Canadian Gaming "Deals" and Discussion Thread 6: Sorry, We Can't Afford a New Thread

I've never used it, but I think this is what you're looking for.

Another tip is to ship it to your place of employment, if they'll allow it. Being in an office, our company doesn't mind personal deliveries.

My company doesn't really allow it, since our main form of communication is mail and comes in large volume. :(

I have a Canada Post just around the corner and I use Flex from most Canadian retailers + Amazon. Pretty damn handy, I never miss deliveries and get emailed when stuff arrives.

the fuck

Nozaki-kun shipped at 3 PM, got some dude come right now with the delivery. was I supposed to tip the guy? fucking off-topic making me question this shit

I think Amazon accidentally sent me two copies of Battlefront, I plan on calling them tomorrow - will I have to pay to mail it back or something?

lol, you're supposed to tip them? I thought if they aren't delivering food they get nothing.

Aside:

There was a thread earlier today, but friendly reminder that if you bought Tales of Zestiria, today is the last day you can get Alisha DLC for free.

Nah. They'll give you a return label that you can print out. I think some people have said in situations like these they occasionally let you keep the copy out of courtesy BUT check your statements. I got two copies of Tearaway Unfolded shipped but I was also charged twice.

I know, right?

tipping threads on GAF are something else. gotta tip your dentist, bus driver, cashiers, fucking everybody

I'd link you but I can't copypasta. the thread in question is about the same day delivery service Amazon US provides and if you should tip them. they have a page set up where it has a recommended tip before placing the order. cueue GAFfers tipping debate. I don't know, man

I don't think I've ever heard of tipping the mailman before. The hell does that idea even originate from anyway? This is the first I've heard of it. In fact, I've never heard of tipping anyone outside of the pizza guy before.

I actually just go to the pizza place and buy the pie there, and bring it home myself, just because I don't want to go through the tipping shit

Nah people are only tipping for Prime Now iirc, plus they are tipping through amazon which automatically adds a suggested tip. I think we're good here.

Also, unsurprisingly you have excellent taste in manga I got my copy today too

thanks for both ;P

the anime was my fave show last year. how could I not buy the manga <3

Wow. I'm glad Canada Post is desperate. They are basically giving away free PO Box services... but does this mean that you can send UPS or Fedex packages to them?

This is a good way of saving money on Hearthstone packs/adventures for those with an iPhone or iPad btw.
Ah, I didn't even think about that.

.

I looked that up and it looks like no, I questioned that right after I made one and it had no real address at all.

Every time I see this thread is bumped on my subscribed list, I worry that the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition has already sold out on Best Buy's website.

I only worry when the thread goes up a page or two. surefire way to mean I missed something

If only you had a What's App or LINE group to keep you up to speed. That or check this thread religiously for any developments.

$19.99 USD on Battle.net for the newest Adventure = $26.63 CAD

If you try on iOS it's $22.99 CAD. At 15% off it's $19.54 CAD.

So yeah it's 27% cheaper to buy using iOS with gift cards.

Edit: nvm apparently I got charged tax so it came out to $25.75 -.- Still I guess it's $21.89 vs $26.63 so 18% off.

Should I wait for black friday to buy a PS4 or should I buy it now with a 20% discount I have that expires November 20th?

You should tip your food delivery drivers as they get paid below minimum wage to account for tips and they pay gas out of their own pockets. They now also have to deal with people who make fake orders to buildings and try to stab/cut open their pockets to steal their wallets sometimes (you can tell this applies to your driver if they no longer deliver your food to your door but tell you to meet at the lobby). So I don't mind giving them a few dollars if I get my food on time.

Purolator, ups, etc. get paid well for the work that they do so I wouldn't tip them.

Turns out Canada Post HAD delivered Battlefront, but they left it outside my apartment building in the cold and in plain view, despite the package itself saying do not safe drop.

Hm.

Well, in the cold in plain view doesn't sound like a particularly safe drop...

If I were to pre-order Xenoblade X on Amazon right now, would the guaranteed lowest price thingy (at $20) kick in or was that only for people who pre-ordered much earlier?

It only gives you the lowest price between when you order and when it ships, so no you won't get that $20 price unless it happens again somehow. With 2 weeks left I only see one chance (Black Friday) for it to drop by $5 or so, but we'll see.

I liked their FB for an additional 1% off and then had someone try to log in to my FB account from Taipei... had to change my password.

It was a pop up though so maybe it was from some other site, but the promo code they gave me for 1% off worked.

I had someone try to log in to my FB from there this week too, but I've never been to that site. Not sure where they would have gotten my pw from, but there you go.

Still no Battlefront and tracking hasn't even updated since Monday.

2015/11/16 19:58 MISSISSAUGA, ON Shipment received at originating postal facility

At this point I'll just be happy if I get it before the weekend.

Same thing happened to me too a few weeks ago. I don't really use my Facebook account so I don't know where they got my info from.

Heads up guys, can't cancel pre-orders that are 8+ days away from being released (let alone shipped) on Amazon anymore.

Might want to try to talk to someone else unless they just changed this policy in the past few days.

I cancelled my Black Ops 3 pre-order the day before it released.

Has anyone ever successfully combined orders with Amazon? I have an E3 order with 5 titles in it, and another one that has Last Guardian, Ratchet and Clank, and Rainbow Six. I'd like to cancel Rainbow Six and move Last Guardian, and Ratchet and Clank over to the other order, but the customer service dude is telling me that's impossible.

I didn't expecct the Stella Glow box to be so big. Mine was relatively unharmed, but I can see it getting smashed by an overzealous postal worker.

I canceled Battlefront 2 days from shipping. Speak to someone else. I still see games like Gears 4, Recore, Mass Effect Andromeda in my order but never got Battlefront.

I'm pretty sure Amazon reps just make stuff up as they go. I've heard so many conflicting things from them about what is or is not possible as they help or decline to help me.

Again, I remember reading the way digital orders work, it's illegal to combine orders. At best, they should be able to create a new o Der with all the games you have. Because they've already created an invoice. You can edit order to remove items or cancel order, but they can't just add items to an existing order.

Speak to another rep who will just create a new order, add all the discounts and then add the games from the other order and then cancel both the older orders. A new invoice and order number will probably be created.

My experience with Amazon cs is: keep trying until you find someone who can help you.

Also I'm pretty convicted they were full of Bs when they said they would transfer you to their managers, probably they just transferred you to other random cs instead.

Yeah, I canceled my Battlefront pre-order on the 14th and had no issues. I canceled my Fallout 4 pre-order three days before release too.

If this is actually their policy now it's very, very new.
