After way too much consideration, I've settled on the following:

Code:
Strength	2
Perception	4 + 1 early bobble head
Endurance	5 + 1 from S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Book
Charisma	5
Intelligence	8
Agility 1
Luck 3

This will give me a good mix of the character traits I want with one less SPECIAL point from the top perks I want in each SPECIAL that I'll get access to via a bobble heads. I'm going to be playing a fast leveling, high-enduring, high carry weight "Lone Wanderer", with excellent lockpicking, hacking and lazer rifle modding. :)

Trying my best not to purchase this game right now is the equivalent of trying to stave off this

Quick question, just pre-ordered the game on PSN and it did an initial download of +4 gigs. It is now downloading a 32 gig file. Will I be playing this in 1.5 hours or am I awaiting the download of the 32 gig file?

I've been playing for 3 hours after unlocking from a Poland VPN. Just met the Minutemen. Like I expected, it's like Fallout 3 but better. Once you exit the vault the graphics in the nearby towns really shines. Played on PC at high settings with a 280X, i5 2500, and 8 GB - performance is fine but could be better. Strong drops when looking at lots of stuff like from the Concord rooftops. As for the gameplay, I took my sweet time exploring all over Sunnyvale and Concord to find useful stuff. I love the classical music radio - Blue Danube! The gunplay and weapon variety are good even though I've just gotten a taste of it. Sawed off shotgun is my favorite right now. On hard difficulty you do take a lot of damage out in the open but raiders are easy if you're agile and smart and upgrade your armor. I don't get the settlement workstations at all but I guess it doesn't matter early on. M&KB controls are okay with the exception of favorites and everything else that uses arrow keys - that's the first thing I want to see modded. Dialogue and mocap? Well, it's mediocre but not absurdly poor. Verdict: damn good and fun.

They've done a good job of making thew old standby monsters and whatnot unique. In previous games it was basically just they either charged you blindly or shot at you a bit and little else. Now even frigging encounters with molerats are tense with their burrowing abilities.

And also just my pants scared off me by my first encounter with a surprise radscorpion.

Just got back from working the midnight launch. Unbelievably busy, busiest midnight since the 360/Ps3 release of GTA V.

Love seeing how excited people were to get there hands on this, it's my turn tomorrow :D

Damn just got home from class and saw my fallout 4 copy is here from best buy( love them BTW i always get games 5-6 hours early before midnighters) but yo these install time is crazy on ps4. You guys who have the game had to sit through this install too?
It's cool they show you movie while you wait.

Sooo, my dog is not with me, and I didn't notice until an hour ago, does anyone know if that is normal? I dont want my Doge to die :(

On PC is around 20 min.

Happened to me too. He'll show up for a quest soon. There's a story quest they respawns him right near you. Idk if that's intentional or not (to have him go missing a few hours before), but thank god the quest did that or else I never would've found him

Does anyone know if the version of the game that comes with the Pipboy edition is just the same as the off-the-shelf version? I'm talking about the case it comes in - do they both have the same UPC code? I have a friend whose Pipboy edition won't be shipping for a week so they're thinking about buying a copy off the shelf and then returning the sealed version of the game that comes with the Pipboy edition when it finally arrives.

I'm doing sidequests ATM, he'll be lost for a while then, lol.

Thanks man.

It comes with a steel book so no.

Xbox one performance isn't as bad as I had feared. A few noticeable drops every so often, but other than that I'm really quite happy with it- definitely running much smoother than any other Bethesda game I've played on consoles.

Not sure if this is a bug but I'm asked to build up defenses for the settlement and, despite, placing three guard posts, it isn't registering that on my defense level.

Thanks for the impressions. My friend is going to be playing on XB1 and I'm sure he'll be happy to know. My PS4 copy unlocks soon. Time to get some snacks. It's going to be a long night.

I took tomorrow off from work to play. :D

A query: how would you guys describe the quest design of this particular Fallout? Massively branching, like The Witcher 3? Plenty of skillchecks (Like Shadowrun DF/HK)?

My thoughts after a few hours with the PC version: holy shit this game is janky. It doesn't leave a good first impression at all. It feels like a game straight out of 2007.

Anyone else have issues with some commands or subtitles staying on the screen/not updating on PC version? I have every subtitle option set to on..wondering if something is bugged.

Otherwise, game is immediately captivating so far and I am having a great time. Aiming/ shooting is SO much better and I think I will really enjoy the new perk system. Game runs great on my PC too. It's not the most visually stunning game but it looks like there's a lot of post processing going on that helps make things look good.

Thanks - appreciate the info.

Man, I live in MA and it is really weird seeing all these town names all over this game.

Heh, I live in the DC area and that was one of the best things about FO3 and why I'll always love it more than FONV. Glad that MA peeps get to experience the unique sensation of running across the post-apocalyptic version of their hometowns.

How does the Pip Boy App work? I unlocked with VPN so I'm offline, I guess you need to be online to get the App to sync with the game? I can't get it to detect.

Anyone using the App with the game with success? Is it easy to get it to detect?

You have to enable it in the settings then restart your game for it to work. It just uses your local network.

What is it that powers the suit? And can I find or craft more? Not far past the factory, just building up a house at sanctuary.
unwittingly scrapped my baby's crib
jesus this game is good.

So Amazon went about shipping my copy in a sort of ass backwards way. It went from an Amazon facility in Chattanooga via USPS, to another Amazon facility in Atlanta. Then I guess it's going back into the mail system to be delivered to me tomorrow? Is this something they do to prevent pre-orders from arriving early? Or some kind of cost saving measure to ship it quickly? Is this common with them?

It still says it's arriving tomorrow so I'm not really concerned, just seems kind of weird to ship it between Amazon facilities before getting it out to me.

Going to try to pick this up from redbox at midnight after I close up at work! I won't get my copy from UPS til after 6pm tomorrow which is when I go in.
