I have to go pick up my tickets from the theater so I don't have to wait in line. We're less than a month away from new Star Wars guys. Felt a hundred years away when all this was announced.

I'm curious how they're going to handle the fact that Finn is killing a bunch of people he once served beside. I'm hoping they touch on how heavy that could be for him.

The troopers kind of have to be competent and threatening in this movie, because one of the main characters is a First Order trooper. If they're all useless fodder, how do we rationalize that with our main hero trooper being a badass and clowning all over the other troopers? It would only draw attention to the contradiction. They need to be shown to be a bit more than just those silly guys who the old wizard fools by waving his hand. They are trained soldiers raised into the military and indoctrinated since childhood. That's why Finn gets to be a badass, because he is one of them whose moral compass is corrected, and why he knows they are in trouble when the First Order comes after our main characters.

I really think that JJ is going to make sure that troopers feel like a credible threat.

I mean, Finn literal says that he's seen some awful shit go down, likely as a Stormtrooper.

Love how the exhaust ports/cross guards on Kylo's saber are discolored from the heat, similar to an engine exhaust or something (a lot of the blasters have the same characteristic at the end of the barrel as well):

Yup, based on the trailer footage of troopers/Kylo landing in a Jakku settlement and seemingly massacring everything in sight, and the other shot of Finn taking off a bloodied helmet, I'm guessing we are essentially going to see the equivalent of troopers committing the act of burning Luke's aunt and uncle, rather than just seeing the aftermath of it. Which is what pushes Finn to switch sides.

Especially a movie like Star Wars where the fans really care. You won't have baby's crying or obnoxious things like that because they would be risking their lives.

What a douche canoe. Even the prequels were enjoyable to watch with a large crowd of people.

There's something about having a shared experience with people that are just as enthusiastic as you that elevates even a mediocre movie experience. I can't imagine how much fun it's going to be seeing this one with a crowd of fans. With that said, me and my wife aren't actually going to see the moving opening weekend, or even week. We're probably going to wait about one or two weeks and try and catch an afternoon/early showing on a weekend.

Your assessment reminds me of the beginning of Final Fantasy IV. Interesting if true.

Maybe there's something else going on like he's going to propose to his girlfriend or something. People buy out restaurants for that shit like in movies right?

...trying to give the guy something here, lol.

Or maybe he will surprise his entire classroom and invite them all or something.

He sure gets a nice shot for a Stormtrooper, even with a new toy. Anyone think there might be more to it? Finn's a traitor after all. Maybe this guy's sore about it.

Speaking of toys, I bet that particular Stormtrooper will be getting an action figure.

Another one guys? Oh man. Oh no I can't watch ALL of them. I've gotta stop at one point. Fine, ONE more

They can only be fodder for so long. Since Luke emerged as a legitimate threat to the Empire, Stormtroopers were probably given lightsaber-resistant weapons and some training.

Is Mandalorian iron still canon?

Mandalore, the Jedi/Mandalorian wars, and all the goodies are canon.

Loving those Wired! shots of the props. Blessed designers keeping it real with Trandoshan add ons and stuff. So good.

I always liked the grittier side of Star Wars. It's part of the reason the prequels don't hit me right. The cleanliness of it all.

Clone Wars animated was fantastic because it got back to dirty Star Wars, and this movie seems to do the same. Just feels more lived in.

C3P0 and R2D2 in the desert is just for the commercial, right? If its in the film (i assume or hope it isn't), that's kind of approaching "poetry" territory.
