Well, it's 20 years between MGS3 and V, so not exactly overnight.

So what happened in those 20 years to change him? He just said fuck it because why not? Please tell me if I was just not paying attention because right now I feel like I'm losing my fucking mind.

:P

This is the spoiler thread so you can post whatever.

Yes I recall in the Episode 51 footage Eli has the virus but in the actual game it is revealed that Quiet was infected.

People have said Eli having one of the vials is insurance if you chose to kill quiet. So that Plotpoint will happen anyway.

How idiotic it is that nobody in Diamond Dogs figures out that Quiet has the English strain inside her.

*She used to work for the enemy. Everyone in MB knows this.
*She has all superpowers that the parasites grant.
*For some reason she's not speaking.
*Skull Face claims that the carrier of the strain is very close to Venom, and that he WILL get infected.

Yet no one, not even Code Talker identifies her as the carrier of the strain.

So much bullshit.

I think in a tape it is mentioned that skull face infected her with the english strain thus saving her life. So both is true. Eli has the vial and Quiet was already infected before setting foot on motherbase.

Was there an explanation I missed for them not just handing her a piece of paper to write on?

Code Talker knew, actually. He reveals the truth while Ocelot and Kaz are questioning why Quiet took off.

However, yes, more people should have figured it out.

Alrighty that makes sense.

Although that just adds one more subplot that wasn't resolved to the actual game.

Wait.. how would that work? Wouldn't they have to redo the cutscene and a bunch of dialogue? The thing has 3 vials in it, one is missing. In Skull Face's death cutscene Mantis saves one of them that's thrown into the fire so that only one is ever destroyed. How do they rework it to make sense if Quiet isn't around?

Really, why have the option to kill Quiet at all when she's so important to the plot?

I assumed they were both infected since mantis prevented one of the vials from being destroyed in yhe fire by snake.

add it to the list behind cloudy eyes miller and Eli's escape.

The implication is that the missing Vial was jabbed into quiet before she was captured, the glass container was probably discarded.

in teh actual game you can see one of the vials flying off and being grabbed by mantis

in the deleted scene at the very end mantis removes the parasite from eli through the power of psycho-magick

Diamond Dogs in general aren't pretty smart, no one could detect a whole military group attacking the base.

And they let a bunch of kids steal their giant bipedal weapon. Fucking dolts. Seriously, even their previous incarnation couldn't prevent someone from jacking their shit (ZEKE) or one idiot Russian from constantly being helped to escape, before hiding in the fucking shooting range.

"She don't wanna do it" - Master Interrogator Revolver Ocelot (AKA Kojima is a hackfraud).

Ocelot learned from Volgin, someone who kept spewing out vital information no one knew to a room full of people while "interrogating" someone.

There are three English vials. One is used on Quiet right at the start. After she gets burnt, around the time she also gets the magic power parasites (which are parasites but not the omg you all die now ones).

Two are then with Skull Face until he dies. One gets thrown into the fire and one gets caught by Mantis and given to Eli.

Eli then uses that on his island of the flies but starts showing symptoms (puberty and voice deepening trigger it apparently which is why the other kids don't show symptoms during that cut mission). BB gives him a gun to end himself because BB is gonna burn the island with napalm to kill the virus (and anyone infected) but Matnis rips the parasites from his throat via magic and they ride off into the sky with magic and sunshine.

Sure, but if you choose to kill Quiet when you meet her then Skull Face's warning shouldn't happen. He says it's very close. When you have Quiet with you this makes sense, but if you killed her early on in the game, then it doesn't make sense.

That's one thing I never understood. Mantis infected Liquid? Why did he steal the vial? All he does is cure Liquid with his own power later, what's the vial for?

The way I understood it originally was that Eli didn't "escape" but was infected with the parasite and released, so that MB would pick him up and it would eventually kill them, something like that, and indeed as insurance in case V killed Quiet, cause he wouldn't kill Liquid, presumably.

At the end, Mantis suddenly decides to remove the parasite. Why now and not earlier (one would presume because he's not going back to MB), and why have the vial?

Ocelot says they tried that and she didn't write.

Ahaha fucking hell, at the time I had ignored this point as i didn't have the whole picture yet, but fuck me....

Even people who have complete paralysis below the neck learn to communicate with blinks.

why is chapter 2 called Race
why would chapter 3 had been called Peace

maybe there's some alternative dimension where the MGO budget went to finishing this game.

There is no dimension where Konami would rather have money spent on a single player experience and not a multiplayer one that will be full of microtransactions.

Well, after being forced to kill The Boss, and seeing how she was used and thrown away by the government she devoted her entire life away, disillusioned him. He broke away from the United States and formed his own military nation, to create a place where soldiers would always have a place. In time this desire devolved, as being surrounded by constant conflict and strife turned him into the warmonger he'd become.

From Metal Gear 2:
The nightmares? They never go away, Snake. Once you've been on the battlefield, tasted the exhilaration, the tension... it all becomes part of you. Once you've awakened the warrior within... it never sleeps again. You crave even bigger tensions, ever bigger thrills. As a mercenary, I'd think you would have realized that by now. You care nothing for power, or money, or even sex. The only thing that satisfies your cravings... is WAR! All I've done is give you a place for it. I've given you a reason to live.
On the battlefield, you and I are valuable commodities. But back "home", we're nothing but dead weight. If we're lucky, we might get the attention of some two-bit journalist from a cheap tabloid. You and I are doomed to remain here until we die like dogs on the battlefield.

I never really felt like there was a need for Kojima to explain what happened between MGS3 and MG1, it always seemed like a natural enough route, but I did think maybe there was room to tell a story of its own in that time period, one that could be interesting for its own reasons.

Instead all we get is a bunch of dumb junk about mammal pods and wolbachia.

What if MGO is actually the third chapter of the game

they infect Eli so that they can drive all the adults off the island either through killing them or simply fear/knowledge that the parasite is there.. that's how they get control of it to do their lord of the flies schtick

took the chopper from one platform of my motherbase to another at dawn. the "WHOAAAAAHOOOOOOOO" part kicked in right as we swooped across the ocean as the sun was rising. now i understand why the chopper rides take so long. they're meant for moments like that. if you wanna get to another platform fast you use the box.

There is no dimension where Konami would rather have money spent on a single player experience and not a multiplayer one that will be full of microtransactions.

There is a dimension where Unreal was used instead of spending money developing Fox Engine which allocated more funds and time to the singleplayer.

We External Gazer now.

Chapter 2 was a race for the the team to finish the game. Meta as fuck.

Peace would have been peacing out of the company but they didn't finish the race.
