Chantal Hebert is always like that. She's just serious because she's Quebecois. lol

Maybe I'm being overly emotional, but Layton was basically my Obama. 2011 was a high point for me and I thought Canada would change. 4 years later, I realize I would have been better off hoping I could ride a unicorn into Rivendale.

Well Justin was and is my Obama and I got on that train officially on October 3, 2012 when he first came to Richmond to officially announce his candidacy for LPC leader.

And after the defeat in 2011, I was already wanting him to run.

I still want the left to merge. It's the only way the NDP can salvage anything from this fucking disaster.

I don't care if the NDP name has to die for it to happen, because I think I'm done. :(
This isn't the solution. If there were a left/right party system in Canada, it would be Liberals and CPC. NDP would fade away like the PCs.

I understand the university students voting the Green party but at this point it's a vote wasted :(

Anyone else outraged over the ballot scandal? Elections Canada handling it very poorly.

What an exiting time to be alive... I should be studying for a midterm but I am obsessively following the election. Go Trudeau! I think the NDP probably aligns with me better, but I want the Liberals to win and they are who I voted for. I know people here are skeptical but my (often misguided) optimism is that Canada may once again regain its rightful place in the world.

I kind of feel bad for Trudeau, he will spend most of the time cleaning up after Harper, and people will assume him to be a bad leader. Kind of like Obama.

Perhaps but inefficiency of our government will ensure that it'll take decades to recoup the initial spending. No way it'll be a cheap endeavor.

This would only happen if they came up with some scheme requiring consumers to get a permit. That could be inefficient. A licence to sell, though, could easily be cost recovered.

Mansbridge with a complete flubb on air and he didn't even realize it.

He went through this grand preamble about strategic voting and then ended it by saying that voters have clearly chosen the NDP.

correction, Chantal is Franco-Ontarian and went to school in Ontario. And she is like a bridge trying to get English Canada to understand what Franco-Canadians think, including Quebec.

Half an hour!

What? She's always been pretty impartial. I couldn't stand listening to her a few years ago when she was talking doom and gloom about the Dion Liberals, so I know for a fact she doesn't support one party or another.

You should have seen her during the provincial QC election haha.

This is OK if Trudeau not only brings up the problems the conservatives have left to fix, but ALSO offering solutions to mitigate them over the long term and he can communicate some fixes will be tangential and others will not be as noticeable.

I am wary of a Liberal majority but if there is one thing that I trust Trudeau on, it is cleaning up Harper's mess and getting this country's reputation back.

It's not, LPC will always be the centre, so don't cry for the house Tommy D and Jacky L built.

The best case scenario for Canada would be the NDP moving back to the left and the PC's reemerging. What happened to the PC supporters anyways? I feel like they would have moved to the LPC, the CPC is a far cry from the PCs.

Same for the midterm! But seeing Harper lose will be worth it. God it's disgusting we let it get this bad, but it's all good seeing as how we're fixing it.

good fucking bye felicia

It's a real shame that in our zeal to get rid of Harper, we lost some good NDP candidates.

Let's remember this and move to PR asap.
This. I hope it doesn't discourage good candidates from running under the NDP banner in the future. When I can recognize Megan Leslie's name from the other side of the damn country, you know she's doing something right. She'll be missed.

LPC still leading in fucking Gaspésie—Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine after 10 polls reporting. I'm telling you again, if they win this, they win Quebec and they have a majority.

EDIT: 15 polls. LPC at 43,3%.

I'm completely defeatist, but I think the NDP joining the Liberals and trying to force them to the left is the better solution than just dicking around with 30-40 seats and having absolutely no power whatsoever. I've been an NDP supporter for 15 years and I remember what it was like for the NDP to be the shitty 3rd party that no one cares about.

To me Trudeau is like Hilary Clinton. Better than Trump, but worse than Sanders.

Oh is she like someone who grew up on/near the border? Since her home seems to be in Montreal, I just assumed she was a native Quebecois.
