Yeah, the texture work may not be impressive but I'm floored by the overall package. When you're not staring at the details and simply walking through the world this game is gorgeous.

It looks great with certain combinations of weather and time of day, mostly around sunrise/sunset.

I don't like that you can't tell if it's a friendly npc or an idle enemy, I miss the green markers in the compass.

Also ghouls are more like zombies than they've ever been, they swarm something fierce.

compared to the previous games, the look is massively improved, especially the lighting.

just use VATS

Another question/remark. You can't just take off upgrades from one weapon and slap 'em on another, can you? I'm saving up several upgraded pistols and rifles I found and the only thing I can do is scrap 'em.

With all this talk, I guess it's time to give Cods a trial run, but man...Dogmeat looks awesome with kick ass skull bandana and goggles!

The
cave
underneath the Red Rocket Truck Stop is hilarious.

There's an item that's beside a bunch of dumped radioactive waste in it,
it's an award for being good to the environment,
rofl.

Even more funny because when you explore the terminal in the Truck Stop you read how
they chose to dump the waste underground.

Small side stories like this are what make this game even more amazing. Wow.

Just started playing last night, I can see why people criticize the graphics now (in particular the character models imo), but the game still looks pretty great. One thing that I don't like so far is how they recycled songs from Fallout 3, which would make sense in the grand scheme of things in the wasteland I guess, but it just seems lazy to me.

On an unrelated note though, can anyone reccomend a decent usb wifi adapter? My desktop computer isn't connected through wifi, so I can't really use my pip-boy :/

So i'm not missremembering then. Thought that the reason I could remember a lot of the songs was because they must've been in the radio mods I got for FO3 and NV.

You can if it's the same type of gun (say you had a bunch of upgrades on a laser rifle, then found a new legendary laser rifle, you can switch the mods over by taking them all off the first one and adding them to the second). The game doesn't give you any indication this is happening except that you'll notice your scrap counts don't go down when you add the upgrade.

And one last weird thing I noticed: I can't get my health to max. My HP max is 171. Just went to the doctor and got my rads/health restored and it's still stuck at 170/171.

That health bar is gonna burn into my monitor at this rate. :'(

How do you take them off?

It's looking like it. It's going to drive my settlement OCD nuts but oh well.
If you're playing on PC, open the console, click on any object and type "disable".
If you clicked on something else by mistake you can bring it back with "enable".

Edit: it should also work for grass clipping through shit. It did in Skyrim.

So I figured out if I throw my junk on the ground at say sanctuary then go into building mode I can scrap it directly to components making my workshop inventory nice and tidy >.>

Yes, I have spent hours just building things... which is the next point lol

I'm sitting there scrapping and it gets dark, and there's a storm but it looked evil and green, then my rads started going up I was scared and noticed the green radiation lightning was doing it.

The next morning it was so foggy I couldn't see 10 feet in front of me and I got rekt by some giant mole things lol

This game is so good!

Started it up last night and absolutely love it so far.

It's my first fallout game everything is new to me.

I agree with the character models being poor but I think the setting and locations look wonderful.

That's a weird bug. Perhaps an internal rounding issue? Hopefully levelling up would fix that.

Aw.... the mystery stranger triggered when I aimed at a legendary Super Mutant and killed it.

Then I got killed before I could grab the loot X_X

Just been messing around in Diamond City. This game has something that the Witcher 3 lacked. Something that makes me want to explore and take in the world. It's super addictive.

Yeah. I spent hours there just watching people doing their stuff. For example: when the clerks close down their shops they meet in front of the inn and sit together and drink.

Change the part to the standard option (you might still have to manufacture this if you don't have any in stock, but it will most likely still be the cheaper option.

Yep I see (hear) that my name isn't voiced for sure.

Also this pip boy companion app is great. I had to find an old USB wifi adapter and use a program to turn that into a hot spot. Worked after that.

Is it me or is the map really small ?? Is there enough stuff to do??

I would not say "really" small but yes its smaller than F3 and FNV, but way more dense, you will stumble upon location after location. Its a different approach than in both its predecessors, I like it. Theres enough stuff to do trust me...

I was soooo stupid skipping all those wonderglue and duck tapes all this time. And I need them badly for the adhesives now.
Don't follow my mistake, gaf.

OH MY GOD, IT HAPPENED AGAIN.

Time to pack up from Red Rocket Station and go settle somewhere else. :lol

ROFL Dogmeat taking one for the team.

Sometimes he's funny, like when I tell him to sit and close all the doors @ Red Rocket so I can sleep in peace, yet he still moves and opens them all.

Loot. Everything.

So uh, I wanna play as a lady, honestly hate the dudes voice, but I'm 10 hours in already.

If I use the console to change my sex will that just straight fuck my shit up? Will the right perks swap and will my voice change?

well those are BOTH rookie mistakes. you should mainly be looking at the weight versus value ratio. the more something is worth compared to its weight, the more useful it will be. if you just pick everything up you'll constantly become over encumbered.

it's duct tape, btw

I would go crazy having to go back to my base every 2 minutes :/

I don't find it too bad, helps I'm really into building settlements :P

Plus the companion can carry a lot I find.

Def, I don't grab like 100 empty cup :p

How do I establish trade between my settlements? It's kinda annoying that I can't access my goodies from all of them. I tried assigning a settler to the workshop but that didn't work.

The problem is a lot of "newbie Fallout 4" guides are telling people to constantly gather resources.

It's a bit pointless because (most) mats are quite easy to come by, the world is full of the shit.

This game looks like more Fallout 3 with slightly upgraded graphics and a couple of new side activities. Looks like they didn't truly fix the problems their games have had ever since Morrowind (which is still the best Bethesda game). Looks like the quests, characters and dialogue are similarly unengaging, the combat still not as good as it should be, animation still bad, exploration and world building still the big saving grace. This is what it looks like. Right or wrong GAF?

This, coupled with the massive reduction in player determination (Mass Effect dialog, no skill points, being able to add to SPECIAL, ~90% predefined character, etc) makes this game not an RPG. Not to me at least. Its more like Far Cry 3/4 with branching dialog. Its a shooter with a skill tree, not an RPG shooter.

i'm not that into the base building stuff.

And I also don't use a companion since I play bethesda games as a low strength stealth type character.

So basically, inventory management is the most cumbersome part of the game for me :P

If you are looking at the pip boy map, it makes it seem smaller since the scale is kind of off. The game world is a lot larger than it seems, I'm not sure if smaller or larger than Fo3/F:NV since I haven't explored that much but Todd Howard said it's roughly the same size as Skyrim. Yes there is more than enough stuff to do, more so than the other games. It's a lot more dense and stuff. Most fun I've had exploring in a Fallout game. One thing they 100% nailed again is the exploration/adventuring. If you're worried about that don't be, I think it's the best they've done so far.

So glad I didn't buy it :)

It's totally random. He could visit every single vendor in the game and none could have silenced weapons.

Or he could find a shitty silenced gun, like a silenced pipe pistol. In which case it doesn't help him at all.

Every character will eventually want to pick up perks for modding their own guns. If you're going to depend on vendors you're in for a looong search to find a perfectly modded weapon of the kind you want for sale.
This is wrong, both vendors and certain locations always have certain weapons and items. There are some that are randomly generated, but a large portion of them are pre-generated. I've found many items consistently from vendors through restarts while trying to pick out a playstyle.

No, you will not be able to get a "perfect" gun from the vendors or random locations, but if you need a weapon to start with, such as a weapon to help with a stealth run of the game, certain vendors and locations consistently have them.
