Tbf, I doubt any cbm will come even close to what Nolan achieved with his trilogy. His movies were always more about Bruce Wayne than it was about Batman. A great character study, combined with blockbuster action. Very well written story, characters etc. Whether you like it or not, Nolan is already hailed as one of the greats and that will only increase if he keeps it up. Don't see a director of his quality doing such an incredible job as he did. His take was unique and not something you'll see often.
I'm just glad we're getting BatGod.
Well said, I happen to love the Nolan trilogy (even with the flawed but still rewarding Return of the Jedi like Rises as the trilogy capper), so I'm with you.
For me, TDK, Spidey 2 and Batman Begins remain the gold standard.
My only significant lament about the Nolan trilogy was making Batman inactive for the 8 years between the Dark Knight and Rises.......it makes his career too short.
It's a nerd thing but it could've been avoided.
Just say he was Batman for a few more years, then hung up his cowl at the same time he became recluse Bruce Wayne (which I think was just the 3 years previous to Rises).
Given Nolan's grounded approach, a 5 year career as Batman would've felt pretty complete to me, and plausible that he'd be beaten up enough at the start of Rises, and old enough, to make both his defeat to Bane and his eventual retirement feel complete.
Despite the overdue library books, it just feels like there's a movie missing between the Dark Knight and Rises (Riddler/Penguin story).
Still love the trilogy though.
