That's no excuse. They can and should be doing better.
I'm a Destiny player too. And that would be awful for this game. That would feel way to unrealistic and just not feel right.

I think the combat is the perfect blend of realistic and usable. Coming in expecting Destiny is a mistake.

What does the + sign mean next to a weapon? Is it when you already have that exact weapon in your inventory? Not sure if I've identified the pattern.

I think it means it's an improvement in stats over what you have currently but I could be wrong

Combat is fine, even compared to other FPS and this is from someone who's played a lot of Destiny.

What is it that's bothering you? The high recoil of certain weapons or aiming sensitivity? I can pick headshots and shoot with ease, I really can't understand the complaints here.

Really liking this so far. Have made it to Diamond City and started some of the missions that spring up from there. Where is the easiest place to find ceramic? I had to stop the radio beacon building mission for now, because I was missing one damn thing.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the amount of legendary enemies on Normal. Now that I can actually face them. Getting loot from them is awesome.
Got a laser musket that poisons enemies.

Break down toilets bathtubs. Should've been plenty at sanctuary.

Correct. Plus means it is an overall improvement but it is kind of a moot point for weapons since there are several factors to consider as well.

What is the best companion in the game?

I asked this yesterday, but I didn't get an answer, so I'm gonna ask again.
I'm playing on PC with my PS4 controller. Is there a way to display the PS4 button prompts instead of Xbox One prompts?

They have done better, loads better than similar RPGs, expecting Destiny gunplay out of a proper RPG is silly. They have different mechanical priorities.

But I'm not expecting Destiny. This is like bottom of the barrel and Destiny is somewhere at the top. Surely they can go higher than what they have currently.

Seeing you guys defend mediocrity is the reason why this game, as enjoyable as it is, is basically Fallout 3 with a slightly prettier coat of paint.

I just want major improvements to the core gameplay. Why don't you?

No, but I would suggest a mod is coming for that

12 hours in and I haven't even gotten close to Diamond (???) City. All I want to do is play more but I have to go to bed :(

Seriously fantastic game.
Yeah time flies by when I play this. Every time I look at my clock it's hours later than the last time, and then I think about what I've done in game, and I've barely done anything lol. I love it.

How do weapons work with companions? I heard their default weapons have unlimited ammo so what happens if you equip them with one of your weapons?
Id like to know this too, i tried giving them a gun and made them equip it with triangle and they carry it but as soon as combat starts they go back to using their own gun. Do they need ammo aswell?

I feel like the core gameplay has improved quite a bit. I hardly use VATS in Fallout 4 whereas I felt like I was forced to use it in Fallout 3. The shooting feels great.

i'm running low on energy cells, shells and 10mm ammo. of course i have 2000 of the stupid pipe gun shit

Yep. This is the first fallout game where I'm actually hurting for ammo after playing for awhile.

Something cool I've noticed. Raiders will write stuff in their terminals about other raiders you've killed.

Roadblock with my construction plans because of copper, so I set out for Diamond City

You can't take the highway, but it does look nice

Of course, I ran into some stuff on the way so I won't be seeing the city tonight.

Where can I find copper??

I think in terms of gun handling, sound design, the way the weapon models look and feel, it's vastly superior to 3 & NV, I'm personally having absurd amounts of fun with the combat, -- I don't even feel the need to say it plays well "for an RPG", it's just fun & satisfying.

If you don't think there have been major improvements to the gameplay between 3 and 4 then you have to be playing a different game. It is obvious to me. The gunplay seriously feels like Rage which wasn't bad at all.

Yep, it's my single player GOTY for sure. I have to divide single and multiplayer because I'm still keen on giving Rocket League plenty of justice. But Fallout 4 is just sensational.

I'm there every thirty minutes to pile loads of stuff into a random dresser drawer, so I'll know what to do next time. Thanks!

I think I'm going to focus on ranking up Lone Wanderer, Toughness, Life Giver, and Medic so I can wear whatever I want without worrying about the repercussions of low health stats. I'm a very fashion over function person and the Metal armor pieces are cramping my style, but they're kind of necessary currently.

Question from Using an Xbox One controller and playing on a PC.

How in the world do you screenshot with Steam?! Normally it's F12 but for some reason that doesn't work. It told me at one point when I tried Big Picture, the controller home button + R2, and that didn't work. It also said Windows + alt + print screen, and that doesn't work either.

Now I can push the Xbox Button, and then hover to screenshot and it takes it, but it saves it to Windows and not steam...

I stumbled across the Fens Street Sewer and inside a found a
Detective Holotape which seems to be a serial killer taunting a detective. I've managed to find up to tape 4, but then it seems to hit a dead end...
Has anyone got any tips?

Yes, it's way better than 3 & NV.
I had to use VATS (almost) all the time in the previous games while I barely use it in Fallout 4. That explains a lot.

I'm only using the 360 one, and I use antimicro app to take screens with Steam.
Set the home button to F12 and you can take screens anytime with it.

I think you should probably load a save before that and come back later. That's my suspicion anyway.

I'm not going back through 164 pages, but has anyone else noticed when they put the Pipboy app into Local Map view, the game graphics will stutter about once every second when you're moving?

I'm on PS4, and it doesn't matter if I run the Pipboy app from my Galaxy S5 or my iPad 2 - if I have the map in World view, there's no issue. When I switch it to local view, turning or moving will make the graphics pause about once every second. This makes local map view impossible to use.

I'd love to know if this happens on every platform, or only on the PS4?

Yep, I feel ya hear. Add to that the diversity of the weapons and how the modifications directly effect gameplay, makes for a great shooting experience regardless of genre but especially so when compared to other shooty bang RPGs.

What don't you like about the gunplay?

I'm over 10 hours in and still haven't gone to Diamond City. I thought Metal Gear might be my game of the year but I'm feeling very confident Fallout's taken that.

Man, I'm having so much trouble acquiring Adhesive. It's a serious bottleneck. Anyone have ideas on that?

Wonderglue? Start exploring buildings.

*hears noise*

"what was that?"

*goes outside and sees nothing.*

*goes back inside*

*hears someone dying* Jeeze what now??

*goes outside and immediately and desperately look through my inventory in fear*

So much truth in this post. This game can be fucking scary when it wants to be. It almost reminds me of STALKER

*ground shakes and out of the water comes a giant legendary super mutant*
._.

oh wait there's a shack that I can hide in and pot shot it. Muhahah

Apparently you can make your your own adhesive by cooking Vegetable Starch with Corn, Tato, Muttfruit, and Purified Water. Haven't tried it yet though.

Anyone else hoping for a mod that adds
all the extra hairstyles, face paints, and grime options from the wasteland
to the character creation at the start of the game?

Ok so had my fist serious drop in framerate last night, and i have to say the moments we're very sporadic and last very briefly and in no way was my aiming or anthing like that affected. This after around 10hrs of play. I actually feel Bethesda's done a good job here all things considered.
