Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

I think what PG means has changed a lot though. When the original movies came out, you had G, PG, and R. Nowadays, PG has essentially replaced G. (Seriously, there are sometimes less than 5 G rated films a year) and PG-13 has replaced the old PG. I can't see this getting a PG. Even if there's not a lot of blood or swearing, the battles as portrayed in the trailer seem a lot more visceral than the old films.

But at the same time, it looks far tamer than Sucker Punch which was also PG-13. They've stretched the boundaries so far, there almost needs to be a PG-15 to differentiate, or a PG-10.

I hope it happens, as Hayden is really good in everything else I've seen him in, and it would be nice for him to get another shot under better writing and direction. Also love watching prequel haters squirm so that's another plus.

Have you seen Jumper? He's not good in that movie. Not that the movie is good either but...

A little bit of schadenfreude isn't a bad thing I guess but the prequels are not good movies.

The previous teasers and the trailer already suggest it won't be like that - seems more like they've tried to emulate the style of the OT cinematography but using up to date special effects etc. Looks fantastic.

Besides, Star Wars is better base material to make good movies with than Star Trek.

JJ did wonders with what he had to work with for Star Trek.

The goddamn music when "This Christmas" comes up.

FUCK YES STAR WARS IS BACK!

It's been 10 years since Revenge of the Sith, unbelievable.

Looks so awesome. I can't help but wonder going from these scenes from the teasers and trailer if Dice were told that in atmosphere dogfights would be the big thing in Force Awakens which is why that is what they have concentrated on instead of space battles for Battlefront.

Have we ever seen a low atmosphere dogfight like that before? Hoth?

That is an oddly descriptive piece of speculation.

What? It's 2 sentences, one of which is about a fight we know happens (Finn vs Ren) there are posts in this thread with multiple choice paragraphs of "oddly descriptive pieces of speculation"

Very cool

I have never seen a magazine stand in a movie theater. Are you going to go somewhere and find one just to knock it over? There is nothing that would make me leave the movie.

But wherever would they put the complementary copies of Flicks, The Magazine For Moviegoers if there's no magazine rack?

Those Michael Jackson tickets won't win themselves.

Me too, just for thrill of seeing the war on peoples faces when it happens.

"I SAID ON THE INTERNET I WOULD GET UP AND LEAVE WHAT IF SOMEONE REALIZES IT WAS ME I CAN'T LEAVE THIS IS TOO AMAZING FUUUUCCCKKKK"

i live for that shit

You live for hypothetical people you won't know in a theater so will have to imagine this desired reaction happening?

The only other work I have seen Hayden Christensen in is the TV series Higher Ground. He was so awful there Obi-Wan cut him in two for it.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Luke dying if he went out on a peaceful note. Like, him "sleeping for the last time" as the sun sets in Tatooine. After what he's done in the OT, I think he deserves to go out on a note like that, rather than being killed off to hype up the new villain or whatever.

I don't want them to kill him to prove the villain is a bad ass or some shit. That's not what I mean. I mean I hope they don't just obi-wan him for no reason in order to pay homage to the original trilogy. That would be annoying an unoriginal.

So, as someone who has never seen any SW movie: what is the best way to get into the series? Which movies to watch and in what order?

Welp. I thought I was hyped before, but now I can barely contain it. HYPE.

Anyone else planning on seeing it a week or two after premier for better seats? Planning on watching on a weekday.

If you want the traditional way, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3.

If you want the story order, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Ignore people who tell you to write off the prequels forever. Watch them if you want and make up your own mind.

I would also suggest watching The Clone Wars, which is a canon animated series that takes place between Episodes II and III. Also Rebels, which is also canon and takes place between III and IV, although that's still ongoing.

Order of release, imo. A New Hope -> Empire ->Jedi -> Phantom Menace -> Clones -> Revenge of the Sith

I don't really like any of the prequels, but I don't hate them like everyone else (well, except for Attack of the Clones). Go into them with an open mind, not with all the ridiculous venom a lot of Star Wars fans have.

Me

Opening days are going to be rowdy as fuck in cinemas. Whilst that's adds a little atmosphere, I plan on seeing it between Christmas and new year with my seven year old daughter in good seats and a bit less frenzied setting

The only things that really got me jazzed about that trailer was the John Williams score and Harrison Ford.

It certainly looks a lot better than the prequels, though it also seems to think that its cool to throw as much shit as you can on the screen, which is a mistake the prequels made over and over.

You weren't being subtle or smart.

What are you talking about? What he posted is an obvious bit of speculation you can gather from the trailer. The voice overs and clips lead us to believe it's talking about Finn.....then you get the bait and switch in full effect. This makes sense and I thought the same from the trailer as well....

Yup. The one thing I can't stand are people trying to be funny by shouting or talking back during the movie in a theater.

I'm flying to Japan on release day so I have no choice. I might try and watch Japan

I'd say go with the traditional way (Original trilogy than the Prequels). George Lucas is not a good director thus the prequels suffer quiet a lot (direction, dialogues, cinematography, overuse/bad usage of CGI...) even though he directed the very first star wars movie in '77.

Watch the original trilogy (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi).

I don't think there's a compelling reason to watch the prequels.

I've been purposely avoiding any news on this movie (want to be pleasantly surprised when I see it), but damn if that trailer didn't get me HYPED AS FUCK.

Anyone know if Lando is gonna be in it? I know folks were questioning Luke's absence in the trailer, but I'd to know if Lando will be making an appearance in any of the upcoming Star Wars films.
