Karin announced for SFV

Anyone else wants Maki to complete the roster?

Look at that glorious blonde mane.

Maki rox. Would prefer her to Guy as the FF rep.

As for Blonde Fighter V, how about Eagle?

Does Urien count as platinum blonde?

Sistas need love too, Ono.

I'm cool with Elena being in, though it's looking less likely that ANY SF3 characters are going to be in the initial roster, and that's pissing me off quite honestly.

I think it's a fair assumption Alex and Urien will be in based on everything else Siliconera has said being right.

I think everyone should just relax and hold off on getting pissed until we see if they get confirmed or not.

Loving this game's roster so far... changing things up really nicely, I feel this'll be the to 4 what Third Strike was to 2.

They could have rotated the reveals a bit better, then, instead of doing all Alpha characters and then all (2) SF3 characters.

Sort of what they're doing with the all-new characters; space out returning vets from II, Alpha, and 3. Placate the fanbase for all three without making one feel like they're being left out for too long.

Please no....waste of character slot.
why cant we get Joe or Geki?
we need for street fighter 1 characters.

Is that leak list gonna be true?

I don't know how you're calling Urien a wasted spot when Vega already makes Geki redundant

Retsu would be cool out of the SF1 fighters though

Even her eyes look more yellow than hazel.

We need Maki, Eagle, Alex, Juni, Cody, Abel and Rufus for complete blonde saturation.

Pretty sure he's being facetious.

Damn, I'm amazed they announced her now, figured they'd save someone as popular to be one of the last 2 reveals

I think it was due to her placing so well in Japan. Perfect place and time to do the reveal. Really great to see her back after so long too.

They probably could have mixed it up a bit more. The reveals to an extent went by location for some (Rashid in UAE iirc, Karin in Japan as discussed above) but they could have swapped out an SF3 character for Mika or Vega.

Regardless though, no point getting annoyed if you're still getting what you want. Might as well chill for now and wait it out. Honestly I'm pretty confident we'll get those two.

Again, they didn't reveal the SF3 characters yet for story reasons. They aren't officially tipping their hands as to the timeline, even if the Capcom UK rep let it slip on stream recently. It has nothing to do with ignoring or insulting a portion of the fanbase.

On topic, Karin looks alright, stage looks awesome.

Edit: Would pay for brown eyes in all characters.

Well technically that's the issue. I don't just want any ol' SFIII characters. I was hoping for two picks among Ibuki, Dudley, Q, Necro, Elena, Urien or Oro. But particularly among Q, Necro, Urien or Oro since they haven't been in any SF games over the past few years.

So yeah I guess Urien's confirmed, but that's only one from the list. I was never a big Alex fan tbh so him jumping in doesn't mean too much to me. Granted, I'm not one of those sorts that's super-strict on who they play and only plays characters for their looks, so I'll definitely be trying different fighters. Right now good mains for my taste would look to be Mika, Ken, and Rashid.

But part of me feels like most of the decisions for who gets to be in the game are based on popularity votes instead of stuff that should be more important, like what mix of characters bring enough unique properties to compliment the game mechanics and other cast to create the most interesting sorts of matches.

Not saying they don't have that already, but c'mon; Necro and Oro would offer a lot of cool stuff in V's engine and make for some insane matchups against other characters. But because they aren't a Karin or Mika in popularity, they probably won't get in. Despite the fact that them getting in could give them the exposure to eventually become as popular (or more popular) than those characters, that's why you gotta take chances on oddball picks with your cast.

And no, I don't think Capcom's taken too big a risk on the returning chars so far. Birdie, Mika, Nash, Karin...they're all fairly well known and popular Alpha characters. The returning II chars need not be mentioned; we know those are safe picks, even though they've done some great work in reinventing some of them like Ken. I will say that so far they're 100% on-point with the new characters; they're already more cohesive and better-designed than any of IV's newcomers.

The stages, too, are awesome. ESPECIALLY Karin's stage. I could stare at it for an entire match without even caring about the fight.

Wow, stage looks awesome, best one yet. Karin looks pretty good too. Not a fan of her super being almost exactly the same as Dudley's though.

What was the slip?

Just going to take a bit more time to get used to as she hasn't been in a 3d game before like most of the others.

Mika too, but I think she fared a bit better.

Ken, Maki, Mika, Karin... I didn't know so many Japanese people dyed their hair blonde.

Japanese artists and designers probably don't want to just give every Japanese character black hair for the sake of some kind of "ethnic accuracy." Let them live!

(not sure why it's always blonde, but surely there is a Japanese culture expert among us who can speculate)

I hear you and get where you are coming from. When SF4 hit there really wasn't anyone I wanted to use so I ended up using Rose until Super hit and Adon returned.

Anyway the nice thing about this game is they'll continue to support it and add characters so while I'll be using Karin and you'll be using Urien other favorites should show up later.

Another thing is they are clearly not just using popularity, but that's not entirely true, you say Birdie was a safe pick but in reality he didn't do well in the polls and I've never considered him a popular character. I think he shows that they will take some chances and add characters to fit the game rather than just going full popularity contest.

And yeah I agree overall the design and choices in this game are well done, I've been working since the reveal and really want to get a good look at her stage when I get home, it looks nice but it's so small on my phone.

Oh man, why are [CHARACTERS I DISLIKE] being put in the game for trivial, frivolous reasons, while [CHARACTERS I LIKE] being ignored for legitimate, serious ones?

What is the full list of all the leaked roster everyone is talking about?
There's no full list, just two sources that haven't been wrong so far and match the remaining characters

Basically Alex + Urien as the last returning characters and Laura (Brazil) + Zen (India) as the last newcomers

Technically, so is Bison.

Also, if people are complaining about the excess amount of blondes why aren't people complaining about the disproportionate amount of rich fighters?

Bison - Leader of criminal organization with cloning capabilities.
Ken - Rich playboy.
Vega - 2nd in command of criminal organization with cloning capabilities.
Rashid - Rich playboy.
Karin - Heiress to a Zaibatsu.
(Urien) - President of secret group that controls the world.

And the rest of the cast mostly has great jobs in Interpol, the Illuminati, of elite military groups so they have to be making bank. The only dirt poor characters are Ryu, Necalli, and Birdie.

Street Fighter V is classist.

Wow that's fucking disgusting.
