That's not nearly as important as establishing Supergirl as an alternate universe.

I've been thinking thats the angle they'll go with, would be a lot more clean and still allows crossovers. "Hey, why isn't Superman helping Flash.... another universe thats why!"

And then the Gotham dimension...

I have a feeling Ezra Millers movie might canonise the multiverse that way. Even just seeing Grant Gustin breifly in the speedforce, might make people lose their shit.

What are the chances they canonise The Flash 90's series as Earth 3 or whatever? Imagine Barry meeting Dad Flash.

Nothing at all stopping them from doing this as well. That they were able to have Mark Hamill play the Trickster again and even us footage from the 90s show means there should be no rights issues at play.

Actually, now that I remember it, doesn't Eddie get pulled into the portal just like Jay did?

Yep, Eddie got sucked into the portal so there is no body. He should be dead because that time paradox is what gets rid of Eobard/Wells but I think the writers gave themselves some space to bring him back.

I think Zoom has to be from
Earth-1. His suit has the lightning emblem on it, and Earth-2 doesn't have that design.

Right now, my money is on Earth 1 Eddie being Zoom. Granted, he did shoot himself in the heart, but his body was sucked into the singularity and this is a comic book show.

Started watching this last week, caught up in time for the latest episode. The scope of what they're willing to do in a season is really impressive. Tons of villains, lots of easter eggs, and a really cohesive and satisfying plotline. In particular Captain Cold and Grodd were really well done. The entire Reverse Flash arc throughout the season was fantastically executed. Tons of respect for the showrunners for how they're willing to embrace all the cheesiness of Flash and play it with a straight face. The mileage they get out of the TV budget effects is really surprising too. Probably some of the best effects in a superhero TV series.

So... they're doing multiverse this season. Wow. I wonder if Zoom is.... an evil Barry Allen. Unless he's actually an alien or something, there wouldn't be a point in keeping his identity a secret if he's just a random dude from Earth-2. They said STAR Labs was founded in 1991 in Earth-2 right? Isn't that a whole decade before Earth-1?

My theory-

1- Eddie kills himself to erase Eobard from the timeline.

2- The singularity opens to erase the paradox-based timeline

3- Barry and Firestorm close the singularity, allowing their timeline to remain intact, despite the paradox at its core.

4- Eobard is dumped into Earth 2 (but earlier in the timeline) as the change to the timeline is never resolved, founds STAR labs and becomes Zoom.

Watching Streets of Fire then this episode assured me that retro-futuristic alternate universes are the best alternate universes.

There's no way they make Eobard Zoom, at least I really hope not, that would be super lame.

Sadly, Eddie got pulled into the Quantico universe and that show seems to be doing well.

Not that he can't appear, but imagine would be harder if/when your actual show is doing well now too.

The time doesn't add up
Zoom already exists at the time the hole opens.

A valid point, except for the fact that this is a comic book show that has time travel storylines. The portal was a hole in both time and space and it's a pretty standard sci-fi/comic book trope where people go through wormholes minutes apart, but arrive at the same location at vastly different points in time. I'm not saying my theory is correct, but comic book logic would easily allow for it. :-)

Also noticed another 52 reference by the cell that Jay was locked up in.

Never noticed that the cells have the same pattern as Firestorm's outfit.

Yeah I don't think Eddie is coming back until a few seasons down the road. Would be too soon to bring him back and wouldn't be a satisfying twist at all for Zoom. Though maybe earth-2 eddie will make a quick cameo appearance or something if they can snag Cosnett for an episode.

Eh it would feel like retread mostly of S1 and it would be super fucking lame.

You're wrong like usual panda.

Zoom is felicity, the alternate world Felicity which stabbed Oliver Queen in the back with a ice pick.

And you've been on my ignore list since you insulted Keanu Reeves' Speed. I took you off the ignore list to make this one comment.

Whatever created zoom, created Jay Garrick Flash. So whatever that flash of light was.

I'm glad they kept the hard water origin, guess a flash of light is better than accidentally leaving the cigarette burning while he fell asleep.

I'm now remembering that Eddie's body was pulled into the singularity. That has to mean something. He's got to be Zoom.

Eddie has suffered enough. If he comes back, I would like to see him return as a hero and have a second chance at happiness. Not as some monster villain twisted by space-time. Not have a mean-streak to torture the characters is one of the differences between Flash and Arrow. Even when there's tragedy in Flash, it's played straight and clean.

I had the biggest smile on my face at that point. In fact during the entire episode. My wife was shaking her head, "You're such a dork".

This is some straight up disturbing shit.

This episode is proof that some fanservice is done really right, it's done seriously right.

I too was smiling like a dork.

Yeah there's some body horror stuff in the series. The ways the villains have died in season 2 are pretty disturbing too. Atom Smasher was basically gas chambered by radiation, and Sand Demon was... shattered. Not very nice. But it's still straight and clean though. They die, there's no angst and torture. Eobard might be a real fucked up dude, but he killed Harrison Wells and his wife, and then stole his identity. Eventually the audience discovers this, and it is established that Wells himself was in fact a good man. It's clear that by taking over Well's life and his memories, it also affected Eobard and inflicted some form of good in him, however superficial.

Turning someone like Eddie who has been a good guy all through his life and just wanted to do the right thing, playing second fiddle to Barry Allen, and then making the ultimate sacrifice to save his friends and loved ones.... I dunno, turning him into a monster like Zoom is unnecessary and cruel for the character. I just don't see it.

They could also play into the "Earth 2 is phase one of Darkseid's invasion plan" aspect from the new 52 and make Zoom an amalgamation of Black Flash and the Black Racer, leading into a Justice League plot for next season.

I'd rather they didn't include the JL if we can't have Superman or Batman
