Batman v Superman Exclusive Look

All it takes is a few posts searches. This is an on going trend of anything DC related or Zack Snyder.

This is really it. People aren't upset at criticism; they're upset at the repetitive nature of every thread related to this movie or DC movies in general. Some are really invested in hating this movie and have been since it was announced, and folks looking forward to it are just tired of it.

Is that really rational? Probably not, but neither is spending two years having the same two or three conversations about a movie on a videogame message board. We're all fools, you guys. Fools!

That dream sequence looked so silly in the trailers, this further confirms it's kinda pointless. God damn Snyder and his insistence on these cheesy scenes. The skulls one in man of steel was so crap.

On a plus-note though Batman looks fucking great. I'm glad he's not looking so wonky in motion. I have no problems with him at all. Plus visually this clip looks quite nice, just don't see why it's needed.
The scene points out to audiences that Batman is a man living in fear and hatred of the foreign invader among us, ever since the day when those like him brought down skyscrapers and murdered thousands of innocent people. This dream sequence symbolizes his greatest fear: that if left unchecked this foreign menace will take over and crush us with its overwhelming power, wiping our way of life from existence.

At the very least the thread hasn't been horribly derailed by some Man of Steel drive by post yet

kind of inevitable in the age of this kind of drip-feed marketing though, and not helped by Snyder's hit-and-miss (at best) track record.

LMAO bravo

lol that really was the biggest selling point of this scene. I mean he could in Dark Knight and DKR as well, but they had to go with a very different approach to the costume. Having the cowl that REALLY looks like the comic cowl with that level of articulation? That's actually super impressive.

It is. Seeing it form fit to his jaw, those details leave me curious of the engineering behind it, or if it's a matter of CG enhancing the practical suit.

your loss

Supergirl >>> Man of Steel superman

MoS Supes would take twenty minutes to brood about fighting the villain where Supergirl jumps into the fight before the next ad break.

The whole reluctant hero thing just doesn't work with Superman.

As someone who REALLY enjoyed Man of Steel, none of the new BvS trailers have done a thing for me. I don't like supe's new 'mean' look with slick backed hair, I don't like the colors, and I'm just not feeling the tone. It feels too...mean?

Wayne should run for office and Make Gotham Great Again.

Except you know, that didn't happen in MoS.

I still want the version of Man of Steel where Snyder cuts out any pretense of plot and just relies solely on his (really strong) visual eye and throws on some broody Journey to the Line/Bridge of Khazad Dum greatest hits in the background, going for that Malick-esque vibe of the teasers.

I was kidding but there's definitely more scrutiny against MoS than any of the 'competition's' movies, that I've read on GAF anyways. Hopefully as more movies come out it'll all get left behind
Honestly I don't think it has and much of it really stems from Man of Steel being a critical flop (I genuinely disliked it, full disclosure) and people don't forgive that easily.

That being said I think there's a form of confirmation bias when it comes to what does or doesn't face scrutiny. Everything gets trashed, regardless of its actual quality and this can be seen in a lot of threads however you're far more likely to pick up and be upset or offended by it of its a product you enjoy, I'm far more of a fan of the Marvel movies and thus have a tendency to take negative criticism of them less well than, for instance, this film and I'm sure the opposite rings true for some on Gaf. Negative criticism, by the way, is drive-y 'looks like a tv show' kind of posts and not legitimate or well thought-out commentary.

Maybe this isn't actually the case but I'd like to think this bias is more common. Sorry if this is a bit rambly, I'm incredibly tired. I'm sure when the DCU has content to defend it'll be easier but even with the MCU having series like Daredevil or Jessica Jones and movies such as The Winter soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy there'll always be people who either pretend or legitimately view it as utter shit and that'll be the same for DC's efforts. You can't please everyone but it's also often assumed that it's a fanboy vs fanboy thing but if you chart post history people shitting on film aren't binary and may hate the look of this but love Flash or Arrow. There are, of course, exceptions.

Last gen it was all about Xbox and how full of fail Sony was. Now it's all about PlayStation again and how shit Microsoft is. People just go with the momentum. Marvel has it right now, DC's just getting started.

I won't be surprised at all 2 years from now when there's a role reversal and everyone acts like they saw it coming.

You've convinced me. We should close our borders to the Syrian Refugee's.

Blind love is as equally dumb as blind hate. Let people have their opinions this is a discussion board. Post yours and quit dwelling on others.

Does "Omg so good" add to the discussion to? Or is that just OK.

how is a group of.... well I have no nice words to describe them but GAF posters who do nothing but drive by posts about how the movie sucks (sucks! six months out the movie already sucks!)
how Henry Cavill is balding, recycled nit-picky arguments from MoS, etc, etc, etc. how is that leading to discussion? can you answer that?
because someone saying "this movie looks great, it's awesome" while at the opposite end of the spectrum is at least sincere and not meant to be combative and cynical.
it's dishonest to say that only purposefully negative comments are the only thing that lead to discussion. as a matter of fact, it's downright bullshit.

Really awesome stuff. I am loving Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne. Always thought Michael Keaton did it best but Affleck could be best Batman and Bruce Wayne ever.

Anyway was hoping to finally hear Wonder Woman speak but maybe in next trailer.

You, I like. I really need to scroll past the less than stellar posts to get to interesting discussions, questions and observations.

For me, I'm on a media blackout. I haven't seen a clip from the film; on mobile, turning off gifs is a snap, so I particularly come for the conversation, and not smacktalk.

Waste of 30 seconds. Trailer better be a solid 3 minutes to make up.

Also...

Is Man of Steel some kind of Brown Note where people lose their fucking minds?
I have not seen ONE online discussion of this movie that doesn't turn into a festival of nonsense.

Why this movie? I liked it well enough, but there are better (and worse) that don't turn discussions into a toilet bowl like MOS.

I thought it was kinda awkward to be honest.

Don't know if it was on purpose, as I guess this is supposed to be a dream sequence?

If so, I assume they were going for a dreadful, nightmarish tone, but from what little they showed (and it's a very short clip to be fair), it just came across as silly looking to me.

Please rename this thread GAF Civil War IOTI

There really should be a big thread for Marvel and DC fans to have their pissing contest where no one else has to be bothered by it.

...I just want to post in Marvel threads again. :/

Oh boo hoo. Positivity is the only way someone it aloud to react. Are you saying the people that think someone looks like crap aren't being honest about? "Looks great will watch" is as equality poor of a conservation starter. Most of the conservation in this thread is about the negativity. There's a block function if it's getting to your persecution complex. Or a more positive walled garden of people who share your opinion here on gaf or other forums. I guess PlayStation only guys shouldn't be allowed to be able to post in Xbox threads and so forth while we're at it.

I don't like the way this movie is looking because Synder is mostly awful, I enjoyed TDK trilogy for its grounded is reality take not CG overkill, and I didn't enjoy Man of Steel because the Superman have enjoyed (which isn't a ton) has mostly been more uplifting. I'm sure if it reviews well I will go see it but as someone who thought MoS was garbage I'm not seeing anything to change my mind which bums me out because the DC characters I do enjoyed will be tied up in this universe.

Affleck really does look like a perfect Batman and Bruce Wayne.
Dudes always had a great intensity to him its one of the few good things in Daredevil.

I kinda like the mixture of happiness and unbridled negativity makes things way more interesting.

Man, I am excited to see this, but...(and I know this may come off as beating a dead horse) am I the only one who still isn't digging Ben Affleck, but for a bit of a convoluted reason. I think he's a fine actor, I think he will play the part well,

but I don't see Batman or Bruce Wayne when I see him this bvs stuff. All I see is an actor in a cape. I don't feel like he's Batman. He's just an actor doing a job.

And I'm attributing this entirely to the fact that we had a set of good Batman movies, for a good 8 years, starring Christian Bale, and it is such a goddamn missed opportunity to not have connected his movies' universe to the Superman film that came out one friggin year after it.

Especially since this whole bvs shit is reactive, not proactive of WB, I'm pretty sure they've had all the DC rights for a long time but didn't really care to make a shared universe until this decade. They should've worked with what they had, it was pretty damn good stuff.

Honestly. I'm almost with you there. Have a thread where they can go and fight among themselves while thread like these for BOTH fans can actually discuss things logically without having the thread turn into a fighting match.

Just once I'd like a bit humor in the superman v batman trailers. Even super serious captain America 2 had some good humor.

Man I wasn't sold on him initially when they first casted him. Now I think he'll do great. I already believe he'll be a good Bruce. But seeing him in the Costume. I'm convinced. I think he'll do a good job.

I think people are hesitant because we know Ben and you just don't know how he's going to play this role. But I think he's taking it seriously and I think he'll do good.

God no. Can you imagine trying to shoehorn realistic grounded Bale Batman in a movie universe where aliens, mythological gods, cyborgs, demons, etc. exist?

no, I too think he's completely miscast as Batman. Not sure why they decided to pick an actor so completely devoid of charisma and presence and with the expressiveness of a dead mackerel to play him, going from Bale to him is one of the biggest downgrades I've experienced, but well
