best part (she even sounds badass in game)

She's who I use on mission as well. The real waifu of MGSV <3

I just realized that the only real closure this game has is optional (Mission 45) since you can kill Quiet.

Geez

Such dark marketing imagery of BB falling from grace....

Turns out he's a pretty decent dude throughout the entire game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can't believe I have to spend GMP to put quiet in her XOF outfit

Yeah, yeah, it costs next to nothing, but being charged to rectify the flaming garbage that is quiets outfit is painful on the deepest level

Yo none of these characters are good guys.

Even if Big Boss or Venom are still doing some heroic things he's still building nukes and forcibly capturing soldiers and brainwashing them to join their cult, while dreaming of a world where they do this sort of work forever because what a thrill they get from it.

Because a gameplay mechanic of Big Boss sitting down with soldiers & talking to them is so interesting.

Wouldn't THE BOSS be the biggest villain in the series?

I mean, her ideology combined with her death is what sets off all the bullshit in the series/major story threads that go throughout the entire series.

Not really, she died protecting the world from WW3 pretty much.

81 hours, 100% side and main missions done. Reallllly glad I didn't read in-depth reviews and didn't have podcasts, thread titles and social media spoil that Chapter 2 is a thing. I watched all the trailers and read a lot of theory, but the game being so huge as the initial credits rolled I was like "well the game is big, I must've missed this or that cutscene" and then WHAM Chapter 2! That really blew me away but I guess it's not a surprise to anyone now. Quiet as a whole was gross, but her ending was the most powerful thing in the game to me. Liquid being Liquid was really cool, Ocelot being the most well meaning was cool and kid Mantis was creepy. I like how Miller ends up pissed with the real Big Boss, I wouldn't mind next a Metal Gear 1 remake with a PO-ed Miller training a young Solid.

I'm sorry but i'm not buying it. The truth chapter is a LIE (like in the 1984 book, the ministry of truth covering up lies). Ishamel is not big boss, his eyes were normal and he had no beard, yet minutes after the crash he suddenly grows one (nanomachines ?). Also, when ocelot meets with "the real big boss", its dawn, yet when he goes with venom to that boat, its still night time? There has to be some content that had been cut, not only chap 51, that further explains this.

I think part of the reason I'm so satisfied with the ending is because I was convinced the general open ended nature of chapter 1 was the best I was going to get.

Then the trailer played for the inverted castle section of the game and I'm grateful to not have that surprise taken from me by something as simple as knowing how many missions there are in the game.

Yeah that's what he's saying, in reality they just talk it out and get them to join willingly.

For video game purposes it has to happen swiftly and to everyone you capture so it looks like he's just brainwashing everyone.

Oh, he's wrong then.

Of course you clearly get a lot of volunteers and a lot of prisoners rescued but there's also a large amount of people who go to "The Brig" and are "persuaded" by Ocelot to join you. The implication is clearly there and it's useless to talk about what happens "in reality" when there is no indication of that.

so...what? Konami's probably washed their hands off the whole game, and Kojima is stuck locked up in a janitor room. Even if it isn't the truth, it doesn't really changed anything about this ending-less game.

I was bummed Liquid and co taking off with Sehelanthopus (or whatever) was the end of that. Was hoping the remixed version of that fight (the final mission) would've had Liquid in it and more story. So I guess in the lore now at some point kid Liquid and Mantis are out there somewhere with a more powerful than Rex MG doing....what?

Watch episode 51 on YT.

You mean like while venom was still lying unconscious in that crashed car the day passed and its night time again only a day after?

Order of events:

Boss gets out of car and talks to ocelot
Horse chase happens with Ocelot and Venom
Ocelot says goodbye to boss and boss rides away

Was talking about this the other day but nobody responded, notice how the lighthouse bridge is already broken as well? Even more evidence to suggest that the scene was a lie.
there is more than one night time
It was March 11th 2:50 when the crash happened, Ocelot gave BB the bike on March 11th 5:59 yet got back to the crash site on March 11th 3:32. Time traveler? AND the lighthouse bridge was already broken.

You know, as impressive as Kojima's meta-commentary is, and as good as his attention to detail has remained, I'm going to voice something that's been lingering for a long time, and I say this as a huge fan of MGS2, particularly of its meta angle.

Is it so hard to make a REAL sequel to Metal Gear Solid, the kind the tanker mission promised us? Airtight boss design, both from an aesthetic and gameplay standpoint? Amazing atmosphere and gritty near-future story with just the right amount of B-movie camp? Memorable characters that are characters and not social or industry commentary? A game starring Solid Snake in his prime? A game with a realistic military theme that's peppered with goofy-but-badass anime themes (Gray Fox, Psycho Mantis)?

Every game after seems to be either trying to do "something never done before" (Raiden twist, S3 plan, surprise prequel after a cliffhanger, giant chapter based mission structure, open world, Venom switcheroo, etc.) or riding on the original game's coattails in some way storywise (another cyborg ninja, hey it's about nukes again, here's that guy you remember doing something really similar again) with it feeling like a flat-out repeat reference instead of being an organic sequel. I realize these are two sort of opposite complaints but they're both valid.

The closest we got to this was MGS3, but it removed the backstory behind the bosses, which left the Cobra unit feeling much more flat than FOXHOUND, which to date is still one of the best group of antagonists in any game. Also, it was set in the 60's, which was a nice change of pace BUT WHERE IS OUR NEAR FUTURE MGS1 SEQUEL.

This is just a rant, I realize it was dumb to hope for this to ever happen, I love MGS1, 2, 3, 4, and even though I'm conflicted about V I love it, too.
Peace Walker? What's that?
But still. The tanker was probably the best segment in ANY MGS game, and it's only a taste of what will never happen.

Order of events:

Boss gets out of car and talks to ocelot
Horse chase happens with Ocelot and Venom
Ocelot says goodbye to boss and boss rides away
Couldn't have been since Ocelot and Venom boarded the Whaling ship at around 4am.
Plus that's not the order of events as they're shown. The scene shows us Venom waking up at 5:59am but when Ocelot gets back to the ambulance it's 3:32am.
