GAF, how much do you make?

That should be an extra 20-30k, no?

Considering all the extra shit I do outside of my job description, probably...also have been here over eight years (earning my degree in the process). Outside of the work being generally unchallenging right now, my current pay is a big reason why I'm changing fields.

This thread doesn't take into account location and job market of said location. My job would make me 20-30k more a year if I lived in a major city. However I could be making much less in a rural area/small company.

I make around 10k€ a year. 23yo Uni. student so I get around 500€/ month study grant for 9 months. During summer I go to work where I get around 1500€/ month for 3-4 months.

34 years old. 56k. Programmer.

I've been making this for the past 4 years. I need to look around for something that pays more but I hate job interviews so much.

Last job I was at, around 200k AUD before tax but it was in the industrial construction sector where being grossly overpaid is the norm. Which is probably why our manufacturing and resource industry is going down the shitter as we basically price ourselves out of the market. The hours are long but you aren't exactly working hard.

I've never experienced anything else like it in my life; getting paid so much to do so little. The hardest part of the job is staying awake and avoiding boredom. That sort of work is unusual though, it's not always there, after all the big plants are built, you either have to move with the work or live on-site and fly in fly out (FIFO). But that sort of work is slowing down as we are just pricing ourselves out of that sort of market now.

Had to leave because I was getting crazy panic attacks so I have no real belief I could make that again, but currently looking at a job around 80k a year starting rate no experience with room to grow back into 6 figures. Another job I was very surprised at the pay rate considering again, no experience or extra education or tuition required.

I feel like we do this thread like once every year.

It's so year dependant on the revenue I generate.

Basic salary £45k but Commission £170K. (which is 331k is USD)

I'm a headhunter (applied research) and 26.

Work looking after gas/oil trading software. 30 years old ( Still see myself as really young but when you make me write it, it hits home how I'm getting old !)

UK Salary £90,000 ( including overtime & bonus ) translates to $138,597
Sounds much better in american money.

33k per year as a teacher.

Should be making about 40k in a few years.

Kind of sucks, but at least my state has a very good pension for teachers.

€ 144K per year.

My personal holding receives € 12K per month as management fee.
I wage myself for € 6000 per month as income.

Starting 2016 will be receiving € 15K per month.

40k per year at 33. Currently looking for new work as upward mobility has dried up here and it shit seems to constantly be hitting the fan.

Just over 50k

I'm 39. Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering, 15 years experience.

Yep, you read that right. Because state employees don't deserve to be paid what they are worth, despite court rulings that pay shall be commensurate with education and experience.

Nothing, since I had to quit my job earlier this year due to health reasons.

My husband makes around 50k a year climbing wind turbines.

Which is apparently not enough for a family of five + expensive medical problems.

I don't think you could pay me enough to do that, especially with my panic attacks lol.

Got some ballers here on gaf.

Oil & Gas mate. Guaranteed money.

90K before yearly bonus.

30 and work in cyber security.

4 years ago i was making minimum wage in retail...met the lady that would eventually become my wife and decided to stop fucking around. pretty happy with my progress so far.

He keeps sending me pictures from the top of the turbines with his legs hanging off. He knows it bothers me and it gets him a good chuckle when I reply with 'plz don't die kthx'

Yeh screw that. Just doesn't seem to worry some people, I'll keep my feet in the ground thanks. I used to get freaked out by the cage elevators we took on worksite, stuff something like that for a living.

30. 70k/year, Multimedia Director. Together with my wife we bring in a little over $110k/year, she's works in insurance and bonds.

I had a goal of 100k by 30, I guess I achieved that when looking at us as a family, but I'm still a bit disappointed with my progress. My first job out of college (24yr old) as a designer 1 I was pulling in 32k a year. in 6 years I've over doubled my salary and progressed very far, but I'm starting to hit the ceiling for my specific job title. I'm actually considering making a jump into accounting.

They key to income growth for me has been being super bullish about raises. Every year I negotiated a raise of a minimum of 5k, the one year I didnt get it (because no one got raises that year) I switched jobs and moved (and got a 10k raise from that). I always brought hard data to my reviews and showed what I made the company (easy when you are working in an ad agency) and made my self hard to replace (specializing your skills and making sure the department moves in a direction that is tied to them helps a lot).

I make about 10 - 15k a year with freelance, but I never consider that true income, more just vacation/entrainment fund stuff.

I was thinking the average seemed low. I guess living in NYC will mess with your perspective though.

It really does. My wife and I live in a small rural town where her work is right across the street, and I'm 15 minutes away from my job. Cost of living is extremely low and we live very comfortably off our combined income.

Our combined income in somewhere like NYC or SF would put us in the poor house, I'm sure.
