That seems unlikely.
DON'T YOU TAKE THIS AWAY FROM ME, CLARENCE!
That seems unlikely.
Love statements like that! As far as i know PSNOW is not discontinued and disc support is impossible, since you are streaming games from a PS3 data farm!
With that said PSX will be glorious, all the game announcements + PS1/PS2 BC>E3 2015!
So...so which is it?
by disc support they mean, popping in the disc gives you unlimited access to stream it, which just isn't practical
I still don't see why they can't unlock PSnow games that you already own digitally.
I'm speculating here, but i think maintaining the PS3 farm is not cheap, hence if they do it they will loose a lot of money. After all Sony is a company and they are in to make cash.
Dragon Quest 8 on PS4?
DRAGON QUEST 8 ON PS4???!!!!!!!
*breathing intensifies *
Resolution generally refers to dimensions in this context. So a 1080p resolution is 1920x1080 pixels.
If I say I have a 4x5 rectangle, and I say I want you to double it's dimensions, you have an 8x10 rectangle. You don't calculate the area, then double the area, and recalculate the dimensions based on that.
So if I say double the resolution, you double the dimensions, resulting in 4 times the area (pixel count).
Holy shit, what.
Thread of the week. This news is boom boom.
Something like this? Dragon Quest VIII 1080pDragon Quest 8 on PS4?
DRAGON QUEST 8 ON PS4???!!!!!!!

In that case, we would not even need SE to do an HD remaster. Just put the ISO on PS4, done and done
I still don't see why they can't unlock PSnow games that you already own digitally.
If they don't carry over, that would be a huge disappointment.
Hopefully we can download the PS1/2 purchases we've already made through the PSN store for free.
So would this emulator run with all PS2-games? Or at least with all that are available for PS3 in PlayStation store.
These emulated games can already be played by those who bought the Star Wars bundle.
It would be pretty retarded of Sony to buy the same PS1/PS2 games for each platform individually.
When you buy a PS1 game on PSN, you can play it on PS3, PSP, PS Vita and PS TV. You didn't have to buy it for each of these systems separately.
I imagine it will be the case for PS2 games aswell. Buy on PSN, play on PS3 and PS4 (with limited support on PS3, since PS4 is probably capable of emulating more games than PS3).
Sony better not fuck this up. If I have to repurchase my games again.....
[edit:quote by mistake
Wait. WAT. This is HUGE. <3 I gave my PS2 away to my niece years ago but I kept my games. Can't wait for this.
Is it only digital, or are discs supported too?
You would think so, but then there's the Virtual Console :/
Sony has been the king of remasters and psnow. They just love people purchasing the same games over and over
You could transfer your digital DSi purchases to the 3DS, and your Wii purchases to the Wii U, so I would disagree with that.
Then if you wanted to get the Wii U version of a digital title, you only had to pay a little bit more if you already owned the game iirc.
If true, expect digital only. Disc identification would be a nice surprise, but don't count on it.
anyone can answer if star ocean 2 released for ps4 is psx emulation?
The Xbox One emulates disc-based games. Uses Disc ID to confirm you actually own the game and only requires that you to keep the disc in the console when playing it off the HDD.
So, Sony... it's your turn.
Wouldn't offering disc-based emulation for PS1 games require Sony to pay a CD license fee on every console?
If so, and if it ever happens, I'd think it would be opt-in or even a one-time fee to enable. I'd think that would be a huge cost to incur for something they'd make no money from.
This will probably put a stop to the whole "PS4 has no games" thing.
Probably.
Hopefully we can download the PS1/2 purchases we've already made through the PSN store for free.
Question-- How did apparently no one notice this in the past 2 days since release? Even a single GAF member running into the emulation prompts would have raised alarms all over the place.
