False. I don't care if someone hates it... as long as they understand it. We literally just had people saying they didn't get the parasite stuff and it was worthless. So, if you didn't get the stuff, you missed out and shouldn't judge.

Now, if this was phrased as "I understand the parasite stuff was a precursor to nanomachines, but that whole thing was unnecessary," I wouldn't have made my initial post on the topic, explaining how the parasites tied in.

You're completely missing the point here in terms of the issues most people have with the game.

Kojima's explanations have always been bullshit, from the first game till now. However, the presentation of that bullshit has always been so magnificent and endearing that you can't help but love it.

MGSV on the other hand has all the same bullshit, but relegates the explanations to flat and boring 3 minute optional tapes.

Take for example the revelation that fortune wasn't magical in MGS2; the sheer glee ocelot has in telling her she wasn't 'lady luck' followed by proving it by shooting her in the heart. Her reaction when she realises she could have died at any time she wanted, and that her melodrama all fell right into the patriot plans of recreating the lunacy of MGS1 villains to aid their simulation.

It's a brilliant moment that i still remember vividly today, now contrast that with Code Talker's babbling on the tapes about how he stole The End's corpse and that's how the skulls have magical powers....

In MGS2 it's a magical magnet maguffin box, In MGSV it's parasites, in MGS4 it's Nano Machines.

All equally stupid deus ex machinas, HOWEVER there's a reason people were willing to accept the nonsense in the previous games, but not this time.

This goes for a lot of the 'reveals' - they're not presented in a interesting or cool way that ties in with the integral themes of the franchise that causes you to rethink your perspective on the entire franchise.

MGSV could have not existed and it would have zero bearing on metal gear in general, and that's a damn shame.

I haven't seen the movie but it seems like Phantom Pain draws significant inspiration from Rambo 3.

Riding on horseback in Afghanistan destroying Soviet tanks and helicopters with a missile launcher?

I mean there's an entire mission where that's all you do.

Oh man, this is probably one of my favourite cutscenes of the franchise. Ocelot being a cunning piece of shit and showing his hand to everyone (with Patric Zimmerman gloriously hamming it up). It's cheesy as fuck, but awesome just the same. Not to mention it being followed by Liquid taking over and addressing his BROTHERRRRSSS.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but did Ocelot not have a southern accent until chapter 2? I need to play earlier missions and cassette tapes again but I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on this.

We're still just arguing over terminology. I'm not saying the story was even necessary, I simply said it made sense and was pretty enjoyable.

I have no issue with anyone thinking it doesn't matter.

However, may I ask this: Shouldn't everyone have expected a story like this? Outside of a twist, there was NOTHING that could be done that would greatly change the canon. It's a game in the middle of the timeline... I don't understand what people wanted to happen.

It showed how Big Boss became a douche and how he survived being killed by Solid in MG1. I don't know what else you could do here as Kojima.

I can see someone responding to my post saying "We needed to see the event that turned him evil." But I don't think there's any one event that would affect his drive to establish OH and ZL more than the parasite infection. After that, he's more determined than ever to wall off and protect his men.

Anyone got videos of the Quiet / Skullface scenes when the player actually pulls the trigger? Can't find one for either.

I pulled it since literally nothing was happening and it seemed no different from anything I saw in other videos. Maybe he shot him a couple of times before doing the limb shootoff thing?

I've seen the Skull Face one. Snake fires (at least the sound a muzzle flash happens) and you see him as he was when he was in the hospital, then it flashes back to how he looks currently. I think you then have to wait to see the scene as it happens with Miller and the limb shooting.

His accent is super inconsistent, I don't think it correlates with chapter.

Because Rex wins so it's contrived horse shit.

I could understand REX defeating an AI controlled mass produced RAY.

But Oceliquid had experience piloting it and it looked like the prototype model so there is really no reason for RAY to have lost.

The fight itself is good except Otacon talking during it.

Xbox One.

Be sure to uninstall and reinstall the game, it should work even with the error code it gives you.

The fact that you control Rex alone is awesome enough and in Shadow Moses of all places head to head with Liquid Ocelot piloting the Ray, man just typing that makes me want to go through it again if only to see Ray's badass dive entrance. It also plays well within the character of SS, much like he had the inferior genes and still won against liquid, he had the inferior machine yet still kicked ass showing that it's all about the technique not what's at hand.

What would happen if you purchased FOBs with the MB coins and then entirely reset your save? Do you lose them?

I plan on redoing the game for 100%, I assume I need to do some shit properly as I've lost Quiet? (Didn't get mission 45)

I don't understand what people wanted to happen.

Rewatch the E3 2013 trailer and you'll see what people wanted. A simple revenge story showing how low BB would go to get revenge on SF/Cipher which would ultimately turn him into the evil asshole who wanted to take over the world using nukes.

Psycho Mantis as depicted here makes his defeat at the hands of Solid Snake impressive. Maybe Psycho Mantis got weaker in time. 1984 he flies several tons of Metal Gear out to sea. 2005 he floats up to three chairs.

But who trains Solid Snake in Metal Gear 1 again? Obi-wan Miller agrees to watch over him on Tatooine and he's with Venom. Where does it leave Gray Fox? Gray Fox stands against Big Boss in MG1 only to join Big Boss in MG2. Introducing protoRaiden Gray Fox from Portable Ops muddles it further. Add in Madnar and a host of other characters.

So I replayed A Quiet Exit again 15 minutes ago and it becomes hilariously easy when you know what to do even with the unbalanced tanks.

then you are already a demon

As it should.

Rex beating Ray is just to parallel Solid beating Liquid.

Liquid is the superior clone and by all rights should have won but he didn't, Ray is meant to be the superior mech and Rex is old and busted(like Old Snake) but that's doesn't mean when it comes down to it that Ray will always win. There's more to everything than just genes/pure mechanics.
