People around the world are asked what they think of America (video)

We got some credibility back with Obama's elections and how he has done. Of course I assume a lot of people thought/are thinking, "Wow, it only took you two terms of Bush to figure it out", and they're right, but like Churchill said...

Hopefully this is the start of an America that stays the fuck out of the Middle East, reduces its military presence around the world, acknowledges its role in causing a lot of this shit, and elects people who expand diplomatic policies.

Also maybe eats less and exercises more.

Oh dear, some really humourless people in here.

I am Canadian (cause I drink molson, but really I drink Budweiser) and when I think of America I think of fuck yea!

Lots of insecure folks in this thread.

Problem with your ideas is you cant just pull back from being the world police after you take on the mantle and everyone else basically expects it of you. Just pulling back is what is getting the world into the situation it is in.

The US does need to step back in areas but it needs to do so in a smart way that shares the burden with others. Deliberate weakness breeds problems like Russia thinking it can now threaten Europe.

Well, what i can say is...

Im from brasil and i dont know a single person that believes the official explanation for 9/11

No matter where you are, who you talk to, everybody will say "yeah theres like a billion holes in the story"

(..while i learned recently in the us people that doubt the official story are mocked and called "truthers" or something)

Just look at the outrage in the Japan military threads lately.

The German one really is spot on from what I've heard over the years. This fat, dumb and patriotic American prejudice is rather interesting since Germany isn't the healthiest country in the world either but you know, patriotism isn't really en vogue (you know what I mean) and we're strong economically so I feel like many people see Germany "above" the USA.

Tread lightly friend...

(Yeah we mock idiots in our country)

One day when things are really bad, I hope you wake up to the global community. I mean your best presidential candidate uses the Scandinavian social democratic countries as inspiration on what to change. You should all be like Bernie Sanders. Instead a lot of Americans are like Trump.
You've been drinking haven't you? Me to, cheers!

Here it depends on who you ask really. One thing that's stands out as being universal is the idea of muricans being obnoxious.

I don't mind if Americans don't know where exactly Slovakia is located in Europe, I don't know where Philadelphia is located either. So what. But Americans should know that Luxembourg exists and don't dismiss the smaller European countries or their languages because of their size. That's disrespectful. But again, I'm pretty sure that most Americans know that Hungary is a country.

It kind of surprised me, I was treated really nice in Germany and didn't get that impression. In comparison I was given somewhat of a cold shoulder in Charles De Gaulle airport, but I mean how many airports are super friendly.

Is there the same kind of video for the French? Let me drop some truth here.

What Germans think about the French: Arrogant, love their own language too much, love to live in the past, should be more like Germany when it comes to their economy, (we'd be lost without them they're our biggest friend, love ya France)

What Greeks think about the French: They're like the elves in Lord of The Rings, the language, the wine, the food, everything is sophisticated and graceful

The other side of the story is that some Germans looooooove America. Older ones because you helped us out in the past after the war, younger people really want to go to the US for an exchange year. The dumb, fat prejudice is just that, a prejudice.

The geography one is interesting. I know major countries for the most part at least I think I do. Maybe Europeans are mad because we don't know their geography. I mean could most Europeans name all the countries in South America or Asia?

We'll just take the following back if you're not feeling us:

Rock
Rap
Blues
R&B
Techno
House
Electricity
Computers
Videogames
Cars
Planes
Internet
Neogaf
Windows
OS X
Every website ever
Every movie ever
Marvel comics
DC comics
Your favorite TV shows
etc etc etc

The US didn't create the Internet, nor did the US create/popularize video games. Specifically on the latter come on man, you are on a video game forum and you can't even give credit where its due.

It's part of the "Americans only care about themselves" narrative. Self-centered, self-absorbed.

BTW: One popular rumour during my school years was that Americans believed Hitler was still alive and that Germans loooooved Hitler. Crazy, right?
Or is it?

I think you're confusing Hitler with Walt Disney. Every American child knows that Hitler committed suicide when the USA came knockin on his door.

Just a small video but it always amazes me how other countries still view the United States even today, most of it being completely false. Specifically the parts about justice and being able to achieve your dreams.

I was wondering how long this would take.

The US created the Internet but not the world wide web.

Ok so he said created the internet interpretation invented which was the US and no one is talking about the WWW.

I was mainly referring to the games comment, because I assume he was thinking Japan invented video games which is not even close.
