Batman v Superman - New Official Trailer

I'm all aboard the hype train. Was already excited for it but now this just sold me even more. Man I love Affleck as Batman, he just nails it.

Not in the dark knight returns. Superman couldn't rip batman to shreds because he was weakened from the nuclear blast.

He was literally a pawn being used for that very means in The Dark Knight Returns and didn't realize it. Hence batman's line, "Who do they send after you?" He was the Regan Administration's trump card, because they thought all humanity was below him.

He gave him a chance to get prepared for the fight tho. That isn't on Superman thats on his handlers. And hell I just generally think DKR has a poor handle on Superman as a character.

Won't someone think of the parademons?!

If those are indeed parademons that puts a whole new importance on this dream sequence. Hell it's likely not even that then but a vision of what could happen. That likely means it's not even Batman's but perhaps Wonder Woman's. In that case we're looking at a possible future where Darkseid has influence over Superman which has happen in the comics and cartoons before. Where Darkseid either tries to take control of Superman or wipes his memory to make him think he's Darkseid's son.

Also Doomsday is not a big surprise. The Zod being turned into Doomsday was something many thought as soon as Zod's body was shown. Doomsday also isn't a deep character. He's a killing machine, a weapon. That's what's he's being used as here.

Best part of the trailer?

Batman created by: Bob Kane with Bill Finger

Should be created by Bill Finger only as far as I'm concerned.

Bob Kane is a fucking back stabbing con man. His name should be purged from everything considering he contributed absolutely nothing to the batman character aside from the name.

And he was a complete and utter prick.

It didn't occur to me that those could be Parademons.

Yo, what if that nightmare sequence is actually some kind of vision to the fall of Earth-2?

There's no breaks on the hype train

How can anyone not be excited for Snyder's take on Doomsday? I mean come on seriously. The mayhem will be off the charts. He is going to make Hulk look like childs play in comparison. Its gonna be great.

The thing I'm trying to figure out is how all of this will tie in with the Justice League, WW and Suicide Squad films. I still have my fingers crossed for Lex and Joker being co-villains in JL.

Eisenberg becoming self-aware and hamming it up should be interesting. I don't know about this Lex, but I'll take a wait-and-see approach.

Everything else...eeeeeeeeh. Hopefully a better trailer releases next month.

With batman using wit (and green arrow) to defeat superman and make the point that he's not above humanity, and that the best of humanity can stand toe to toe with him when needed be, and for him to remember it.

Basically for Batman to put Superman in his place, like the whole first half of this trailer seemed like it was building to.

Eh I always read it as Superman losing because he didn't want to win. He didn't want to bring Batman in the first place and once he hears Bruce's heart, Superman completely lost the will to fight. Which was pretty much the point of the comic, between the cops jobbing to Batman or the what happened to the mayor that wanted to talk things out with the gang. Frank Miller really had thing about bleeding heart liberals being afraid to fight.

They're contractually obligated to credit him. Hell, they only recently managed to weasel out of another contract the Kane estate was using to stop them from crediting Finger at all.

There are parts I really liked and parts I really didn't. The exchange at the end felt so much more forced than any quip Marvel has ever done. Like it or not, the DCCU has gotten the rep for being dark and dreary (thanks MoS!), so seeing Superman be quippy with Batman comes off as so fake considering what we know about Clark to this point.

On the positive notes, I liked the dialogue between Bruce and Clark at the beginning. The ideological differences felt natural and the two played off of each other real well. And I'm in the minority on Eisenberg. I think his Luthor is interesting and is a fun departure from the "crazed evil genius" stereotype he always is in these films, though I do think he will become that as the DCCU continues. I really like his irreverence. You really get the feeling that he feels invincible and above it all even in the face of superpowered beings.

On the subject of showing too much, I think DC kind of has to at this point. With Civil War or Star Wars, those projects are so established and the pedigree behind them is such that the general public is going to see them no matter how much you show them. BvS is an immensely important project for DC. They simply cannot afford for it to be anything but a massive success, so they are going all out to get people into the theater. Some would argue that just showing the trinity should be enough, but I completely understand why they feel the need to go above and beyond in that regard.

Overall I'm still excited for the movie, but I do see potential pitfalls that could cause it to not go over so well come release.

Civil War didn't do that. I have no idea why they're fighting.
The Force Awakens didn't do that, I have no idea what's going on there.
Suicide Squad didn't do that, what on earth would motivate the higher ups to assemble a team of bad guys for?

Good trailers don't show an entire movie in 3 minutes.

they're fighting over the act that was shown in the trailer

something something jakku something something rey finn han massive star fighter battle
i seriously can't distinguish between what i read from leaks and what i learned from the trailers at this point so

come on, this is literally the first scene of the trailer, they do it cuz they're powerful enough to pull off a mission and if it goes south they can blame it on the villians being villians

"You can't beat my lasso of truth!"

"Gadzooks Superman! Is she with you?"

"I thought she was with you!"

If they knew what they were doing with a film like this, they'd have Robin in the mix.

"Holy Heroes, Batman! Who is she!?"

"I though she was with Supes!"

Civil War mentions the Superhero Registration Act, Tony talks about heroes having limitations, Cap disagrees, they all seem to be going after Bucky. It's not hard to draw conclusions from that. However, why are Superman and Batman fighting? Sure, you can draw conclusions but it never outright states why. Bruce is mad at or scared of Superman but I have no clue why Superman is going after Batman so hard.

Now, here's an idea: what if Superman is following the government to show he can tow the line and he's assigned to deal with Batman? Very "Dark Knight Returns" and makes sense but that's just an idea from me and we can speculate until the movie is released but we have no true idea of why they're fighting.

Star Wars I couldn't tell you because I'm not a fan so I really don't care to watch or comment on the trailers.

You're also comparing the first trailers to the third, the first 2 trailers showed very little. Civil War is really the closest thing to Supes/Bats I can think of so I'd like to see what happens further down the line from them. Make no mistake, I think this is a baaaaaaaaaaaad trailer.

Based off this trailer the leaks from earlier this year appear to be true.

Don't read this if you don't want the entire film spoiled.

Couldn't help, read it all. I hope it's true because of the last third, makes the movie seem bigger than what's been shown. The Wonder Woman bits don't exactly line up with the trailers but there's so little of here in the trailers it could be there for the trailers sake.

Hilarious. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

This was ... a terrible trailer.

The tones all over the place, Lex is a cartoon skit shatting all over the place, the quips are awkward and land flat and they spoiled the damn movie by showing them teaming up against Doomsday after Batz gets BTFO.

I'm actually shocked . .

This is too stupid to be real.

Although it is kinda stupid, it makes a little bit of sense.
We already see from the trailers Bruce is worried about Superman being a cold blooded killer. If he kills Bruce Wayne or is even willing to and for some reason doesn't, then there's really no way for Bruce to take care of him. I think Plan A in this case is to kill him, Plan B if Plan A fails is see if this Superman is as good as he says he is. Shitty Plan B, but we gotta watch the movie first.
