Minor complaint. Why oh why did they start you in the very corner of the map?

My favorite thing to do in FO or Elder Scrolls game is to randomly spin my character around after the prologue and just walk in whatever direction because you know you will find something to do.

They kind of forced my hand on what direction I'm going.

Also, from just playing a few hours and seeing a few locations. does this map feel smaller than in the past? I felt like I traveled for a few minutes and found a location that 1/5 the way down the map, like I could have gotten across the whole map in less than ten minutes.

Mods are not yet available right? I'm talking about the mods that use some sort of tool provided by Bethesda

Are they using the Creation Kit they used for Skyrim? Any ETA for that?

Guys, what do you recommend I improve with that first SPECIAL book?

Wqait what are SPECIAL books? I'm lost. I've gotten a couple of important looking magazines and one Vault Boy. Is it different tthan other gameS?

hmm anyone happened to run into this random building called med-tek research? it has a bunch of ghouls inside, and then a terminal that needs a password.

Jacob's password. Ironically I have a jacob's password from another location, but it doesnt work (they really should use different names). Anyone knows where it is by any chance?

Hi all. I'm level 7 and getting my ass kicked in most directions. I'm using a sawn off shotgun, the energy gun and my pistol. Sentry bots are a nightmare and I seem to die really easy :-(

I'm on normal but close to turning it down...

Is there any good armour I can get? Better guns? Any help would be fantastic.

What color HUD & Pip-Boy did you folks go with?

I slid all the sliders to the end and made white. Not only does it look sleek, but the flashlight doesn't have a color tint and acts like a real flashlight.

Why can't I build anything even though my quests require me to do so and I have plenty of materials? Beds and basic stuff like that?

int
uh
int gets you an exp boost anyways, so go for that

Anyone have the numbers?

People say it's not much, like 3% per point.

I know, but I want idiot savant perk :P

I've read that there's a 10% chance of idiot savant activating, -1% per point of int you have. So you could have a little int for some of the early perks without losing out too much.

Gun Nut sounds quite important. Me personally, I'm going with 4 int so I can hack too, and will still get Idiot Savant anyway.

Armorer is probably a good perk to have and it requires 3 Str.

Can you scrap clothes?
You can drop them in a settlement, go into build mode and scrap them that way. Just make sure you remove the mods first. I found if you just transfer them to a workbench they don't automatically get scrapped when you need the materials.

One you initiate the "build" mode you should see the bar at the bottom. Select bed from furniture and find a place to make it. Make sure you have the stuff needed to build and that you are in a buildable area. The item you want to make shows up and when it turns yellow you can place it there. Sometimes I would forget to enter build mode.

Oh yeah, how do I wire my shit up? One of my quests requires me to build and activate a beacon but I can't bring the electricity to it even it is right next to the generator.

Select the generator press "space" to wire it and than select the thing you want to power.

How do I assign settlers to things like guard posts? Built one close to the wooden bridge and can't figure out why no one will man it.

Where can I get a quest line that doesn't make me build settlements? I like Preston, but I don't have a fuck to give about picking tatos and collecting pocket watches for the well being of these shitty NPCs.

When looking at generator you hit triangle. This attached a wire. Then you drag to your power pole and connect using triangle again. Or whatever the top button is on xbox.

Is building and adding shit to the settlement worth it? I find it really, really boring.

I hated it at first but now it consumes my time. Coming back to Sanctuary and seeing it bustle with settlers and knowing that I created that is awesome. I've got some raised platforms and bridges between them and its looking badass. There is this amazing settlement you find later in the game that is very unique and fun to build around.

I've made the Red Rocket Truck stop my personal base, and I send all my companions there. I figured out that if you build a staircase to the roof you can get a whole new surface to expand upon. I built a lookout tower up there.

Ultimately it's not really necessary, but if you put some creativity into it it can be pretty rewarding. Coming back to a base that I've built and that I can continue expanding upon is a pretty awesome feeling.

PS: don't spend so much time on building up Sanctuary if you don't want to. It's not the coolest spot.

In the building menu go to the settler and "select" him (left mouse) than go to the post and assign him.

Thank you! Couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Love this game so far. Although I wasted about thirty Stimpaks trying to complete the
Freedom Trail
. That's my favorite quest so far. Very cool twists and turns. Just don't walk in the middle of the pond in
Boston Common
. Made that mistake.

Diamond City and the brotherhood of steel should give you some other stuff!

Put a couple of hours into the game, and just curious if I'm starting to venture too far out for my level. Regarding the Brotherhood of Steel quest "Call to Arms" (literally the second quest you get from them)

I made it through the mission, but this was largely by just letting Danse walk ahead of me and shoot everything. If I tried to step in and help out in any meaningful way I got worked over by the laser rifles from the synths almost immediately. I'm around level 7 or 8, with your basic armor/guns so far. Very minimal crafting to upgrade/mod that stuff.

My question is if this was the way the mission was supposed to play out, or am I really underleveled/geared for this part of the map?

If it helps,
I was just following the main path to go to Diamond City for the first time. So I figured anything I encountered on the way was intentional and most likely level appropriate from coming from Concord.

I'm level 10 and I haven't finished the first quest yet :(
