OOOHHHHHHH so THATS how you see which item in the settlement your townsfolk are assigned to.

In the creation mode, when you highlight a settler in your settlement(put the cursor on them), all the items they are assigned to will also be highlighted on the screen.

Also, in creation mode, when you highlight an item that requires someone to be assigned to it, look at the vaultboy icon. if its white, then that means someone is assigned to it. if its red, no one is assigned to it.

So just did the opening mission, back at sanctuary, power armor almost depleted, how do I get out of this armor and where is a safe place to store it?

What's the point of mentats? Without a skill system I'm finding a lot of these temp buffs pointless.

Strength at least lets you carry a little bit more and could let you fast travel when overloaded, but what is +INT gonna do? Tiny xp buff? In FO3/NV could use it to maybe reach enough science to hack a computer or something.
Probably nothing. The only thing I create is bufftats or whatever they are called for an easy +5 CHA and 10% better prices. Makes any charisma check uber easy (along with my nice Black Suit which gives +2CHA and a base CHA of 6 I get to 13 CHA).

The only other drug I use is Psycho. +25% damage and +25 dmg resist? Gimme! Tho, I only ever used it once. I don't think I will need it anymore. I'm pretty OP at level 25, mainly due to my awesome legendary sniper rifle. I one shot everything. Even legendaries (with a crit headshot).

So I just found a set of power armor
in the woods near USAF Satellite Station Olivia right next to a downed vertibird
. Is there a fusion core nearby or do I need to come back later with one?

There's a yellow, little crane-thingy in the Red Rocket to store PAs. You can also find one in your sanctuary, in your main workshop building.

I apparently failed some defend settlement mission. I have no idea how, I just saw the notification popup that I failed it. Have I now missed out on any sidequests and stuff barbecue of that?

So Covenant quest line...

Who chose what?

Spoilers for Covenant quest!

I let the girl escape...but I just had to know so I saved my game and then killed her. Synth. Still don't regret my decision...at least not yet.

I loved that quest.

I stuck with Dan and eliminated the scientist and her crones. I actually managed to talk her main lackey into letting me in, which led to around a dozen guards (who all sound like Garrus Vakarian of course) questioning his logic. Then we fought our way out and I let the girl go. Synth or not, whatev. Returned to Covenant and everyone was hostile. It's a ghost town now.

How do I earn money from my settlement? I put a food store and a clothes store in the middle and assigned two people to it, but I get no indication its earning any money. Even checking their inventory shows no money.

Is a stealth sniper build any good?? Please help I'm bouta start.

Yes, as long as you're OK with playing the game a little slower. Get the ninja perk and go high on Perception. Combine those with Rifleman and Bloody Mess early and you will be OP. Gun Nut is also key for building great sniper rifles. Make sure to have a good shotgun for close encounters, as ghouls will fucking bum rush in this game.

I've been playing with this build and loving it.

So, JoeBoy's Pro & Con for today:

Pro - Settlement Building

First off, its completely optional so people can ignore it. Always a plus. But should you decide to use it...

And what makes it even more brilliant than simple construction is how all the junk and vendor fodder suddenly has maddening purpose (more adhesive anyone?). People's time is being annihilated by this feature of the game, and they haven't even gotten going on the main quest.

And this lightly touching the management side of assigning tasks to settlers, growing crops, working power networks, etc. I doubt this feature could translate well to Elder Scrolls, with the exception of building a player's home piece-by-piece. Which they BETTER do. The settlement feature suits the world of Fallout perfectly and I hope they expand on it more.

What the actual bloody fuck are those o_O

I literally just put two turrets on the ground, lol, and yet people make all these crazy mad-max fortress kind of stuff O_O

So I tried to set up a little bar in one of my settlements but it's... impossible? I dropped some bottle of hooch from my inventory but they all fell to the ground and tipped over. Is there a way to like reset object orientation when carrying it? Otherwise I'm lifting them off the floor, then trying to crush them into a wall such that they up facing up, which will take way too long.

Any tips for placing little objects the way you want?

Xbox One btw.

The more I play this game the more I realize reviewers lack integrity. This is the worse running PC game I've ever played. How any one could give this game a very good review is ludicrous. Just clearing college station was a tedious joke due to stutter and up and down framerates.

I love the settlements people are building... I wish they were more functional. I've never actually felt the need to make my settlement secure or even put the beds under a roof for that matter

So with just having gotten the game, can someone explain the settlement building creation thinghy to me? Do I need a certain progression etc.

Haha, I really enjoyed it too. I wondered what would happen once I headed back to town.

They were pretty damn upset.

I put 4 turrets, I'm better than you at least. :P
Yeah, the settlement is just overwhelming for me. It's a nice addition for those who love that kind of stuff though.

Randomly ran into some dude named Mac out in the middle of nowhere with his own little bar (think of Marcy from Peanuts and her psychiatrist stand). Bad luck for him I was running from a radscorpion and he decided to get involved and instantly died. Hope he didn't have a quest.

It runs butter smooth on my end on everything ultra.

I wish the land around Sanctuary were more flat to accommodate building a little more. Or if you could have some options to manipulate/clear land.

What does the scavenger station that you can build in settlements do?
Good question, I built one some time ago but haven't figured it out.

How do you unlock companion perks? I have Codsworth, Deacon and Preston Garvey as companions, but there perks don't appear in the STAT - Perks section.

I've seen plenty of bugs and hiccups, and it is definitely annoying.

But I personally love it so far.

Man, I am really digging everything about the sound design in this game. The guns all sound nice and meaty (or zappy, as appropriate), the explosions are great, the sound of fire fights in the distance is awesome. The atmospheric music is perfectly tone setting, and the radio stations are perfect, although that has been true for all of the Bethesda era Fallouts.

I just like everything about how this game sounds.

How much of a difference does the black widow perk make? I've got 4 charisma and I'm still failing all these yellow charisma checks.

You can save, select the perk and try. Don't like it, reload. I didn't notice any difference with that perk. It's much better to save and wear on items that increase your charisma people talking.

I think I have played the game for like 15-20 hours or so now (level 18), and get this, I thought the RPG mechanic took a step back in this game because I didn't notice the perk system until now and thought S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is all there is to it. This coupled up with the limited dialogue system made me thing that maybe they just wanted to streamline it.

I usually don't pay attention to tutorial text much unless it's one line, as I figure stuff out on my own. This has got to be the worst case where it took time for me to figure something out.

Maybe you're just unlucky... maybe it was fine for them...??? I never had one problem yet. Sorry you're having issues but buck up... jesus.

Can we talk about Kendall Hospital for a second?
You reach the bottom floor and you're trapped in that tiny area with a giant deathclaw that just bursts out. Biggest moment of regret from exploring I've ever experienced.

I don't have any shops yet but I read that everything (including caps) is deposited into your workshop inventory so you will find it there.

The biggest issue with stealth is that you can't add a suppressor to most guns without the Gun Nut 2 Perk which doesn't unlock until Level 13. So you have to depend on finding a weapon with a silencer already equipped.

a) Most reviews were on console, not PC
b) Not everyone has the same issues. I just played that section a few hours ago and it was smooth for me.

What does the scavenger station that you can build in settlements do?

Like the above- extra random junk will be deposited into your workshop inventory.
