Luke being slightly fucked up would be a real twist, especially if he is being sought out.

Look its no secret, the force awakens, someone of the main chararcters other than Kylo is force sensitive and Luke is the only known Jedi to have existed for a long time, the force sensitive person has to find them to complete any kind of training.

It was one battle in an ongoing war. Also the whole story with darth/luke was probably only known among a handful of people. Majority of people still think it's all faerie tales.
