Just finished and don't know what to think, can't listen to the tapes given after atm.

Quick question, why did BB set this all up?

He wanted Venom to draw fire away from him while he worked on the real Outer Heaven (Zanzibar Land), which is nation for soldiers.

Fucking hate this twist.

What form does Cipher take at this point? I actually still haven't listened all of the "truth tapes". A.I.s and Sigint in charge? Do we know what A.I.s are functional? What is Zeros association with Cipher if he knows it's out of control and he's is kinda helping Big Boss? All these questions... :D
At this point, Cipher is just Zero's organisation, he is the head of Cipher but it has various branches within the U.S. Government including Foxhound, XOF, DARPA etc.
The branches all act of their own accord e.g. XOF saying Miller was under their jurisdiction while he was in Rhodesia, Zero knows he has "Zero" lol control over Cipher so he tried to protect BB by creating Venom as a diversion.

Yes, The Patriot AI is mentioned as being "Done".

the game has amazing gameplay but the story is mixed bag for me, it has cool stuff, does not explain how big boss turns evil :(
From my earlier post
This is my reasoning as well. BB's obsession with "muh boss" and his desire for a soldier's paradise at the end of Peace Walker started to overshadow any sort of heroic traits he had and basically turned into some Machiavellian puppet master like everyone else.

This probably explains going back for FOXHOUND as well - just a means to an end (e.g. resources, possible recruits)

Basically, at least IMO, Big Boss turned into his own demon through something worse than vengeance - his own perceived pretentious self-importance. Thus, resulting in a disregard for anyone else, especially if they get in his way.

In short, PW already made him an ass.

It was originally Zero's idea to protect BB. When BB woke up he went along with it. They were both just essentially just protecting BB's ass while forcing Venom to do all the dirty work of building BB's legend.

pretty much

the nine year coma is enough for him to go "fuck it, i'm out" and go create outer heaven as a military nation while being fine with one of his best men being placed in incredible danger, and entirely turning his back on miller.

in a way, this is probably one of the most evil actions taken by a character in mgsv. take the man who saved your life and turn him into a big fat target for everybody else, all while erasing his personality and getting him to die for you when outer heaven is finally compromised.

the legend became a man. the man became a demon. if it didn't require such lengths to interpret and didn't come outta nowhere, it'd be a pretty good plot point.

I'm at the point where I deliberately defy Miller's mission orders just to piss him off.

"Boss, we need to find the Viscount before you can extract the interpreter. Follow the interpreter around until you identify the Viscount."

I proceed to immediately tranq and extract the interpreter.

"Boss what the fuck! Now we'll have to interrogate the interpreter here."

I proceed to immediately find the Viscount, it's obvious who he was. I tranq and extract him.

"Oh Boss it turns out the Viscount was a real duplicitous piece of shit, good job."

Yeah, Kaz? No shit? You're the master of being manipulated by other people. From now on I do the opposite of whatever you tell me to do.

Man, I probably am the only person who saw it as a non sexual cheek kiss since they were technically brothers, before finding out Ocelot double crossed himself as well lol. It gave me the feels when it happened in my first playthrough out of the blue. I saw it as two bro's who love each other as family but both of them deep inside know that this epic fist fight for some strange reason has to happened. As a final nod to the series if you will.

"Ah man, this shit is so over the top dramatic and epic. On top of Liquid Ocelot's Outer Heaven, fist punching through the series in one final fist fight as brothers trying to settle one final score. Fuck, he gave his bro a kiss on the cheek too!"

Love me some MGS drama shit.

That only happens when Snake has beaten most of Liquid's personality out of Ocelot, so I don't think it's brotherly.

We see Mantis impersonating Eli in the Chopper and then Eli starts acting weird, being out of his room when he was supposed to be locked up, vanishing in to thin air on MB.

That is to show Mantis is "linking" with Eli. Mantis just has psychic powers, he isn't Decoy Octopus.

Eli sneaked onto the helicopter to escape, it was a good time to because multiple helicopters were mobilised for that mission. Mantis catches onto his hate being stronger than that of Volgin or Skull Face due to being a kid and having more emotions and then the whole weird cutscene plays out showing that they communicate in a way, then Metal Gear goes crazy, then Mantis sticks around with Eli but can hide and phase and teleport and all that.

Hmm, I never noticed that. I thought it happens when Liquid Ocelot choke holds you in a certain position and if you didn't do anything to fight back he'd kiss you on the cheek. It's weird because I'm sure many went through the fight never knowing that such a thing even existed.

If there is some big crazy thing tomorrow then I take back everything I've said. It's not going to happen but, you know.

Though if the thing hinges on a patch for the PC version when it's already in the console version (console versions are bigger iirc) then why haven't people just gone offline, set the date to 9/11 and booted up the game?

You weren't ashamed of your words and deeds enough.

What if I was ashamed of Kojima's words and deeds? Would that be enough?

Why exactly would something happen on 9/11?

Real answer: Because some dodgy website exists with fake hints not connected to Metal Gear or Konami that linked to some videos that the guy admitted were fakes (if a reddit post I read is correct) and the cut content, Mission 51, on the CE dvd ends with a shot of New York (a super American place) with Liquid yelling his catchphrase (not BROTHERRRRR!) "It's not over yet!" which was clearly meant to link to his future in MGS1 as a terrorist threatening America and not saying that bonus ending content DLC will be made free on 9/11.

This 9/11 stuff is going to end the same as people desperately thinking Hayter was actually in the game and not being serious on twitter.
