Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Played 3 story mission so far, questing is the way it should've been from the start. Initial impression are excellent, can't wait to play more when I get back from work.

After you finish the game you get a quest that takes you through the VoG. So anyone that never got a chance to raid it will get to see it. It's a really fun quest. Challenging alone too around level 210.

VOG quest was great I agree, intense

I'm a bit confused-

I own the original Destiny. Have they re-done the original campaign with 2.0? If I want to start a new character with 2.0, am I missing anything up to level 20 if I have none of the expansions?

I'm interested in TK if it's the huge reboot everyone is talking about, but I'd like to just play my existing copy to see the changes first...

As a first time player of destiny how important are the classes?

Will be starting tomorrow and not sure which one to go for.

They have a greater impact on play style, but you'll progress just fine with any of them.

That said: be a Hunter.

The original campaign has been reorganized, had a few side quests added into the mix, and had the two prior DLC's integrated into it, along with some light narrative elements that help tie it together. Combined with the new leveling system it's a much better experience than prior 2.0.

So after logging into Destiny last night and this morning I have found that I have access to TTK and all its content despite not having purchased it yet. Is there some kind of trial period? I'm really confused.

I felt the final boss fight was a big let down. Why does daddy seem so pathetic compared to crota who seemed invincible.

The story of Destiny has kind of jumped the shark for me. Once the hive started talking in english, it kind of broke all plausibility to me. I have less interest in the story and world now after TTK.

Not all bad though. At least mechanically they made nice improvements to the gameplay. And I will still keep playing MP a lot.
Well Crota was a raid boss and Oryx is just a story boss.

No idea what the new raid holds.

Pretty sure Oryx is the Raid Boss and it's a situation like Skolas where you stop plans in the story but finish them off in endgame.
Well the community OT title (long live the king) was provided by Luke Smith. He told us that it would make sense to us once the raid is released.

Dumb question

I bought Destiny and Expansion Pass back then.

Deleted the content from my PS4 and traded in the game.

If I purchase the Legendary Edition Digitally, it will re-install all files + Taken king and I will be able to use my account I used on my prior physical edition

correct?

Can someone give me some advice? I loved the gunplay in destiny 1.0 but the lack of story, repetitive missions etc really killed it for me and I stopped before I even got to max level.

Based on this would you recommend coming back with this expansion? Or is not enough added to be worth it? Also is there any differences between the consoles (including community size etc)?

Do I still have to download the 18 gbs if I buy the taken King disc?

Like if I buy the retail game at the store is it still required to download this update or is the update on the disc?

Largest community is PS4 by far, but there are a fair number of xbox one users also over in community board.

The original poor story builds are still in the game but they tie together using the quest lines telling a tiny bit more story, the new content appears refreshing, and some of the old content has been adjusted so there will be randomness to enemies etc as opposed to a pre set routine .

Now is a good time to jump in, basically the game we all thought we were getting last september, this is it with nobs on.

Finally gonna find out who the Awoken Queen's husband is huh

It's here brother. /s

Though I wouldn't be surprised... They be weird space elfs and all.

I completed the main story and heard about the post-story stuff.. Holy shit there is a lot to do.

So I have the original Destiny but stopped playing before the first DLC.

What's my best value option here?

I'm thinking the $20 trade in with GameStop to get it for $40 is the best deal.

The fact that the "new" physical release of the game contains the old disk and a code for the 18GB of the DLC is some bullshit.

Pricing for the DLC sucks too.
Fuck you Activision!

Yeah that is a bit of an odd one, i'm guessing they did it to keep costs down, can't eat into those profits.

Cool thanks for letting me know! :) sounds like I'll have to check it out again then!

Well yeah because oryx
is the taken king, he took... Himself

That boss fight reminded me a lot of the Diablo fight at the end of the Diablo 3 story. Huge improvement over the original boss fights from the start of this dlc the boss's just pursued you constantly if I wasn't rolling with one of my friends, those story missions would have been tough.

I love all the little things they made you do to simply unlock a door in this game, to a different type of platforming.....the stealth of
interrupting the funeral, I'm sure that will be part of the raid as well

Over all super impressed and I hope the publications put out reviews that reflect similar thoughts.

My google fu is weak right now, I'm finding a ton of info on factions, everything but how the hell do you sign up/choose which faction???

Where do I get the Suros stuff? Or the Vanguard stuff? Vanilla level guy. I'm looking for the emote/shader too. There's nothing at the postmaster except a one time level 25 thing. I pre-ordered for months. Should I contact Amazon to give me a code? I did geta Vanguard 3 pack code in my game case, but nothing for Suros.
Suros weapon pack weapons are level 30 weapons, you probably won't even need them once you start the taken king quest line. They can be found in the tower, as soon as you land turn right passed the cryptarch, up the steps, head to the hanger, the robot opposite of the dead orbit faction leader, he is at a table. He also has material exchange there as well.

Just go see one at the tower and it will ask if you want to pledge allegiance, 2500 glimmer

Top of the page,,,,again.

You no longer need to wear a faction related item, and can only change allegiance once a week. Just talk to a difference faction and pledge allegiance to them instead.

If I play vanilla 2.0 from the beginning up to level 20, what content is going to be missing in that range if I don't have Ttk and the two dlcs?

You'll have base quests, legacy strike playlist, legacy crucible matches, crucible / vanguard bounties, gunsmith weapon testing and i think that's about it.
