Question on Vault 81:

I went there, kind of explored everything for a while and then left thinking it was kind of boring but still sort of neat. Felt like I missed something, so I looked it up and there's some mission that's triggered when you do a few things. I want to get that mission, and looked up some of the triggers, but they're just not working. For one I'm supposed to see two people talking by the reactor. No matter what time of day I try they aren't there. Next, I'm supposed to find a little girl that wants a can't. No matter what time of day she's not there. Any tips for this?

I explored the entire place and after seeing the Doctor and leaving the Vault, you go back and the quest begins when the Botanist tells you her son is sick...

Talk to the doctor and give him a blood sample aswell

Did that.

It's the other stuff I can't do.

I did, actually, though
I walked like an inch ahead of him during it and he stopped and I couldn't get him to go on from where he was. Is that really going to fuck up the entire line of quests? Not staying directly behind the slow as fuck kid?

The girl is in the classroom. You have to talk to the teacher and she asks you to tell the class a story. Don't make it to blood thirsty and you get Babarian comic. Then after that you can talk to the girl about her cat.

I didn't do that, but did you
give the talk to the class
that gives you
a comic
.

Just got my hands on some new power armor. Check it out, ladies.

All I could think about when I saw this.

I had done that, too.

Never mind, though, I got it to trigger.

I actually did't have to find the cat. I found the girl missing the cat and some dude in the junk place where they barter for stuff. They told me about Austin, and said to go to the doctor's room. Went there and saw the guy talking to the doctors and he told them about the secret door. Still haven't found the cat, though she did give me the quest.

When I first went there the car ran out just as I was coming. In. She didn't give me a quest when I talked to her but after I left I saw the cat near the lake to the west of Diamond City. I went up to it and it had an action button. I pressed it and the cat ran back. Then I went back to the vault and talked to the girl.

I didn't do the tour.
Just fast travel out and come back later. The quest only triggered for me the second time. You can get a quest there from a girl about her missing cat. I assume their idea is, you go out looking for the cat, when you come back shit happened.

I didnt get the cat quest I just left because like you, I also didnt find anything. But someone said there was so I went back looking for this cat quest and the main quest was happening.

And then I randomly found the cat miles away hours later and it was awesome, didnt even have the quest

I feel like i HAVE to use power armor. I have 19 cores at the moment, and all 19 were obtained WHILE I was already using the armor.

I've gotten pretty good at sneaking with power armor though.

My god,
Glowing Sea
. What a fucked up, beautiful, and disturbing location.

They made such a good job of making it this oppressive zone that even tho by now im a literal death god in the wastelands and it still bothers me going there. I have 3 places I discovered there outside the quest objectices that I still havent checked :(

My power armor I had stored at Sanctuary is just, like....gone. Don't know what happened. Not seeing it on map.

Did you unplug the fusion core from the PA?
If not, then somebody must've stolen it. I saw Carla stole mine when I wasn't aware of that, early in the game.

Does anyone know what outfit this is?

ejUslvaM0Ivk.840x0.Vdef9Kkm.jpg

Institute Coarser.

Well not the helmet lol

I was just thinking because I won't be able to have it do relevant damage on much higher enemies.

I still have it at 55 (fully modded obviously). But thats more because I didnt find any other for that ammo. Still does fine if I use it tho (which I rarely do)

Played about ten hours so far, character is level 16. Not doing too many quests outside the main one, but I just
killed the Courser at CIT and showed the chip to the doctor in Goodneighbor.
Thoughts:

+ I like the crafting system. I have a kitted out pipe revolver and a laser pistol that are ripping through enemies quite easily with the Gunslinger perk.

+ Scavenging is addicting. It is most satisfying to pick up economy wonder glue, big packs of duct tape, and surgical/TV dinner trays. I need to find a good source of screws besides desk fans, globes, and toy trucks.

+ The non-human creatures and characters look great; the synths, especially.

- The storytelling seems to be a retread of Fallout 3. Same beats, same lack of involvement in the story outside of "I need you to go here and kill some mans."

- The facial animations on human characters are just not that good. It might be a limitation of the engine, but still: everyone talks like a ventriloquist dummy. The voice acting on some characters (Preston Garvey, holy shit) sounds like a person reading from a page.

- The storyline bosses have been very underwhelming so far. The first big one at the military base,
Kellogg,
was played up to be some kind of tortured soul, just doing what had to be done, but it fell flat, possibly because I had just casually nuked the boss's head off his body. The second big one I remember,
the Courser,
was a simple bullet sponge who was played up to be some sort of next-level challenge.

-Seriously you guys: where are the pants? I ran around pantsless for eight hours and only just recently found some long johns. The full outfits don't allow me to wear my chest armor, so I don't use them.

Question: is there a faster way to scrap all of my junk? I've just been dropping it on the ground and using the workshop menu to scrap each item individually, but that seems really clunky.

Again

You don't scrap junk. The game automatically uses its materials.

You don't need to scrap each of your junk individually. Just store them on your workstation storage, and when you build something, the needed parts will be automatically scrapped from the junk.

But I thought if you scrapped it you get more out of it. Like if it uses a fan for a gear it scraps the fan whereas if you scrap it yourself you will get 2 steel and 2 gears... or am I mistaken.

You are mistaken

Underground Undercover should be the next quest I get from Railroad but I keep getting the same repeatable shitty quests. do I need to finish a specific story quest first in order to get it?

Man i wish i knew about the special/dupe glitch sooner.
Wasted like 10 perks on stats for my build.
and now im too far in to wanna start over.
Meh
ive got 20 more perks to dish out.
