By that time he secured the Rail Gun. He was just going to blow up the satellite and that would have been that.

It was merely a convenience for Ocelot that Snake uploaded a virus which destroyed the Patriots. So stopping Snake was not that important afterall.

While true, he did nothing to stop Snake from infiltrating and uploading the virus. He could have easily killed Snake at the end of the microwave. Instead he took him to the roof.

....what. How could that list have 46 on it? Not to mention the other ones. Also, some of the episode names that aren't in the game still fit thematically, like War is Peace. Only possibility I can think of is that it's a real list from very early in development, but how could something like that end up on the internet :P

It was just so poorly executed.

Back when we learned about MGS3, who would have thought that the legendary big boss actually learned everything he knew from a badass female WW2 vet?

That revelation was literally out of the blue and one that nobody could have seen coming - the repercussions of him having to kill her is perhaps the key moment in the entire franchise.

Considering we never knew about that story beat prior to MGS3 and it's so important shows that there's no reason there couldn't have been an equally incredible moment we didn't know about that caused him to become the shitheel Big Boss we all know about.

I mean, hell I could try to come up with something right now - pretend venom is the real big boss for a moment, have it so he was forced to kill quiet to prevent the English strain from wiping out most people on earth. Imagine that at the end of the game the big reveal is that every single person on motherbase. this army you built and have become attached to, your brothers in arms - they have been infected with a sleeper english strain parasite and BB must choose to either kill them all to save the world, or continue on despite knowing they're they are all deadly bioweapons just waiting to be used by zero/skullface to cause a holocaust, and this is to get BB to finally rejoin the patriots.

BB chooses not to kill them and instead fight back against Zero and all the worlds governments he has under his thumb and create outer heaven. This leads to MG1 where the secret reason solid snake must take down that entire facility was to actually make sure the parasite never got out, as BB called zero's bluff.

I mean shit, it even parallels his son's choice at the end of MGS4 to kill himself to stop Foxdie from causing a holocaust, but unlike his shitty dad solid is the ultimate good guy who sacrificed himself (till BB showed up an...you know the rest)

To be fair, it's pretty obvious that something happens to Mantis, since in MGSV he actually has hair, in MGS1, his face is all fucked up (no nose, no lips) and he has some sort of Frankenstein's Monster thing going on with his head, like somebody has messed around with his head (you can see the marks on his head like he's had brain surgery). Plus he joins the KGB at some point as an agent for them which is where he probably meets Ocelot. He was one of a few different psychic soldiers working for the Russians, so there's actually more than him around too in the MG universe (stated by Naomi in MGS1).

Nothing about the twist was novel, thematically meaningful, or well executed. There's no basis to call it good.
 
Why does Psycho Mantis fight Solid Snake at all? Or any of Foxhound? They wanted Snake to reach Rex in order to activate it, so I'm confused why they put up roadblocks in the form of fights to the death

Haha, look at this goofy but lovable guy. Even better is he's smiling because he's about to drop a beehive on an enemy soldier.

It is kind of powerful when you go back and play MGS3 and notice how much more alive Boss is in that game than the other games he appears in, where he's in serious mode all the time. Probably the happiest Snake out of all the games.

This is so accurate is scary. If it were only a few naI would say somebody guessed well from the themes that were presented, but this is too much. But given that the structure is completely different it's likely that this is some plan from earlier development that got scratched. Heavens knows how it got out.

How fucking depressing would it be if it turned out the final metal gear had half of it's content cut due to Konami getting tired of Kojima, his expensive dev cycle and the video game business in general.

We could be living in the worst timeline, and we don't even know it, just a phantom pain that something, somehow is... missing.

I can buy bb venom fraud, i can buy angry maxi buns kazuhira fiddler, i can even buy such lust for english hate skullface.

What i cant buy is fucking rootin tootin john sheriff ocelot. Like wtf, he went from cocky russian soldier to mr super sensible mature wild west dude and then back to crazy russian snidely whiplash.

It's the real difference. Snake Eater had so much charm to its characters. Just about the only metal gear interested in character arcs.

Ocelot is never under any pressure in this game, nor involved in any conflict, so it makes sense he'd be pretty chill. All he does is hang out at Mother Base and play with dogs.
