.I was going to continue and say how despite that I interpreted the woman's comment about how certain stereotypes applied to France as well struck me as true. American's may be poor at geography, but really, most people don't care about location outside of their country/continent. Sometimes state/province/region.
To answer your question, yes because Philadelphia is clearly the most prominent city in the nation.

People give American's a lot of shit for World Geography, but man, you tend to forget a lot of the shit you "learned" in school, and I don't think too many of us are constantly re-educating ourselves in that manner. I try, but that stuff doesn't stick like it used to.

There's a huge difference between not being able to locate Philadelphia on a map and not being able to locate say Thailand, Hungary, Finland, Argentina, etc.
Most world citizens are educated at a baseline of world geography. But yeah, I could locate Philadelphia and Adelaide.
