How did they let all these kids escape mother base? Seriously it's an oil platform in the middle of the ocean. Did they steal a helicopter? Some of them are in Africa and some of them are in Afghanistan. Did they steal two helicopters? Worst security ever. It was nice of them to escape to the two areas that are in the game though.
Ocelot tells you that they stowed away on cargo containers and helicopters. Some end up back home and some got lost on the way home. Considering all of MB's operations are in Afghanistan and Angola, it makes sense that they end up in those two places.

How the fuck do you explain the Skulls summoning a gun out of their hands
The guns are just invisible and visually appear to materialize at will, as it's established via Quiet that the parasites make it so that not just their flesh but clothes are able to seemingly appear and disappear.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm stumped on how to get mission 46. I've completed every other main op, fully built mother base and done all of the important side ops. From what I've seen online these are the requirements.

Is advancing the combat deployments necessary? I'm on the second S ranked one; these are giving me a lot of trouble.

That was it? That was the "true end"?
A bunch of revelations that people jokingly thought up that turned out to be actually true? Great.
Time to go youtube the 51st mission.

Somehow I get the feeling that a decade from now, Kojima and Konami will reconcile somehow and we're going to get "MGSV: The Ultimate Cut" or something.

Y'know, I wonder.

If Huey had just been straight with everyone and didn't do a bunch of shit to sabotage Diamond Dogs, would he have been able to get off the hook? Or was Miller going to find a way to show-trial Emmerich with a GUILTY verdict/encourage a lynching no matter what?

MGSV is basically Evangelion.

They ran out of funding, and the final episode was a clip show with very little new animation. And the final scene was this: https://youtu.be/wDajqW561KM

The difference is, we won't get an "End of MGSV". We have an unfinished Episode 51, and that's all we'll ever have.

I'd say the latter. With the shit Miller's been through, he doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who'd trust anyone apart from whoever got in that chopper 9 years ago.

It's a shame that every character in the game is basically unkillable due to TIME PARADOX, we never get to see Miller really push his character to the extreme and lose it. Best we get is him lightly tapping Huey with his cane for being guilty of slaughtering hundreds of their comrades.

Among all the content I want to pretend was cut when it was trimmed from five chapters to two, it's a shame we'll never see Ocelot having to eventually take him out so Liquid can inexplicably impersonate a guy who has to be 30 years older than he is.

Unlike Evangelion's TV end I'm not a fan of this. I'm just sad at all of the stuff that could have happened and I'll lament it forever.
End of MGSV will be a crappy sprite newgrounds-tier video where venom snake bites it.

I finished it up and didn't do most of that. Still need to finish up motherbase.

Have you listened to the yellow tapes?

Difference is we don't even get the classic MGS theme because it was plagiarism and they had to get rid of it.

Not that it would be fitting anyway, since we are playing a random phony dude instead of Snake.

Remember when MGS4 kept getting delayed? Not sure who to blame...Is Kojima Production just too slow? They have til 2012 (or even eariler) to finish

Honestly, I feel like I see this a lot from Japanese devs.

Look at Final Fantasy 15, which was called Final Fantasy 13 Versus.
Hasn't it been like 9 to 10 years since they started developing it?
Gran Turismo series also takes a really long time too.

The bigger a game gets, the harder it is to pepper it full of tons of weird Easter eggs and quirky optional mechanics.

You can see with this game just how wild they went with their open-world missions, and how much they had to start cutting back when the release date got etched in stone. In a game where the player has the freedom to go in any direction and do any activity at any time, any small change could have big unintended consequences.

I'm really impressed with how smoothly all the mission scripting seems to work. All the activities and enemy reactions to the things the player can do in the game are incredibly well accounted for here, in a way that puts pretty much every other open world game to shame. I'm not surprised they had trouble hitting that level of polish for every single mission they wanted to do.

I can't imagine the chaos that could ensue if the game let you drop a bear onto your own Mother Base.

Guys, the mgs games are my all time favorite series. its basically the only reason why I am still plaing games, and I will probably be replaying 1-4 in my deadbed with vr goggles on, who knows.

The last 7 days I was playing 16h / day (just so that you know it - the last game I played was actually mgs4). I never play 16h/day, this is an exception in my life.

The game began great, and I was getting my warm cozy feel when listening to the extensive tapes at the beginning of the first Afghanistan mission. The intricate details explaining the Afghan situation, the subtitles showing the model of Ocelot's glasses, everything seemed perfect.

Then ... slowly over the next 2-3 days ... something felt off, more and more. There were some okay-ish elements like rescuing Huey and the appearance of Sahelanthropus, although the escape scene from it already began to feel clunky in all honest - but I brushed it off.

I knew that we would get a chapter 2 (and maybe a chapter 3), it was obvous (the game even started with a "chapter 1" text), and I was picturing how we would get introduced to a third yet unrevealed area, to see great character moments with Zero, how we would meet Campbell, how we would meet Frank Jaeger's adopted sister (Naomi Hunter) in Mozambique, how there would be a flashback scene showing how Big Boss rescued Frank from the FRELIMO prison camp, how Eva would make an appearance, maybe even seeing Amanda, Clark and Sigint.

When the infamous Jeep sequence materialized out of nowhere I actually began to realize that this would become the biggest disappointment in video game history, when I saw big boss idling out opposite skull face, a scene completely untypical for Kojima. This would have actually played out so much better in a 15 minute cutscene. This one scene showed that something went horribly wrong alog the development process.

When I realized that most of the cut-scenes shown in all those trailers have not happened yet in chapter 1 my fears began to grow and grow. This actually led me to the conclusion that chapter 2 would consist mostly of those scenes and probably not introduce any characters outside of the trailers. Still, I had my hopes...

Well, we know how this all turned out. Hopes which were utterly crashed with a sledgehammer. I will never replay mgs v again, I will never touch it again. It actually aches when I think back to it and about the years which led to this game, with all those great trailers. I guess these were actually the only redeeming part about this whole project ogre.

Well, I guess some series need to come to an end, and this has definetly happened now. We still got some exceptional games out of Kojima, so I am thankful for that, but this time I actually support all the voices calling for giving the series a rest. I actually do not want any more mgs games. The disappointment from this is just too big. Kojima actually brought the series back to zero, literally.

Liquid probably noticed that they looked and sounded alike and was like "hey, this is really convenient"

Anyone who defeats the skulls in Code Talker: Extreme is incredible. I barely did it, but with a b rank. It's like the quiet fight (one shot kills) but with four at once and better eyesight. The only way to get an s rank it seems is to skip the fight entirely.

So does anybody know what happen to Mother Base from the end of Phantom Pain to the rest of the timeline ? It wasn't mentionned in both timeline at the end.

Okay, I swear I saw Code Talker out by one of the flag platforms while leaving Mother Base just now. I went back and he was gone. What... Plus I'm hearing Eli is somewhere on MB while he's there also? Dammit, I missed things, ugh.

He also tends to sit on platforms where only ladders lead too. I think he has parasitic powers that allow him to move like Quiet if he wants.

Someone here got a screencap of him idly sitting by during the rain scene by coincidence lol
