Karin announced for SFV

I really can't see what's wrong with her visual, not even a "she's not that ugly", I think she looks pretty good. Both in character select and in-game, which is a rarity for this game, it seems.

Except for the hair, it's a bit weird, but whatever.

And the yellow irises.

The weeaboos and otakus want chun, Cammy and Karin to look all animu like, Jesus just go play guilty gear or something if you want that look.

Cammy looked better before the change and chun.

yup
if the change sticks, what a bummer. cammy looked pretty rad before
now she looks like a fucking doll

Karin looks fine , and Cammy was a lot better before as well. Before getting all big-eyed anime like.

THIS...

FFS Capcom , Japan has like less than 10% of Street Fighters revenue. Ignore them , they just want to make this another Blazblue,GG-esque artstyle game. And how successful are those games outisde of Japan?

Karin looks hideous, it has nothing to do with her not looking "anime" enough or whatever nonsense people want to come up with, shes just ugly.

The only issue I really have with Karin is her hair. They did this with Ken too where they make blond hair banana yellow. And then even if there is texture to the hair, it's totally muted by the bright ass yellow coloring. Make the hair color more natural and both characters would look a hell of a lot better.

I don't agree, I think she looks cute but fierce at the same time.

I was pretty shocked at first just because of how different she looked. But, after seeing her these last few days, I'm used to it now. She doesn't look bad at all, just different.

some how hideous, ok

Her animations add to the hideous effect, like the way her face stretches when she laughs. I think her default wear is also lacking shadows or any clothing fold, so it makes her look like a piece of plastic.

While the whole of SFV is pretty ugly I'd say Birdie is the best looking character in the game. Best animations and best style.

Oh well, in progress work and all that.

No, there wasn't. The TGS stream just before Karin was revealed showed it's the same.

It's the alternate costume, guys.

weird, so alternate costumes are actually totally new models?
i mean..thats actually kinda cool? lets the "costumes" feel more unique

While I like SFV's look in general, I don't really think it's right to just label everyone complaining about her (or Cammy's) face a weeaboo or otaku. I don't know if they are asking for bigger eyes and giant chin, they just want her to look a bit more attractive. She's supposed to be a very pretty girl. Then again, she's an adult now and some people aren't really understanding that it isn't SFA Karin, it's the same character but years later.

On the flip side, I think Capcom is getting a bit of a pass because SF4 looked like dog shit and this looks significantly better. At least, I can admit to giving them a bit of a pass because I'm relieved that this looks legitimately good. Improved faces and hair and animations would make it look legitimately better IMO (all around, not just the chicks). But if nothing changes visually I'd be fine with it. It's still a beautiful game to look at. Except for some of the stage elements, they def could use some work (especially the waterfall stage).

She looks great though, I really do feel like the crux of this is just gonna end up being "not muh glorious 2d lipless waifu."

Agree with Cammy, but I'm perfectly fine with the changes made to Chun. I don't get what the "otaku" comments are about, though, this is the ojou laugh character, if anything, it's the one with the biggest "otaku appeal", isn't it?

What I hate is how they have taken some weird awkward poses and claiming she looks bad. Because if they take some normal screenshots (Like the character select screen ) , their point is moot.

Japan is spoiled.

OUR fighting game women looked like this:

C'mon, Japan. It's not that bad.
I will never get over Cassie's face. Actually, all the human faces in MKX look busted.

I'm loving all of the designs in SF5 so far, Karin the least, probably. I don't like her outfit, especially those stupid sleeves on that lame jacket thing whatever it is she's wearing, but I do like full leggings instead of half leggings. I think half leggings look stupid.

Sf4 did look like dogshit

it mainly seems like the facial animations are making things look funky. there's a lot more going on in terms of expressions than in SFIV, and some of that is bound to look off in stills, and things are obviously not complete. it's a lot harder to get those smirks and stuff done right in full animation.

Such hyperbole.
[looks at one screen shot, focuses on it immensely, ignoring all the great shots and what she actually looks like in motion]

"Looks hideous."

That one shot isn't representive of her face at all. You could go frame by frame in the trailer, and the only moment you'll see her looking weird is in that one moment. It's odd.

I imagine almost of the characters will be getting some sort of face lift before the game releases. New Cammy > old Cammy.

since we're on the subject, quoting KidA from the community thread (he probably posted this in here actually oh well)

There have been a couple of changes done to the TGS build compared to the PAX build. The portraits.

left side is tgs

These changes happened for other characters too. Are those new portraits the faces SFV characters will ultimately have?

indicative of model changes or just softer portraits? the bananas are fucking real tho
