The Venom Snake thingo would be more interest if it wasn't telegraphed blatantly to the audience going all the way back to the original reveal, culminating with the goddamn opening, which consists of facemaker.exe, mysterious Keifer bandage man, and a song about a doppleganger playing in the background. There was no subtltity. It was so obvious you're not actually Big Boss that a part of me was hoping you were and it was a deliberate double ruse.

And I think this is a theme the game really faltered with. You have this fairly surreal opening sequence with fire whales and flaming Volgan and Psycho Mantis and a delirious maybe-it-is-maybe-it-isn't Snake, mysterious bandage man, etc. And then stuff in the trailers like that shot where Venom is talking to Skull Face and also has an apparition of him on Mother Base that got everyone talking.

I don't know about you guys, but the impression I got from early media was that the line between fact/fiction was going to be blurrier and the game would play heavily on themes of surreal and hallucinations. Like an odd, unsettling vibe to the whole thing.

What we got was something oddly straight down the road. Everything was explained outright and kinda boring and dull. And Venom isn't actually Big Boss like you expected, so clap clap. The end.

Everything just felt so very obvious from the start. The Venom Snake reveal was very obvious really: The medic being not revealed in GZ for some reason, the line "What about him" in the trailer, Ishmael saying "You're talking to yourself", No one calling you Ahab after the prologue, Creating a character while being told "this is what you look like now" but it turns out that's not the case and everyone treats you like you look the same as before etc.The Man on Fire was very obviously Volgin from the first moment you see him, it was obvious that was Pyscho mantis, the first mention of someone else on the base having the parasite straight away was clear it was going to be Quiet, it was easy to tell Eli was Liquid etc. There was just no mystery to any of it really, everything happened as expected and because of that then it felt like nothing interesting actually happened.

Whether you're online or not doesn't matter. If you have an FOB at all, even if you're not around, it can be invaded.

Is there a device that can change weather / create sandstorms etc?

I think I saw something about that somewhere. If yes, how do I develop it?

As much as I'd love for there to be secret unannounced DLC to be released I can't help but think it's just an elaborate troll. I just can't see them releasing Chapter 2 unfinished and then just over a week later putting out DLC. If it was that close to being finished they wouldn't have shown mission 51 on the collectors edition and they probably would have delayed the game a week.

Maybe it's a ruse. Fuck why am I tricking myself into thinking this may be something?

My favorite hint from the opening is that it's not the Bowie version of "man who sold the world." It's a cover version.

That's pretty meta, never thought about it that way. Awesome. The whole beginning is just so fucking amazing, really - the song playing, the sense of confusion and dream-like reality you feel when waking up, the revelations about what has happened to your body. It was really tight and promising.

Why they're comparing the size of the game in different platforms?

WHYYYYYYY

why does the game have 6 exta gigs of content for ps4 when the sizes of Ground Zeroes were about the same

I don't want to believe and then get let down when nothing happens

If they included the extra content in the PC version it would have been discovered and mined by now.

But they can have different sizes in different platforms even though they have the exact same content, or can't they?

Hey, as someone who has not been able to play this game yet (already purchased it, but playing the previous MGS entries first), this whole ARG thing is entertaining to follow along and to see what theories people come up with. I see why people get invested in these games.
