So, did Bloodborne really not win anything at Gaming Awards 2015 ?

I mean, COME ON! That game is superbly superb! The atmosphere, the music, the gameplay, the lore.
On the other hand, maybe that series is not meant to be recognised by mainstream shows.
What are your thoughts?

Have you seen the Oscars?

I thought it'd get Best OST at least, but what do we know?
In the end, the best reward From Software can get is their fanbase and their continuous support.

My thoughts are that Undertale also did not win any awards and that awards are subjective/ opinions anyway.

Edit: I don't think Batman won anything either.

Who cares? Award shows mean nothing. They're advertising. The winners will always be the ones with the most potential sales left to grab.

My thoughts are that this is a great year and there really aren't any losers here when you consider everything released in 2015 as a packaged deal. Also we don't actually gain anything when our favorite games win so yeah maybe this isn't the most productive thing to worry about.

My thoughts are that it has already received incredible recognition across the board in multiple other venues, on plenty of websites, and above all else in the hearts and minds of its target demographic. It's also sold exceptionally well for a game in an alleged niche. I would advise not fretting overmuch. The Game Awards are just one reflection of the industry's beliefs. :)

It is unfortunate but the Western journalists obsession with giving western games awards continues. They need their quests , waypoints, mini maps, visuals and story telling to be considered for a GOTY award.

UC2 prevented Demon Souls , Witcher 3 for Bloodborne etc..

It is pretty sad that one of the greatest game directors in the business today cannot get recognition from a mainstream award show but it is what it is.

As I said In the other topic I expected BB to not win the GOTY award and I understand Witcher 3 winning it.

I don't understand Bloodborne not winning best art award though. There's nothing that compares this year to the care that FROM put in BB art-wise IMO. You don't see a game that start in a victorian setting and ends with a Lovecraftian nightmareish with such attention to detail.

This was the same award show that gave GotY to Dragon Age: Inquisition over Bayonetta 2, right?

I'm not too bothered then.

EDIT:

Also gave Best Action/Adventure to Shadow of Mordor over Bayonetta 2. Forgot that one.

Yes i'm sure this is just the issue, Witcher 3 certainly isn't a phenomenal game or anything. /s

Way too niche to win something in an award show like this. Did it get nominated tough ?
The game sold millions of copies and had a large marketing budget, it's not niche. Yes it got nominated.

Bloodborne is a masterpiece. It just had the bad luck of coming out in the same year a masterpiecier game was also released.

It doesn't change how incredible it is.

Kinda sad didnt win best Art direction or even nominated for best soundtrack.

best soundtrack nominations were incredibly bad imo. Not to say they had bad soundtracks but there were definitely games with much better ones than the ones nominated.

I've come to accept the fact that actual gameplay matters less and less every year for western journalists. Having a good story is more important than the game part.

It easily could have won a few awards, and I think it will from other outlets before the year is out. There is some really strong competition and I don't begrudge The Witcher 3 and Bloodborne sharing the glory this year personally. They are both awesome and deserve awards.

The judges didn't think it deserved it, so therefore it didn't get it. Not a big deal, YMMV
