Karin announced for SFV

Her face, outfit and many of her move animations look jank. I don't think this character's finished yet. Or at least I hope not.

For me I think her hair needs work. Those curls just didn't transition well for me. Face is fine for the most part, at least matches the aesthetic. Cammy and Chun Li turned out better though. Hoping for a good alt costume otherwise.

No, it's not SFV's job to represent diversity. People make casual comments about the game being blond fighter V. Other fools say "no, actually VERY few of the characters are white!!" My comments are directed at those fools in the second group when I'm arguing said characters are for all intents and purposes, white.

As for the data thing, you accuse me of making points based on my feelings and say that I'm eurocentric... so isn't asking other people (especially Japanese people) and collecting some data the best and most neutral way to separate fact and fiction?
On a technical basis though only a third of the cast is white. I'm going by technical facts; you're going by optics.

I'm sure to some people Mariah Carey doesn't look bi-racial, but that doesn't mean she isn't half-black*. See what I'm saying?

Technically her pops is Black/Venezuelan, but you see my point

I'm pissed.

Yeah- it's anecdote. I'd be willing to bet that if you showed random people from all over the world this picture

and asked what country she was from, nobody would get it right (if they didn't already randomly know who she was).

She is definitely french, much more than Abel lol.

I think for some people is jarring seeing their characters make the jump from 2D to 3D. I personally love the way she looks but for some reason UE4 hair tech is lacking.. They murdered my boy Ken ;_; Hype for karin tho!

You'll play her anyway.

I'm saying the people that look at it solely through the 'technical facts' are missing the point. I mean, according to 'technical facts' the 11-year-old looking girls in those vita pedo games are secretly 10,000 year-old demons or some shit, so it's technically ok (which is absurd).

gonna go figure out what race i actually am later by asking five dudes out on the street. subjective superficial racial assessment of average strangers is the only reasonable and neutral way to settle it. hopefully I have enough painfully obvious stereotypical features for them to not only ascertain my ethnicity, but also my country of origin (where I'm not even from...damn this gets confusing)

Maybe I need more context, but this reads like "I'm ignorant and the world revolves around me". There's no "for all intents and purposes" with this. Does she look white? Maybe, depends on where you and your culture/perceptions. Is she white? No, and anyone who disagrees is wrong, full stop.

Difference being is that you're a real person while Karin is a fictional character used to represent an idea. And I don't think Street Fighter's lore is deep enough to have a character that deals with racial perception.

You originally think I'm wrong because I'm only looking at things from a single point of view and I'm looking at things emotionally. I offer to get other's peoples opinions to find out whether I'm right and you dismiss this method. What do you want? What would you accept as proof of me being correct or incorrect? I mean, I chose the harshest conditions I could think of- if I ask Japanese people if they think Karin is Japanese, wouldn't their answers be pretty definitive proof of whether I'm right or completely off-base?

I can't wait. Karin was always my favorite character. It's nice to see them bringing in other characters from well known series.

Edit: Oh, look. Top of the page.
