Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Damn the haters are going to have a hard time moaning about story.

Well done bungie, stealth mission in particular was great.

Lovin it

I got a Thorn from the Veteran's tour engram. Pretty happy with that. It's already my highest light weapon. So useful until I find something better/hit 40.

I played through the first couple new story missions. They definitely stepped up both the mission design and the story/cutscenes quality.

I have too much to play with this, MGSV and Mario Maker! Not to mention the backlog.

Not sure if I want to fully commit to this game honestly, but does anyone know if Gamefly will eventually carry it? Or is The Taken King strictly considered DLC?

Sorry, can't help you with that as it's probably different with each class too. In the quest log you can see "Rewards:" for some of the quests so I'd assume it would have "Artifact" as reward.
Well it looks like I might have somehow missed out on it and some shader.....

It's digital only at this point. When you buy a physical copy it just has Destiny on disc with a voucher to download The Taken King

I like how the levels in TTK are set up so
you don't feel like everything was pre-determined. You can actually act like a Wizard has to do something in order to progress. Typically it's all about ramps, roads, and ladders in other games. You have everything predetermined, so the players roam around feeling like tools instead of people trying to survive.

Make me climb on a pole that's 1000 feet in the air just so I can look down. Don't just let me roam around a big play pen.

I just started the first Dark Below mission, level 25, and I'm getting fucking massacred by the boss at the end of it. The mission even says "easy"...what the heck is going on?

really don't like this Taken patrol quest. probably because i'm underleveled but it's so annoying and has taken nearly a dozen reloads of Venus to complete.

Hardest fight in the game if you're specced wrong or don't have a super/grenade/heavy ready.

That happened to me too. I had to go on some other missions and come back. After that it was super easy. You just can't walk out in the middle of the room either. I just did it from a distance. I also went and got another gun, so that might be it.

I just got a Monte Carlo from a green engram.
Did everyone else get the same or did I just get lucky?

I got the same! It was the one Exotic primary that eluded me before that I really wanted. With the auto rifle buff, it felt great. Now I just need to start earning Legendary Marks to upgrade it to year two, as the handful of uncommon (green) TTK weapons I found in the first mission had higher attack values.

I only had time to play this for about half an hour last night. My experience was:

Went to the tower. Everyone I spoke to gave me something! First, spoke with Rahool who gave me Monte Carlo. Did the first mission. It was awesome. Drops like crazy. Uncommon having higher attack or defense stats the old Legendaries and Exotics. Then went back to the tower, and again, everyone I spoke to gave me more shit. I've been handed more quality engrams, weapons, armour, emblems, shaders and ships in the opening 30 minutes than the first couple of months of played vanila Destiny.

I just switched over to the Bladedancer class on my Hunter completely fresh, so nothing's built out for it. Maybe that's it? Should probably switch back to Gunslinger since that's fully specced out...

Edit: Just beat him but he was still kicking my ass hard even fully specced. Really weird.

Just finished the main quest line. Greatly improved variation in objectives, a lot of cool interesting spaces to explore, and actual cutscenes that fleshed stuff out.

My main complaint is that it felt like I'd only touched the surface when it was over, it felt kinda rushed. I wish there was a tonne more :/

I always enjoyed the concept of the strike playlists and since they are a lot better now (both in challenge and reward bonuses) I know where a lot of my playtime will be.

I got Hard Light.

Is there a reason to care about Y1 exotics? we are just going to get Y2 ones, right?

Some year one exotics can be upgraded to year two. For weapons, it means damage goes from 170 to 280, I think.

There's a giant blue iPad on the wall near the Crucible vendor. This is where you get to manage/upgrade your Exotics.

Man, that was some great play on expectations! This game!

Mission 4/5 spoiler:
The mission where you have to collect a sample of the soul crystal. "Missions ends in 23 seconds..." and then BAM, surprise attack and the mission continues for 30 more minutes. Amazing!

But I'm not a high enough light level D:
Make sure your level 40.Do all of character quests to get the higher leveled gear. Do the alliance quest for a fraction to get a exotic class item. Use your marks to get the vanguard ghost rather then armor.

Ghosts from what I'll seen are harder to get.
