Were you paying attention? He jumps on her back, proceeded by her throwing him off. Legendary Mercenary, Big Boss, tossed about by some random henchwoman.

Watch it. He jumps on her back to stop her from shooting Phantom Ganon, then when he has her disoriented he tries to get a CQC grip going, but Quiet manages to get out of it and throw him across the room.

I like it. I'll add this to my growing list of "MGSV that totally happens and are explained (in my head)"

Yeah but it was ruined by THOSE SNIPING TANK FUCKERS

FUCK MISSION 45

Fuck that missions so hard. I spent over an hour getting randomly sniped from any cover before i gave up and equipped a CHICK HAT that makes me invisible. Ran up to every tank and fuckin fultoned the pricks out of my face until that crap was over. Not even regretting it.

But in a lot of scenes he uses less than the minimum amount of words needed to convey his emotions or outlook in that scene.

As a result a lot of the game has him staring off in the middle distance, which I guess is sort of explained by the brain damage.

I agree, he feels absent sometimes but I still think it was intentional. It definitely sticks out out and feels like something is missing and the game is also supposedly about things being missing, limbs, real big boss etc. It just seems like a Kojima thing to do whether it's good or not.

Did you not see the scene right after that? How he did not want to abandon his fallen soldiers to the lonely ocean and instead make diamonds out of them to commemorate them. And those diamonds weren't used for GMP, they were attached to the DD patch every soldier had so they will always be remembered. That to me seems above and beyond what most soldiers get when they die.

Yeah, I did. It doesn't change anything. They're still fighting for a war cult, and hey once they die in battle, they'll become decoration for the DD fatigues.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not ragging on the scene. It was a great mission, and it was one of the highlights of the game for me, but I'm still set on believing that ultimately they're fighting for a really bad guy. Not the worst guy, but still a bad one nonetheless.

the legendary big boss

Lori Alan had ONE SINGLE LINE in the game.

Nobody can tell me this was meant to be. There was just so much more to this game, i really should stop thinking about it...
You can visit her at the top of the R&D strut. There were subtitles on my screen and it took me fifteen minutes to figure out who the hell was speaking. Lol. If you shoot the pod she has plenty to say.

But why does he jump on Quiet's back like a child, rather than use The Basics Of CQC to neutralize her?

Flip flopping between playing possum. Quiets clearly a highly trained "main baddie", so he's in his "ooh i'm just some other dumb patient" role until he can get the drop on her with the chlorine/alcohol or whatever.

Once she's out the way, he's back to busting out crazy matrix dives.

So who's got the best theme songs?
Naked snake's snake eater/metal gear saga
Big boss's pw theme/Heaven's divide (love deterrence is more paz' theme)
Venom snake's Sins of the father/a phantom pain
Solid snake's metal gear theme/the best is yet to come
Raiden's can't say goodbye to yesterday/rules of nature
Old snake's love theme/metal gear saga

I'd say Venom takes this, but Metal gear saga is so damn good they've used it in nearly every game since mgs3.

Is there a difference between metal gear theme and metal gear saga?

Imo mgs4 has the best mix of music with old shake theme, love theme, metal gear saga and here's to you.

But man mgs truly has the best soundtracks of any series.

the legendary big boss

It was probably me controlling him. I cannot for the life of me ever counter The Boss during her fight and she ends up kicking my ass thoroughly. Luckily the victor writes history so everyone thinks Big Boss is a legendary CQC master instead of a clumsy fuck up like I initially played him.

I hid in the flowers and shot tranq darts into the boss's head like a coward.

Then I didn't make it over to her body in time to actually pick up the rewards for tranqing her.

Yes mg saga this is the song that plays when you fight the shagohod if I'm not mistaken and it's soooo damn goooood.

Mgs theme, pretty much the theme synonymous with metal gear, each of the games (cept TPP) has a version of it.

Quiet hardly seemed like a goon. The decision to revive her was also probably because she was a highly skilled soldier. If XOF was the phantom of FOX, it's not hard to think they'd have soldiers on par with Snake in their ranks.

I wish we found out her real name and history apart from being "the one XOF sent to assassinate Big Boss."

Yeah, I wish there had been more there. All you get is the game explaining how she turns into Quiet, not really who she was or why she was selected to kill big boss.

I think the decision to revive was was more about yet another thing about revenge and Skull Face thought that would motivate her for basically the suicide mission.

Uhh no, that's the MGS4 mix of it, just like how the metal gear theme has difference mixes for different games.

The theme from MGS3 is a version of the MGS 1 and 2 theme called "Main Theme" (seriously, look at the link you yourself posted). The theme from MGS4 is called "Metal Gear Saga", and is heavily modified due to the whole Russian composer bullshit.

It's a remix, yes, but as I said, "Metal Gear Saga" is the title of the theme in MGS4. It's not used for the previous versions.

It just makes it easier to point out which song, most people don't remember the "mgs3 main theme", because it only plays in the shagohod battle.
Hmm I guess it doesn't even play at shagohod, see I can't even remember when it plays.

Disappointed by the alert themes in this one. Portable Ops was probably the last game to have some really good tracks. The ones in 4 and PW were forgettable. Actually, the alert theme while extracting Paz in GZ was great.

Oh actually the mgs theme does play in mgs saga right? So it's basically just an addition to the theme?
Really love those tunes though, so many memories!
Why the hell isn't this in TPP or GZ?

The main MGS3 theme plays during the credits, I think.

I don't see your logic. There are so many example of Venom being a total saint through the entire game.

1. doesn't kill Quiet despite her attempt to murder him moments ago
2. doesn't kill Huey despite everything he has done
3. liberates child soldiers and gives them a new chance at life
4. Eli constantly acts out but doesn't give up on him
5. Builds an animal preservation camp to save animals from battlefields
6. rescues numerous POW and clears out minefields

Can you give an example of Venom doing something truly wrong/evil other than running a "war cult"(in other words a "Private Military Force" which isn't inherently evil)? All I can think of is shooting the daylight out of Skull Face and not finishing him off.

Ground Zeroes also had a prettty good ambient soundtrack overall, wonder what happened in TPP.

"Minimalism" probably. AKA bland as fuck for the most part. I miss the bombastic and memorable MGS soundtracks. Apart from that one synth track, Sins of the Father and a few other cassette tracks, I really have no recollection of any of the music from TPP.

If he dies out at sea, then yeah. if he washes up somewhere and lives out a peaceful existence, then nah.

His second wife (assuming he even got formally married to strangelove) seduces his son and then Huey finds out that she's been cheating on him with Otacon so he commits suicide by drowning.

I think he deserved that.
