hardcore and casual fans of both.

No. When it comes to sf2, it's like the people who have nostalgia for pokemon and only recognize the first 150. Being viciously in love with Sean isn't going to change what was the starting point for a lot of people.

Preferring sf2 isn't indicative of being hardcore. It's the opposite actually. While people in this thread are popping veins about the beauty of 3rd strike and how under-appreciated it is, they don't have enough investment in the franchise to care beyond the cast they were introduced with in sf2.

yeah I really hope it's not some lame shit like cody

don't get me wrong. cody is cool and all but TOO MANY BLONDES

I want a new character or a third striker at the very least.

There will be more blondes, hell the heavily rumored 3s characters are both blonde (tho Urien changes his hair color)

I'll be quoting this post after Urien is announced.

I would like to be proven wrong because I personally want Oro in the game, but it's looking slim.

3 slots reamining: 1 for Karen, and 2 for classic characters where one of them is probably Cody.

I was cracking up earlier thinking back to that time when people were debating whether Ken would be in or not. just remember guys, madness awaits us at every turn.

Probably Cody? I don't think so. This Is probably a new character.

I'm with Siliconera: Alex, Urien (2 of the most popular of the fan favorite classic 3rd Strike that weren't in USFIV) and Karin would be the remaining returning chars.

My bet is that the initial 16 will have these groups:
6 chars from USFIV from SSFII
2 chars from SFIII that weren't in USFIV
4 chars from SFA3 that weren't in USFIV
4 chars brand new chars

So this would mean 6 chars that were in USFIV + 10 chars that weren't in USFIV. More than the half of initial roster wouldn't have appeared in the SFIV series to keep it fresh. So Dhalsim, Zangief, Fei and a big amount of SFIV characters would be rehased for SFV but as DLC.

This still sounds like a good approach to me, with an emphasis on freshness instead of familiarity. Let's hope the people at Capcom agree.

I wouldn't mind if Cody was included personally, but just like with Vega, I do mind that his hair got changed from brown to blond between his original appearance and Alpha.

I'm ok with there being multiple blondes, don't get me wrong, but for guys like Cody and Vega I strongly prefer them to retain their original light brown hair color so that we don't end up with an overabundance of blondes, which to me is a point reached when we end up with so many blondes that having black hair suddenly becomes a visually unique trait in a cast made up of predominantly Asians. (And yes, Karin and Alex are blonds as well, but at least they always were blondes.)

Street Fighter 2 was popular. That doesn't mean all the characters IN Street Fighter 2 are popular.

I think this is the disconnect that some of you folks keep missing.

T. Hawk, for example, is not a popular character. He's arguably a fairly well KNOWN character who debuted in SSF2, but that does not automatically translate to being LIKED or POPULAR.

People who are still seriously playing ST to this day are pretty hardcore :P

Of course SFII characters in a broad sense will bring in more customers due to SFII's massive popularity during it's peak relative to what 3S had (and due to their presence in other properties and stuff like that too). 3S might skew hardcore, but there are still plenty of scrubby SFIII fans who think it's god's gift to fighting games but are just jerking off to moment 37 for hours on end.

I can't really tell what point you were trying to make with your post, sorry if my response is way off-base

Regarding Laura, I think she will look like Christie Monteiro if she ends being from South America / Brazil. They can even rehash her from Street Fighter X Tekken and to change her a bit.

Or if not, she can be like a female Blanka. Sharing somewhat similar character design and moveset but with a couple of important changes and being less freak.

I think he's referring to the world warriors, Ssf2 isn't really as mainstream/popular as SF2.

But regardless of that who cares about t hawk? He's not in the the roster anyway. And I don't think he will even come as DLC. The SF2 characters being picked fit SF5 are both popular AND well known.

Ono continue to tease us:

This the second pick where the tornado it looks EXACTLY like criminal upper. It's too easy to say Cody, but this is Ono we are talking about here.
