Fallout 4 - Reviews thread

I don't know if I remember it incorrectly, but I actually noticed reviewers mentioning technical issues only fairly recently.
I can't say that I read or heard it that much when the big games for PS3 got released. And those had technical issues, too.

Nah, I don't remember them getting mentioned back then.

I love that account.

that was awful to listen to, not because of what he said, just the noises and the extended periods of him not talking and just hearing the road
It's unedited Gerstmann in his car baby.

Literally just him driving and sometimes talking. And sometimes going to the gas station. I've always found it weirdly entertaining.

It's not supposed to be official content or anything edited. He just does it from time to time. He will probably repeat all of this on the Bombcast.

holy fuck, I just watched the gamespot review on youtube and the comments... oh man, the comments. This game really brought out the angry 13 year old demographic. I don't understand being angry if someone likes a game. I thought we had moved past that shit.

Equal parts 13 year old and 33 year old on nma/codex

I'd like for fallout 4 to settle at an 89.

Just a glancing blow that'll maybe wake up Bethesda about bugs/engine issues. Probably won't and still end up a 93 game.

We will never get past that shit.

People will get mad/intolerant on the internet/youtube.

It's sad.

Probably would need to sit low 80's for them to even care.

I'd actually like to know what it is people like so much about these games. I played Skyrim for about 80 hours according to steam, and in hindsight, I couldn't remember any of part of the game standing out and making the game worth the several dozen times the game crashed and burned. It wasn't so much "bad" aside from that, more just straight-up dull.

Well, if you played for 80 hours, you should know in hindsight some of the reasons of why you played it so many hours. Surely if it was all bad, you would have stopped before. But there was something that made you play.

Unless I'm mistaken it's the same engine as Skyrim only with slight improvements to lighting and maybe character animation. Bethesda tends to use Elder Scrolls as their showcase for brand new versions of engines.

They haven't been doing Fallout and Elder Scrolls games for enough time to discern a pattern. They literally have made before a single (1) non-Elder Scrolls game: Fallout 3.

A lot of the negative replies in this thread revolve around technical issues. Some reviews report that there are bugs or frame drops but they still loved the game -- And that, according to some in this thread, is not valid. You aren't allowed to love a game if it has any technical issues.

It's not that you aren't allowed to love the game, but that the game's score should have perhaps reflected those problems more than it did, and in some of these high 9 reviews there just seems to be a disconnect.

A lot of people will say that technical issues and graphics don't affect their enjoyment of the game, but I don't think that's entirely true. When you start F4, you might not be blown away by the graphics or you might notice framerate problems etc., but most players adapt to the game and continue to play. By the end of the game it's probably not even on your mind anymore, *but* that doesn't mean that the problems don't exist in the first place, or that you wouldn't have enjoyed the game even more if they weren't an issue.

You might have decided that this level of performance is okay, but couldn't it be better than it is? A lot of reviews seem to make that concession that F4 is not a marvel, but only few of them are saying "well at this point I expect more, so I'm not giving this 9.5"

Again, none of that means this can't be your favorite game of all time, it's more of a commentary on reviews I think

I feel like a lot of it was from a bunch of my friends gushing about how good the game was, and me just trying to get to "the good part". Plus a healthy dose of dumb, baseless hype.

That seems to imply that reviewers must think in the latter way, or else it's mistaken/not a valid opinion of the game

So what payment method should I use when I want my money back fast ?

I tried a refund 9 days ago via Paypal, but I still haven't gotten the money back, because the case is still "open".

I want to test the performance on PC.

Steam

No question asked refunds if you've played under two hours
