To be fair the PSX reveal will be at a Street Fighter tournament and Urien is popular in the FGC.
But at the same time, it would make more sense to announce Urien, someone from Europe, at the Paris Game Show (more so given Sony's planned presence at the event).

I dunno. Urien isn't designed to appeal to Greeks the way Rashid was designed for the Middle East. New characters are great reveals for a broader audience compared to a dude in a thong. If you want to trigger nostalgia for Urien, it's gonna be at an FGC event, not among casual players.

I don't think Ken Bogard ever said the fourth character would be the boss, that was an extra rumor added on by someone else. But it really makes sense for Necalli to be the boss when you consider he's obviously an ancient evil, he has ties to the Illuminati, and he has an easy to do first and second form (like super Shinnock or harder to fight Seth).

I wonder if Siliconera saw the comic books and assumed that Urien would be in because of that. I'm sure he'll be early DLC if nothing else.

I guess we can infer that Laura won't look anything like Blanka or Oro right?

The Siliconera leak happened well before the comic book's release.

Yeah, but what if they saw it before it released? It would explain how they could be mistaken into thinking he and Alex are playable in the select screen theory holds true. Like they're friends with one of the inkers or something. I mean obviously someone knows somebody either way if they have any leak at all. The Siliconera leak happened well before the game's release as well :p

My point is that I don't think Siliconera's info came from anyone involved from the comic.

Because it hasn't released yet? That makes no sense. It's looking unlikely that Urien will be on the starting roster, but Silliconera is convinced he will be. It's easily possible that someone saw work on the very first issue of the comic which features Urien and assumed he'd be in. The comic probably also has less security or whatever around it.

Wherever that info came from, it was from something that wasn't released yet lol

Well whether you think it's a knock against it or for it, we can all agree that it's too coincidental right?
That Urien was in the comic? Oh definitely, I'm sure he'll be in the game sooner or later. I'm just wondering how Alex and Urien were assumed to be in if they're not. Having a separate section just for Alpha characters is weird.

I don't think the Siliconera rumor said that the characters would be in the game at launch -- just that they would be in the game at some point. I could see a scenario where you have characters like Alex, Urien and Gill in the game's story mode but are initially unplayable, but are then released as DLC (much like what it looks like MKX is doing with the second season of DLC).

If Urien gets in, you guys think he'll keep his charge moves or would he get Vega'd?

Depends on if they change his moveset like they did with Bison.
I for one don't mind retaining his charge moves, but I don't care if they ease it up with motions. I just hope he's fun to play and some elements from his 3S version carry over to SFV.

Well we can count his aegis shenanigans out that's for sure.
Rashid's EX tornado looks like a poor man's Aegis Reflector to me. It just kind of sits around as a wall of damage that can stop (but I guess not reflect) fireballs while Rashid himself moves around, going for cross-ups.

Though it dissipates faster than the Aegis Reflector on top of not reflecting projectiles.

Yeah, it's different for sure, but it still looks usable for cross-ups and high/low shenanigans. One of the most powerful aspects of Aegis is that you can still buffer charges with regular timing during the superflash, which slows down time for everything else (which is how Tokido and RX would achieve their ridiculous juggles). I'm sure the tornado thing doesn't have that property, either.

Ono Leak.
Never before seen footage of Laura.

Alex and Urien aren't what I'd call "classic characters". I'm sure they'll be DLC but I don't see them hitting at launch.
A recent interview backpedalled a bit on the term "classic". I think I posted it a few pages back. That being said, the idea is somewhat the same, it's just that they avoided the use of the word "classic".

Yeah that interview convinced me even more that Alex/Urien aren't making it in at launch. Replacing the word "classic" with "most known" definitely excludes them.

I mean well known must mean Q is in according to that popularity list.

I think people are taking those words too literal
