Do most of the reviews seem to indicate that they finished the game? Or are these 9's and 10's based on chapter 1? IMO 33 hours IS too soon to judge the quality of the complete package.

I don't think it is at all. If you have played the game for 33 hours and think it plays like the best stealth game ever, a dumb ending isn't going to bother people that much unless they take the metal gear story really seriously.

It's impossible. Do you feel the phantom pain? I just feel like shit...

100+ hours in this game, and Kojima just twists the knife at the end. I should have drove his ass into a river during the rescue side-op. Playing with my in game investments is like playing with my emotions.

Reviewers from the Konami "boot camp" said they had about 30-40 hours of time with the game. Some beat Chapter 1, some didn't even get that far. Some were using Chicken Hats.

Truly, any reviewer that attends these controlled events just so they have their article up in time to compete for clicks is a damn hack and doing a disservice in providing a legitimate review of the experience consumers will get.

Most regular people will not be bundled into a fancy hotel and forced to finish the game as fast as possible in a controlled environment with Konami PR looming over their shoulder when playing this game.

Well. The Medic was probably plenty younger than Big Boss, he's probably in *his* 50s when MG1 takes place

In the tapes they mention the Medic is getting up there in age. Ocelot - "He's in his Dog Days now, trust me boss this is what he would have wanted"

What the hell is going on. 9/11. New announcements. Countdown. Insane connections. MGSV is not MGS5. Twists. Planted clues. Utter insanity. I love it damnit. And so do all of you.

It is Kojima, not EviLore, who owns NeoGaf...

Andd finished

Well, I called that twist like many others. Kinda saddened by that :/

Now to look up 51.

Whats the view on the new thing in a few hours?

One thing I'm curious about, if Venom is still publicly known as Big Boss, wouldn't Solid Snake be a bit suspicious about how the dude who's training him at Foxhound has the same codename as that warlord with the giant horn and terrible ponytail?

Even if the gameplay is awesome, the repetitive nature of the missions could lower a person's opinion when stretched to 70+ hours though? I'm not saying everyone thinks it is repetitive, but basically none of the reviewers must have based on review scores? Just chatting here, as I only glanced at a couple reviews after I was done...avoiding dem spoilers.

This is why the internet came into existence. So an auteur from the other side of the world can play with our souls, and our minds.

BUT WHICH

Also I openly feel terrible for spoiling a half dozen people on the big twist over the past year and a half :x

That isn't how spoilers work, lol.

It's an last hour 'spoiler'. So unless they knew for certain that the spoiler was the case they'll have had pretty much the exact same experience they would have had if they had no idea.

You don't get to hour 50, have it revealed then think "Oh, well the game was spoiled for me". It you weren't absolutely sure up until that point you weren't spoiled.

Uh, I factually explained how it's the most likely scenario, from the similar voice to how it explains the double in MG1 perfectly and how all theyd have to recton is how Big Boss looked in MG1 vs "Big boss looks nothing like this in MGS4".

It was accepted by a lot of people who heard the voices/knew the medic was sutherland in GZ, well beyond the "I have a longshot theory"

Eh, I would say because of MGSVs emergent gameplay its hard for it to get repetitive. Its just so much damn fun.

Web developer here.
Poked around in the javascript on the site. Using the console to set the countdown clock to it's expiration date simply deleted the clock from the page. Unfortunately, whatever is going to happen when the timer's up is going to a) require someone to manually update the site or b) trigger changes on a cron job (this would mean the files for after the countdown is finished are on the server already).
It's most likely scenario A, but just in case i'm running the screaming frog spider on the domain to see if there's any other files to be dug up.

Semi-interesting Reddit post.

Code Talker's tapes about the parasites are some of the most boring, useless and unnecessary things in the entire franchise.

I'll gladly take bullshit nanomachines over these overexplained parasites that only ended up being used in one game.

I heard the theories too, but I wasn't sure pre-release.

It's easy to see a twist and say "I knew it" after, but unless you knew, 100%, that is was the case before you got there it isn't a spoiler. You'll still have the moment of the 'reveal', only then it'll be shortly followed by "I knew it".

Basically, you can't be 'spoiled' by something you think will happen. You're spoiled when you know something to be the case beforehand.

It makes sense when you think the medic got his faced burned off in the helicopter crash, that's probably what he looked like when he was recovered, shrapnel and all.

Untill...it's revealed he had his normal undamaged face in the hospital and it was changed via plastic surgery...

This is all one big hoax, where the hoax creator got pretty lucky with some coincidences. There isn't going to be some patch with an extra chapter of the game, patching in the missing camp omega content.

Not happening. Kojima fucked up, took too long, Konami sacked his ass so the team had to force cuts to get it out in time. I refuse to believe, Kojima made me a cynic.

I'm missing 2 blueprints the Macht and something else I know where the macht is but no clue what the other one is its not listed in any mission, Can anyone help me its listed under the KABARGA 83

Here's another gripe I have with MGSV.

If you know that the protagonist isn't precious Big Boss, why don't you put him through some real punishment?

They could have gotten away with a "Holy shit" moment if they burned Faux Boss' face off, for instance.

Son, this is an MGS thread, there ain't no place for logic here.

Why wouldn't Big Boss sneak a gun or armor into the hospital if he knew shit was going down and he was there to protect Venom? Tons of luck went into the hospital escape.

hold me, dan

Bla, what is your own personal opinion on this?!

I only finished the game (well the story, the whole story, just got some tapes to listen to now) late last night, less than 24 hours ago.

So reading all this stuff is just blowing mah mind.

I prefer BIG FAUX myself

Just skip to the hamburgers tapes.

Because he was an illusion and Kojima changed it mid-development to suit a dumb twist. That's my personal canon.

Why doesn't he have any facial hair? Why does he wear hospital scrubs instead of dressing like a soldier and covering his face? Why isn't an escape planned beyond "I guess I'll steal an ambulance".

It's like they've been caught with their pants down but they've been planning for the better part of 9 years.

I thought the twist was pretty cool, but it could've been done a lot better. The avatar creation was meaningless... Even though you can't get a good look at the medic's face in GZ, you see he's a clean shaven caucasian dude. So with the avatar creation, the only way to pull off the twist is to outright lie to the player in the first chapter. This could've been fixed by removing the avatar creation or better yet, simply having the medic's face be covered in GZ.

I find Code Talker unbearable to listen to.
