Karin announced for SFV

I wouldn't, expect them as dlc

I wouldn't expect them as DLC either, I figure they'll be on the starting roster.

I'm happy that Karin's back, though she fills the slot in the roster that Fei Long would have if she wasn't here.

Still, while I personally like Fei Long, Karin's at least slightly more creative design-wise and seems to have a much bigger fanbase, plus I think Fei Long still has some ill feelings towards him after his dominance for much of SSFIV and SSFIVAE.

Hopefully they'll bring some of my main characters back with the DLC since there's almost no chance of Guy making it into the launch set since he's got dark hair. Until then, I'll stick with the new Cammy unless Necalli surprises me and doesn't move and attack too slowly to be fun for me.

It'd be a real cool twist if they put Maki in, instead of Guy. I'd main her in a heartbeat. I wouldn't be surprised if we get neither at launch, though.

I've never liked Fei Long but I think with the way they seem to be implementing Karin he can be added later and still be unique. It's a shame they nixed her counters and command throw though.

Seems Capcom is also reluctant to add counters like SNK was with KOFXIII, both Billy and Daimon lost their counters too.

Maybe because the counters favor a 'guessing' style of play?

I have to say, SFV has pleased me a bunch with it's character selection so far. If the leaks are true, solid roster so far.

Now all I need is Ibuki and Juri as DLC and I'm gold.

She has a new overhead grab follow up though

Oh, I am glad to hear that. I can't quite check everything out until I get home.

Maybe. I always liked being able to reverse enemy attacks and that's part of why Karin is my favorite SF character. I guess I'll deal with it though.

The CA KO finish just looks bad. I understand they want to place Karin between the K and O but it just leaves a lot of empty space behind her, bad composition imo. Could've at least positioned the camera like in Dudley's U2.

Otherwise she looks fun. Is it me or does she have insanely fast dashes?

Again, they didn't reveal the SF3 characters yet for story reasons. They aren't officially tipping their hands as to the timeline, even if the Capcom UK rep let it slip on stream recently. It has nothing to do with ignoring or insulting a portion of the fanbase.

On topic, Karin looks alright, stage looks awesome.

Edit: Would pay for brown eyes in all characters.

I don't know much about the SF timeline, but does this mean getting Juri in an update is unlikely?

Though I do have trouble imagining them ignoring the SF4 newcomers altogether...

Is it just me or did she lose a lot of her old moves such as the air throw, command grab and counters? I'm pretty disappointed to be honest. I understand why they would make her rekkas V-Trigger, but I feel like she won't be as fun as in Alpha 3.

What was the slip?

One commentator was trying to get him to give some info on upcoming characters (was really trying to get him to say "Urien") but the rep did say that the game takes place after 4 but before 3. He basically said "Well, I think I can say this, it's pretty much known at this point, right?"

He also said there are technical characters incoming.

No, to the contrary. If this game takes place after 4 and before 3, the semi-popular SF4 characters (of which there are 2, Juri and Viper) are more likely to show up than the SF3 characters, some of whom can be left out/for last for plot reasons. Eventually the roster will be big, and they've got a lot of bankable characters to work with. Juri is fairly popular, so she'll probably be in at some point.

Seriously she's perfect. Her fighting style seems more refined with all the power as before but more flowing. Her clothing follows this by looking less 90s-sporty and more classy but still ready for business, like old European sport fashion. I could see her finishing a fight then riding a horse to a fencing match. Perfect Karin.

I think SF4 characters will come in an update if they do. There weren't any of the new characters from 3 in SF4 at first, too.

Also, so so so happy to see Karin confirmed. I need this game yesterday.

She lost some moves, got some new.

Older moves now have new followups - Mujin kyaku has extra kicks afterwards, Ressenha has a new grab and her old slide, she has a new dash with two new follow ups, Koouken is now ex Ressenha, etc

I am going to miss some of her old moves but otherwise I completely agree with you. In particular her outfit update is even better than what I though was possible. They hit the mark on that so well I'm in awe. Even on the missing moves I'll reserve judgment until I get to play her. Really hope she's in the next Beta and the next Beta is soon.

Hours later I'm still trying to properly process Karin making her return. She was one of the main reasons Alpha 3 was one of my most played games in the franchise.

I'm really looking forward to pouring hours into SFV now.

Technically, so is Bison.

Also, if people are complaining about the excess amount of blondes why aren't people complaining about the disproportionate amount of rich fighters?

Bison - Leader of criminal organization with cloning capabilities.
Ken - Rich playboy.
Vega - 2nd in command of criminal organization with cloning capabilities.
Rashid - Rich playboy.
Karin - Heiress to a Zaibatsu.
(Urien) - President of secret group that controls the world.

And the rest of the cast mostly has great jobs in Interpol, the Illuminati, of elite military groups so they have to be making bank. The only dirt poor characters are Ryu, Necalli, and Birdie.

Street Fighter V is classist.

And two of the poor characters are ostensibly villains.

There's no reason to doubt the Siliconera leaks at this point.

I think the only concern from those wanting Alex and Urien is that some believe that the image in Capcom's slides during EVO indicated that there would be eight SF2 characters, four new characters, and four Alpha characters.

Wasn't that just color coded assumptions? Did they actually say that there were to be 4 Alpha and 8 SFII characters?

In order for the whole cast to represent a middle class income on average, they need a bunch of rich people to balance out Ryu and Necalli being homeless.

Oh, Capcom didn't say anything. People were just going off of the coding and the position of the characters. The SF2 characters were all in green, the Alpha characters were in blue, and the blank slots (as there were no new characters revealed at the time) were purple.
