What an exiting time to be alive... I should be studying for a midterm but I am obsessively following the election. Go Trudeau! I think the NDP probably aligns with me better, but I want the Liberals to win and they are who I voted for. I know people here are skeptical but my (often misguided) optimism is that Canada may once again regain its rightful place in the world.

I kind of feel bad for Trudeau, he will spend most of the time cleaning up after Harper, and people will assume him to be a bad leader. Kind of like Obama.

Perhaps but inefficiency of our government will ensure that it'll take decades to recoup the initial spending. No way it'll be a cheap endeavor.

This would only happen if they came up with some scheme requiring consumers to get a permit. That could be inefficient. A licence to sell, though, could easily be cost recovered.

correction, Chantal is Franco-Ontarian and went to school in Ontario. And she is like a bridge trying to get English Canada to understand what Franco-Canadians think, including Quebec.

This is OK if Trudeau not only brings up the problems the conservatives have left to fix, but ALSO offering solutions to mitigate them over the long term and he can communicate some fixes will be tangential and others will not be as noticeable.

The best case scenario for Canada would be the NDP moving back to the left and the PC's reemerging. What happened to the PC supporters anyways? I feel like they would have moved to the LPC, the CPC is a far cry from the PCs.

Same for the midterm! But seeing Harper lose will be worth it. God it's disgusting we let it get this bad, but it's all good seeing as how we're fixing it.

I'm completely defeatist, but I think the NDP joining the Liberals and trying to force them to the left is the better solution than just dicking around with 30-40 seats and having absolutely no power whatsoever. I've been an NDP supporter for 15 years and I remember what it was like for the NDP to be the shitty 3rd party that no one cares about.
